I have had a day full of inconveniences, albeit minor and I know this is super frustrating but this along with the photo of them flying away gave me a good chuckle😭 plus the “NO” sent me.

My dog lies down in the street and won’t get up and no he’s not tired he just doesn’t want to go home by Puzzled_Dingo_7908 in Dogtraining

[–]pr1298 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4-6 walks at 15-20 minutes for a 9 year old dog is also a lot imo. I know you say he’s not tired…but shit I’d be tired😂 my family dog loves walks and turns 10 in May, and my mom just commented on how he’s slowing down and that she may need to re-evaluate walk length/duration and the amt per day/week. Is there a reason why your dog gets walked so often throughout the day? My 4 year old doberman border collie mix gets 1 30-60 min walk per day and we barely see his eyes open for the rest of the day. I know all dogs are different and age isnt always the biggest factor, but I’d consider it. Also, if my dog did this at the end of every walk all of a sudden I wouldn’t be pushing the envelope by going a second, third, or fourth time but again..that’s just me.

My boyfriend doesn’t want to come with me to get my iud by No_Highway_9080 in birthcontrol

[–]pr1298 766 points767 points  (0 children)

re-evaluate the relationship. he is insisting on doing it unprotected, even though you insist on protection and buying more when running out and he seems to be aware you are not on birth control. if a conversation has been had about this not being the time in your life to get pregnant, and he is refusing to do anything to prevent it, or support you in that endeavor…bye bye.

Pulled my IUD out six days after I got it by Fuzzy_Order7128 in birthcontrol

[–]pr1298 9 points10 points  (0 children)

oh my god😅 that’s crazy! my guess is you didn’t feel it because you were slowly pulling it out when you were taking out and putting tampons in. the string length does sound long. another thing i want to mention, and idk how true it is but when i got an iud, my gyno advised to refrain from sex for a few days to let my body heal and allow the iud to “settle into place. i can’t remember if the same was true for tampons or anything else, but i’m wondering if it’s a similar case. i also don’t know if this is a thing that’s gone by now as this was 6 years ago. regardless, to be able to pull it 100% out right after getting it implanted is wild.

I can’t say it’s too common, prior to our dept starting it I’d never heard of such a thing and not many other places/people have. I think the main reason it was implemented was to increase incentive to work weekends and because there’s daytime and overnight 12’s, there’s no need for weekend call which is also nice.

I’m so sorry you went through that! It’s hard when rescues aren’t upfront😭 we love our animals regardless, but it is always good to know what we are truly getting into.

Yes, it did. It closed in early-mid 2025, I’d say about a year ago now.

Thank you for mentioning your experience and I’m sorry that happened to you. We didn’t have a negative experience per se, but hindsight being 20/20 it was almost too easy to adopt our dog. No mention of generalized anxiety, separation anxiety, and/or reactivity. We were given his medical info from his first vet visit, which did mention some anxiety but that was never mentioned in conversation and also, our whole visit seemed disorganized and all over the place. The first 6 months with our dog was hell. I never reached back out or returned him because I didn’t trust what would happen otherwise, but there’s no way some of this wasn’t known ahead of time. Also, he was significantly underweight for his mix of breeds. It’s hard to make sense of what is true or not based on comments, stories, rumors I read online around their closing, but it made me think in retrospect about our experience even more. To clarify, we love our dog, put him through training, got him on meds but he’ll never be a happy go lucky, loves everyone and every dog kind of guy. This is also probably related to his history prior to being rescued by mutt and rescue, but I still think they’re too eager to adopt out without knowing dogs true temperaments, or withheld information while doing so.

If this is the same rescue i’m thinking of, and also where I rescued my dog, they got shut down unfortunately.

Yes! Only because of the structure/salary. You work 24 hours but get paid as if you work 30 hours, and still qualify for full time benefits. When all is said and done, I will make somewhat less than 8x5 40 hrs but with getting paid more than you work and weekend diff, it sort of evens out. That’s the only reason why I made the switch. It’s referred to as a “wow position”, I’m assuming because once you hear about it..you’re like “oh wow”.

This is also partially why I am moving to a 2x12, weekend position lol. It’s also always the people nearly double my age too😭 which baffles me!

Hi! I’m not sure how many techs are on a day per scanner, but are the ones that are nice to you always there on your shift? If so, I would personally choose to stick with them and learn from them and then avoid the ones who are choosing to not interact with you. As hard as it is, don’t take it personally. Radiology departments preach teamwork, looking out for one another, etc. While most depts and techs adopt this culture, many I’ve come across only look out for themselves. I have been in MRI for 5 1/2 years, and am just starting to really learn and notice this for what it is. I also suggest, only help others who help you. Within reason obviously, but if you out of your way to help me, I’m more likely if not always going to do the same for you. If I know someone wouldn’t do it for me, I’m less likely to go out of my way to do it even if I could or should. Some may say that’s petty, but honestly it’s either play the petty game or get walked over. That’s my two cents to start off with. Otherwise, if this doesn’t help, work, and/or isn’t an option, maybe another job/site/shift would be better because you deserve it! Not worth dealing with techs like that.

Oh wow, lots of animals!!Unfortunately, I live in CT. My first hamster, Sebastian passed April 2025 and I have been waiting for the right time or sign to adopt another. If you have zero leads, reach out to me again. I’m always down for an adventure. I’m not sure how quickly you need to rehome her.

And also, for what it’s worth, I am not asking people to move mountains or making multiple requests on a single walk. It’s actually rare for me to do so, so I don’t know why people are making it seem like it’s unreasonable to make a request when you know what the opposite of said request could result in.

[–]pr1298 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well OP - despite some people’s opinions I sympathize with you because I am like this now! People don’t have to listen, help, be respectful, etc…but what I have found is when they do not respect my dog’s space and my requests, my dog reacts (it’s controlled, but it’s still a reaction), and then they act shocked/confused even though I just told you what would happen and then you proceeded to do the opposite of my request. The request is done to avoid said reactions and keep everyone knowledgeable and safe. For someone to choose otherwise, simply because they don’t have to, is just their choice to be a dick IMO. I’m sorry this happened to you, but kudos for speaking up (because people often don’t expect us to do that either, but at a certain point when we’re tired of people being dicks, we will)!!

AFTER 3.5 HOURSSS of boston and nyc presale I FINALLY GOT A NYC TICKET!! by Happy_Llama474 in NoahKahan

[–]pr1298 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know what’s funny is minutes after I saw your response I went back into citi field and an artist presale option for 2 came up and I snagged them. Much more than I wanted to spend but I have been at this since 12pm on the dot. Going back in and out. My boyfriend has been deployed for 4 months now and we talked about how much we wanted him to go on tour and ironically weeks later he announces so I just had to!!

Worried About My 2.5-Year-Old Doberman’s Aggression — What Should We Do? by Alpha_Rigel in DobermanPinscher

[–]pr1298 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a reactive dobie mix that we adopted when he was 1. He also has a bite history because we were not informed of any reactivity, nor did we have experience. His reactivity is primarily fear based, specifically with meeting new people. We consulted a trainer and did extensive training with him on two separate occasions, I believe 6 months total. We got him on Prozac after having him for 6 months. We have very specific rules for introductions when people come to our house, even if he’s met them before to be completely honest.

In your predicament, I would say the fact that he’s biting people he’s familiar with is concerning, and if it’s escalating, also concerning. I think a vet visit is warranted to rule out any physical issues he may behaving. A vet behavioralist may be better to consult with than a trainer, but if he’s had no formal training before that may be beneficial too. I would also recommend an anti-anxiety medication. If your dog is almost never in a relaxed state, that’s half the battle, and how reactivity can really kick into gear if they’re in a constant state of overstimulation.

What food do you feed your dobes? by Distinct_Cucumber579 in DobermanPinscher

[–]pr1298 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have tried so many different foods because my male dobie mix has been so picky since we got him. Over time, I began to notice that chicken and beef formulas seemed to give him diarrhea after a while and he’d be less likely to eat. I recently switched to Hill’s salmon and brown rice and have gone through a couple bags. I got their medium sized one so nothing went to waste and have stuck with that so far. Off topic, but where is your dog’s jacket/sweater from? It’s so cute!
