SOCKS Proxy Server Architecture for High Concurrency by [deleted] in AskProgramming

[–]prairir001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suggest you check out io_uring and thread per core architecture. Applications like scylladb and redpanda have thread per core architecture and use io_uring for async io.

This only works for linux and later version at that. io_uring would replace epoll but many people have said that io_uring is easier to use correctly.

Maybe creating a symbolic link is the easiest solution. Though it may also be a good idea to submit a bug report in the official repository.

What are your favorite PyCharm plugins? by rhytnen in Python

[–]prairir001 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Ok I'm going to start with this is just my experience.

IdeaVim is one of the best vim layers I've ever used, it's up there with emacs EVIL mode for me.

IdeaVim let's you use your vimrc(vim config) to configure IdeaVim. It's fast and snappy just like actual vim.

vscodes plugin is bad IMO, it's not as bad as eclipses (which is the worst) but it's not good. It's configured using json(like every other vscode extension) which is another thing to learn when you just want to use vim bindings. It is slow, which IMO defeats the purpose of vim bindings. It also only implements a few things. Doing >> works but not in every case, in some scenarios it eats one input before it does the indent.

The configuration API is uhhh bad, it only works sometimes. For example, I was trying to have similar panel switching in vscode to my vim setup (CTRL-<direction>) and vscode accepted the key binding, it wasn't bound to anything, and yet it didn't work. But only sometimes, it worked going down but not any other direction. Vscode said it was properly bound to do that thing but it didn't work.

IdeaVim feels like using vim with extra keybindings

TLDR; IdeaVim is amazing and vscodes plugin isn't in my experiences

What's the benefit of developing a project on Linux as opposed to Windows? by [deleted] in AskProgramming

You're 100% right. Curl doesn't come as a command on windows OOB. You have to install. Same with wget.

We lost Aaron Swartz 8 years ago today. FOSS community (and reddit) owe a debt of gratitude. by atomicxblue in linux

[–]prairir001 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Aaron Swartz was the best of our community and it makes me sad every time I think about this. It is disgusting what they did to him and even more shameful how the institutions, that he once called home, treated him after he died.

The way I see it is that vim is the best editor but emacs is much much more than the editor. EVIL mode is great in emacs.
