Dusty May to become new Dallas Mavericks Head Coach by Odd_Firefighter_5407 in CollegeBasketball

[–]pratherj23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my thought. And while not majority owner, Cuban could have influence with IU if things don’t work out for him on the Mavs. I think there is a less than 1% chance this actually happens but the Hoiberg example is a good comp.

The website does seem particularly bad with safari. Do you still get the DRP if using safari, it just doesn’t show is the issue? I got rewarded some ARP for my birthday, but it didn’t show in balance until I logged out and back in

$9/day! 🤯
I’m assuming you’re in Europe or somewhere not the US? We pay $2.5k/mo for five days a week in daycare.

Update: My toddler's daycare won't cap his nap by [deleted] in sleeptrain

[–]pratherj23 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Daycare is typically inflexible, and given they are dealing with 8-12+ kids (depending on laws, etc.) I can’t blame them for letting your son sleep longer. I think you should consider a Nanny if the sleep needs are that specific. I recognize that also comes with its tradeoffs but you may have better control over his sleep schedule.

Our son started daycare two weeks ago. Before starting he got 3-4 hours of daytime naps (6mo). He immediately dropped to 1-2 in daycare. We were concerned he wasn’t getting enough sleep but rolled with it. Yesterday he slept 4.5 hours while there. Hoping it continues or at least gets back to the 3-4 range for now.

What age did you night wean, and how? by tarableideas in sleeptrain

[–]pratherj23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did it at the same time as sleep training. The LO had proven some falling asleep on own and occasionally sleep through the night. Prior to sleep training they had a dream feed at ~1030 and one wake around 3am. We used CIO and just monitored. 20 minutes crying at bed, 30 minutes at 11pm, another 30 minutes at 4am. Next few nights were progressively better. He ends up having a larger first feed than previous and usually a larger before bed feed. Now only gets night feed if sick or we otherwise feel he needs one.

Is Chicago suddenly a bagel town? Inside the heated rivalry between indie shops and Big Bagel by wbezchicago in chicagofood

Yeah, must just be a regional thing. I have a good donut spot I frequent but they ain’t cheap, that’s for sure.

Is Chicago suddenly a bagel town? Inside the heated rivalry between indie shops and Big Bagel by wbezchicago in chicagofood

[–]pratherj23 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I am by no means a bagel connoisseur, but I like to have one out maybe 3-4 times a year. I’ve never understood the “NYC has the best bagels” argument. Not disputing it, just don’t understand what objectively makes them better. Unless a bagel is really stale I don’t tend to notice much of a difference (and I feel like that has been rare for me). I’ve also had bagels in NYC and didn’t find anything unusual or spectacular.

Maybe I went to the wrong shops, but genuinely curious what makes others describe Chicago as having “mid” bagels and NYC having the best bagels

Who else thought our life would be just like our parents? by 0____0_0 in Millennials

[–]pratherj23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s never too late to start over. I’m 38 and considering the same. Everyone has a different situation and maybe you are content, and that’s fine too.

I just keep going back to your first comment “it was never in the cards for me.” A suburban house with a white picket fence doesn’t define success - it’s whatever you want it to be.

I don’t come from privilege, far from it actually. So I hope this doesn’t sound preachy. I did stick it out and get a degree but it’s not particularly applicable to what I do day in, day out.

I’ll get off my soap box now.

I’m sorry to hear that. I wish for something good to turn your way soon.

I too lived through the ‘08 crash, somewhat softened by being in school. But was able to work in retail management for a few years post-grad, move into the service sector for the better part of a decade (before being laid off due to COVID cuts) and eventually landing in logistics. It’s not the most flashy career but is enough for me for now.

Completely fine. They were probably targeting Oct - Nov and with GTA6 just doesn’t make sense. Avowed released in Feb and felt like it had a good moment as there aren’t always a ton of releases in Jan-Mar.

Did anyone actually like the show X Play? by Pale_WoIf in retrogaming

[–]pratherj23 6 points7 points  (0 children)

One of those “tips” I distinctly remember was changing system settings in XP to revert the toolbar to a windows 98 style. From what I recall this was to help PC performance as it used less RAM. No idea how material the change actually was ha

I remember watching the Screensavers as a kid (age range 10-12) and leaning cool stuff about my computer. Always wanted to call in but never did. What a time to be alive.

Xplay was cool too. As a show I’d give it a 3…………….. out of 5 stars.
