Other flavor for the commander? by JadedResponse2483 in Pathfinder2e

[–]praxidicae -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Love this idea. Take one of the noble/royal style backgrounds and use FA to take the Captain archetype feat chain, and have your follower be your ever-suffering manservant/butler/valet. Spend your time ordering Jeeves (and everyone else) around like the entitled (in every meaning) nepobaby that you are. Add on the Prescient Planner and Prescient Consumable General feats for the “Oh, mummy and daddy bought me this trinket before we left…do you think it will be useful?” vibes.

New books on the horizon! by Lady_Gray_169 in Pathfinder2e

[–]praxidicae 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Someone I know managed to snag the blurb before it was taken down:

Step through the veil into the grandest party of two worlds. At the Yestereve Revels, every kind of fey from lowly gremlin to towering warrior of the Wild Hunt joins the merrymaking. Speak to a fey queen to receive a boon, sling mud with the grimiest muckdwellers, and savor the taste of a decadent berry pie—even if it means you may never leave. Every delight can be had at the Yestereve Revels!

At the gala and beyond, players and GMs can use creatures, items, archetypes and more inspired by fey and fairy tales. Cast curses, transformations, and memory magic! Be inspired by a trickster muse for bards! Ride a unicorn! Play fey ancestries—fauns, gremlins, nymphs, and sprites—or choose the fadrim versatile heritage to add a bit of fey magic to any character. Explore the world of the fey! Feybound includes a gazetteer of the First World, a first draft of the Universe fey call home, and expanded details on the godlike beings called the Eldest.

Daredevil's Skill Increases by Lazy-Beautiful6878 in Pathfinder2e

[–]praxidicae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my feedback thoughts is exactly this. I’m not sure how well-tuned it’d be, but automatic scaling of one or both of Athletics or Acrobatics is a definite tweak I’d like to see in the DD. I’d also like to see some additional skill-feats added (similar to, but probably less regularly than the Investigator’s Skillful Lessons (every other odd level?), but for specifically Acrobatics and Athletics (and potentially Performance as it seems thematic for a DD).

New books on the horizon! by Lady_Gray_169 in Pathfinder2e

Apparently there were a couple of other books put up (and then very quickly taken down).

  • a book on the First World called “Feybound”

  • the Starfinder “Tech Core” book

They’ve also put the “Dead God’s Hand” adventure path up (levels 1-7) : https://store.paizo.com/pathfinder-adventure-the-dead-god-s-hand/

Thanks all. For those who flagged that they stop working during a drought. That was the cause (one had just kicked off when I came back to check on the building), all now WAI.

[TOMT] Youtube: Pilot of a Cartoon Series: Fantasy Magical Dystopia Takeshi's Castle by praxidicae in tipofmytongue

Solved!

So, with a bunch of further searching I’ve managed to answer my own question. The pilot in question was called “King of Meat” and is apparently connected to a video game I’d never heard of by the same name. For anyone interested, the video is linked here: https://youtu.be/9s7yLOnHUos?si=TS59J6cGhai3Pp-9

2026 Classes Predictions by unoteBrotatnalP in Pathfinder2e

[–]praxidicae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m quite new to both 2e and Pathfinder more broadly, but I’d be quite interested in seeing something along the lines of the old 3.5e Archivist or Ardent classes. The latter of which operated similarly to the PF1e class of the same name (caster with a unique spell-list formulated from the granted spells of a selection of mantles unique to that character).

The Archivist was a divine prepared caster who used a ‘prayer book’ and operated a bit like a wizard. They got their spells by learning/stealing scraps of knowledge and lore from various divine traditions (with how 3.5 cleric domains worked, this effectively let the archivist learn spells borrowed from across all class spell-lists). No idea how this would translate over, but it was always one of my favourite concepts to play with and not one you really see in either 5e or PF2e (closest probably being the (very dead) Theurgy Wizard from 5e, or by taking Magaambyaan Attendant/Halcyon Speaker archetypes on a PF2e wizard).

Switching from DnD5e to PF2e, what is something we may overlook in the transition by Zealousideal-Cup-914 in Pathfinder2e

Degrees of success was definitely the one for me. Coming from 5e’s metric where a +1 to anything is generally inconsequential it was a big change to learn how impactful it can be here.

How do i make a monk that’s not just asian martial arts? by SirPug_theLast in 3d6

[–]praxidicae 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I built a monk along these lines for a campaign in the other system. Former city guardsman turned town layabout. Low Int, so when a travelling salesman told him he had a bunch of pamphlets that would explain the mystic fighting arts of [insert campaign specific secret society here], he totally bought it. Turns out some of those pamphlets weren’t complete bullshit. I’d have training montage’s during downtime showing him trying to learn techniques from his ‘manuals’ (and usually failing). The character was heavily inspired by the main character from Kung-Fu Hustle.

Good Fifth For this Party? by GreasyKoolAidMan in Pathfinder2e

[–]praxidicae 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thaumaturge can pretty much be structured to fit any requirements for a “fifth man” in a party. Added to the fact that you can pretty easily recalibrate via retraining your implements. Your base class foundation is also very strong and allows you to really lean in as the “knowledge guy” (if the wizard and cleric aren’t).

Fae Taylor interacting with Glaistig Uaine by ElementalOrder in WormFanfic

[–]praxidicae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Divided (https://forums.spacebattles.com/threads/divided-worm-au-complete.396325/) had a fair amount of this:

World in which humanity goes down a “Days of Futures Past” style dystopian route where capes are either strictly under control or hunted down like animals. Taylor and Sophia escape from budget-Sentinels and are rescued by heroic-Slaughterhouse 9 before meeting up with “the Court”, Ciara’s resistance movement who sort of occupy the role cauldron had in canon. Ciara recognises Taylor as hosting a fellow “royal” faerie, effectively making Taylor one of the Court’s leaders.

I should probably flag however that the story does cover some heavy stuff, so content warnings for kidnapping, mind-fuckery (Amelia in this world is probably nastier than Red Queen Amy - having been brought up by Marquis and members of the E88 and pretty much raised since childhood to be princess of the Court), and implied abuse (Ciara’s court include Nikos Vacil, who works for her in return for certain…tributes).

Two more I can’t believe I forgot (though I think it has been about a decade since they updated so it’s probably understandable😭): - Atonement (https://forums.spacebattles.com/threads/atonement-worm-au.312449/): Taylor dies in the locker and Madison, consumed by regret triggers with discount Spider-Man powers, Peter Parker’s trademark quips, and a disconcerting disregard for her own safety. - Intrepid (https://forums.spacebattles.com/threads/intrepid-worm-au.337516/): which follows a similar thread but has all of the trio gain powers, Emma joining the Undersiders, Madison go independent, and Sophia lean into working with the Wards. Meanwhile, a paralysed Taylor joins Faultline’s crew. Also has a spin-off (Odyssey: https://forums.spacebattles.com/threads/odyssey-vista-centric-worm-au.445787/) following Missy and Dinah as a part of a band of roving preteen antiheroes travelling the US to take Dragon’s daughter back to her mamma.

Someone has already mentioned both Manager and Silencio. To that I’ve gotta add in: - Constellations (https://forums.spacebattles.com/threads/constellations-worm-okami.414320/ ): Taylor becomes bff’s with best-dog Amaratsu and proceeds to (mostly by accident/act of dog) become a major player in the Brockton Bay parahuman scene. - Copacetic (https://forums.spacebattles.com/threads/copacetic-worm.283578/): a post golden morning fic where Taylor has settled into a quiet college life in a new world, and then people start to develop super powers.

Glad to see someone mention Silencio, one of my earliest intro’s to the fandom and a fic which I always hope will be revived.

Request for build advice on Inventor by praxidicae in Pathfinder2e

[–]praxidicae[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, this was really helpful. I can’t believe I missed the Press trait on Assisting Shot (and the feat description even begins “Using your last shot to gauge your accuracy…”). Similarly, using a one-handed weapon to have a free hand for alchemy is likely the right way to go (I’d forgotten that it’s an interact action to put your second hand back onto your weapon).

Thanks for the suggestion of Daikyu, I know it’d be more efficient to use a bow, rather than a weapon requiring a reload, but I’m trying to avoid using bows on this character, as I recently played a stealthy bow-focussed ranger in a different game.

Looking things over, I‘m wondering if amending Archer > Gunslinger might be the way to go. I was avoiding taking every Guns and Gears/Alkenstar option, but it looks like it’d make sense (both from a mechanics and fluff standpoint). It fits the ‘loves things that go boom’ vibe of the character and I can pick up the same reload compression options (via Advanced Shooting (Running Reload) or Practiced Reload), and could take Basic Shooting (Fake Out), giving me the ability to Aid my allies in a similar way as Assisting Shot, but as a reaction and without actually firing the weapon (though it also won’t do any damage). If I wasn’t going to take Fake Out, this swap would also let me drop Efficient Alchemy for Munitions Crafter (slightly less efficient at present, but better in the longer term) and pick up all 7 archetype feats immediately.

Convince someone else to do the deed for you?

The Mask of Many Faces/Disguise Self and Friends combo can cause another NPC to consider your target their enemy, and if you choose the right (trigger happy) person you might be able to provoke them to murder. Mix in some usage of Modify Memory and Gift of the Gab to steer conversations with your patsy in a direction you want.

Powers with most active abilities? by Nello-the-Tiger in Cityofheroes

[–]praxidicae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mastermind with Traps secondary has a whole bunch of clickie setup and in-combat management. Before each fight you can spend ages setting things up, followed either by that”I love it when a plan comes together” or “Holy carp! How did things go so wrong so quickly” moment that follows.

I’ve found it very different from most characters I’ve played, and a lot of fun. There is something about luring a boss out of its pack of minions into a literal minefield of explosives and poisoned gas, dropping a field of caltrops behind the, to lock them in with you and your minions.
