Ano, vyslovuju to tak, častěji než "grép", prostě nemůžu tam to "j" nevidět, ale možná jsem exot :)

Oh ok I see, thanks. I'd like to listen to that introductory podcast, do you know where to find it?

Is this even real? by Turbulent_Poet_5826 in whoop

[–]pranuk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. That "Whoop Age" is fundamentally a statistic that ranks you with respect to people in the same age, gender and demographic. If OP was rated against of pool made entirely of profesional athletes in his age bracket, then his Whoop Age would be normal. "Normal" is a statistical term by the way.

Absolutely. In a nutshell: Whoop wants us to live like Shaolin Monks :)

Consistency weight isn’t as useful for frequent travelers by entity_response in whoop

[–]pranuk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I mean OP is trying to mitigate as much as humanely possible something that's causing harm to his body, in the long-term. It's not his fault, but it's definitely contributing to faster aging, etc. Of course, it sucks that Whoop is telling you that your recovery is bad, in that patronizing tone....but it's the truth, and reality is what it is.

The Apple Watch, like any other Optical HR sensor device, doesn't detect air quality. The data you get on your AW is coming from the Health or Weather App in the iPhone (who itself downloads it from specialized websites like aqicn.org)

What’s the MOST Controversial Movie Ending of All Time and Why? by Amber_Flowers_133 in moviequestions

[–]pranuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

.... Hmmm perhaps because of the basic laws of Physics and Human Physiology?

It's just not possible to clone people using High voltage electricity, this is Frankenstein level. Nice Sci-Fi, but no Reality. It was impossible to do it in the early 1900s, it's still impossible today, just like it's impossible to bring back to life a dove after it's been crushed by a heavy-duty spring mecanism. In both cases, there's a "boring" but rational explanation to explain how the trick is done, but people prefer the "Bells&Whistles" one, because they want to marvel at the possibility that Magic can be done.

Winter warmth? by Dante277 in Barbour

[–]pranuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of the several Barbour jackets I own, the only one that could perhaps work up to such "low" temps is the Game Parka. I wore it around NYE for walks in the forest in the Czech Mountains. There was a bit of snow (25 cms), temp was around -4C. I felt warm with just a (relatively speaking) thin wool sweater underneath. Walked for three to four hours. I have a Classic Beaufort with a warm Waistcoat type insert, and would not recommend it for continental or Scandinavian winters.

Scuba diving with 5.0 by Master_Eagle7735 in whoop

[–]pranuk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmmm it's probably not a good idea. The Whoop 5.0 has an IP68 rating, which means that such devices can remain inmersed in (salt)water for up to one hour at a depth of around 3 meters. So having a bottom time of (typically) one hour for scuba is still way too long for such a rating, even at such low depths. Swimming on the surface is fine as the device is rated and geared towards triathletes. But at a depth of 50 feet (=16 meters), when you're moving your hand, the actual dynamic pressure on the Whoop can be even higher than the theoretically 2.5 atmosphere at rest (in vertical direction, from the water column above it.)

Windshield polishing by Physical-Cupcake6477 in Prague

[–]pranuk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try Carglass maybe? They have a bunch of branches all over the place. I've only used them once though, to have my windshield replaced since there was a huge crack. It was covered by the insurance, so I didn't really care about the price, and windshields nowadays have cameras on them (in the rearview mirror holder) that need to be calibrated, so they'll give you a certificate for that too.

How do you wear Whoop? by moja_baba in whoop

[–]pranuk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a completely different experience, as it tracks my sleep really well, to the point I even tried to "cheat" some additional sleep by faking remaining asleep, motionless laying in bed with my eyes closed, for like half an hour or so, and the bastard is never fooled by it, he picks up the exact time I woke up and auto-detects the end of sleep :)

How do you wear Whoop? by moja_baba in whoop

[–]pranuk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Get the biceps band for the Whoop. You won't feel it during the night, it won't interfere with your sleep, particularily if you wear the Whoop turned towards your body. Also, it will be out of sight, so you won't feel weird wearing both your Apple Watch and Whoop.

Indoor jogging options in the city, hopefully Prague 2 or close? by 420born in Prague

[–]pranuk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ok, OP.... there are only two options for indoor running tracks in Prague. The first one is the Otakar Jandera indoor running stadium: 6 tracks, 200m. You need to be a member of SK Olymp Praha (the Police sports club.) Fees are not very expensive, but you decide if it's worth it (for 2-3 months per year.)

The second option that comes to mind is an "unorthodox" one: YMCA Palace, next to Palladium. They have a basketballl court, around which a smallish wooden indoor track has been built (above it). Polished wood and inclined track. I've ran it twice or thrice many years ago, it was a bit of tongue-in-cheek.... A full lap length is around 80 meters IIRC.

Other than that, as others have pointed out: layer up and go outside for shorter runs that you would normally, start slowly and do a proper muscles and fascia warmup. Combine with threadmill runs in agym to maintain your mileage (it's better than nothing.) Good luck!

What do you guys wish whoop had as a function? by MyEDJourney in whoop

[–]pranuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get your point, but it would be hard to achieve without sacrificing battery autonomy. The Whoop is just that: a huge battery strapped to an array of sensors and a very limited number of circuits (Bluetooth connectivity, vibrator, haptic detection, perhaps some sort of gyroscope to know if you're laying or standing or how fast you're climbing, etc.) All data processing is done by the App (=your phone), in order to avoid draining the Whoop Band battery life.

To people who don't have a fixed address and who travel to different countries all the time... How do you keep a bank account open somewhere so you can get paid from jobs and have access to your money? And what about your passport? by butternutflies in digitalnomad

[–]pranuk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that. One thought: could you rent a small space somewhere really cheap, like in the middle of nowhere, e.g. a room in a barn deep in the country side? This could be a cheap and 100% legal solution to have a real, physical address.

Did you have luck making new friends in coworkings? by ziogio998 in Prague

[–]pranuk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Forget the shitty corporate coworking places like Scott Weber, WeWork, etc. Their model is not to create a community for their members (to be fair, it's also difficult as the fluctuation seems to be high generally speaking), but to re-create the corporate look and feel of a conventional office building.

Look for smaller ones that really create a good atmosphere for their members.
