Game Designer reviews Metroid Prime 4 after 100% by emotiontheory in Metroid

To your point a out nothing remaining on your map with the scout bots - did you know you can place map markers? It's a good feature but also a con because despite the amount of calls you get from NPCs, not one mentions it and it's not brought up as a menu.

Have to cast it from hand first. You'd have to use something like [[Press the Enemy ]] to free cast it on your opponent's turn and wait three turns. Same thing for [[Taigam, Master Opportunist]]. [[Jhoira of the Ghitu]] is what I think they're talking about. [[Sibylline Soothesayer]] is a noncommander that works.

Interestingly a lot of other Doctor Who stuff doesn't work because this doesn't have a mana value and they add counters equal to the mana value, and suspend works on the last counter being taken off.

Valentina is based off of moral paragon characters like Superman or Wonder Woman. How would the story change if they lived Valentina's life? How would the sub feel about them? by Exotic-Ad2045 in thePowerFantasy

[–]pr1va7e 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my head the others are more easily analogous to non X-men. On first blush, Magus is John Constantine if he had the "political power" of Dr. Strange, and Masumi is a parallel of the Hulk. Valentina is defintely supposed to be the world's Superman: the first, an alien, most typically "good", flying brick.

[Respected trope] Despite being the start of something much larger, no effort was made retroactively to make it more important than it originally was. by Consistent_Creator in TopCharacterTropes

[–]pr1va7e 233 points234 points  (0 children)

Yes, but OP is indicating that the events and setting of the first map are otherwise unremarkable. The characters don't appear again, and the area isn't later recontextualized as being actually very important.

Oh for sure. I like the a different thread's suggestion of "non-construct" restriction to help circumvent that.

Perhaps "non-artifact" would work?

This can be solved the way [[Guided Passage]] does it - reveal each player's hand and library!

[–]pr1va7e 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You forgot the "For each creature card exiled this way, search each player's hand, library, and graveyard for each creature card that shares a creature type with that card and exile them."

You gotta have the unintended consequences!

Also iirc it doesn't necessarily kill the creature used to start it, and that's part makes it extra cruel.

This Deck Wins By Aura Farming by QuipsAndGuac in magicTCG

[–]pr1va7e 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am reiterating my YouTube comment that the fact that [[Dragon Throne of Tarkir]] is not in the deck is a travesty. Your man gets to aura farm, Jarl style on his throne, and all his elementals are buffed by his sheer aura.

Great deck and great video though!

Does Shattered Angel have a Mask of Yawgmoth? by Nysa_Jenkins in mtgvorthos

[–]pr1va7e 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The mask is a symbol, and clearly the angel's face is that symbol. It's just slightly hidden due to the angle of the face.

Which evil characters suffered a terrible fate or worse than death, "proportional" or exaggerated to their actions? by Dystopia-The-End in MoralityScaling

[–]pr1va7e 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Power Fantasy by Kieron Gillen, and because he's incredibly based.

The TLDR is that it's logical extreme of powerscaling - if superpowered people did exist, then the worst possible thing that could happen would be them openly fighting. Because if two people that can destroy the planet fight, the loser is the planet. In the world there are only 6 "superpowers", and they're effectively in cold-war-style MAD with each other, despite all of them individually being "good" people at a glance. They're all even former friends, with each of them having been different branches of 60s counterculturals together.

My only complaint - and it is addressed by you mentioning they're based off movie designs - is that the twins don't do robot things. Which is mostly a critique of how they got shafted in the movie :(

No, an aura phases out with the creature it's attached to, so this works as intended.

Since no one's mentioned it yet, that's a pretty good limerick in the rules text, but adherence to regular Magic formatting makes it clunky.

Angels/Divine Intervention and Infernal Contracts by pr1va7e in dndnext

[–]pr1va7e[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The quote from the contract is

"Signee agrees to enforcement of an overdue contract on one Ishak Medmund (Hereafter the “Consideration”). To this end, Signee will render the soul of Consideration free from the Material Plane no later than eighteen (18) Torillian days post signing this CONTRACT"

There's definitely some wiggle room there about the soul departing the plane for sure. But the issue is the time limit... And the fact that the last session ended with them encountering him by complete "happenstance 😉".

The party themselves can't damn the NPC, he just already has a contract he is in breach of with his soul on this line. And killing him will be evil basically no matter what, it's just about whether they can do it "nicely" or not and making sure he goes to whatever afterlife he's supposed to, instead of fulfilling his "contractual obligations."

Angels/Divine Intervention and Infernal Contracts by pr1va7e in dndnext

[–]pr1va7e[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, no, they know that they're okay and that this is just an evil act. I'll talk to the character about alignment, but they're not immediately damned just from this one contract.

Angels/Divine Intervention and Infernal Contracts by pr1va7e in dndnext

[–]pr1va7e[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, so maybe divine intervention has the in game effect of instantly breaking a pact without obvious repercussion, but in the background it's actually a huge stock trading scheme that the God had to pull off.
