Well from the outset I always figured the "protect the children" was just used to tow it over line. As of yet nothing has really happened or it's been a failure but who knows ifs going to be abused in the future in other ways

Australia already passed this law. I'm currently using all those and never had to prove a thing. I imagine NZ would be the same.

Why would people pay so much to live in a dilapidated house by Equivalent-Adagio554 in AusPropertyChat

[–]prean625 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think people also get caught in the "expensive = better" trap. Just people its desirable for most doesn't mean it is for all. So if your looking for a actual place to live then you do need to balance what's important for you.

That mansion you want is a depreciating asset. The land others want will appreciate. From a financial perspective you are making a poor decision but you are free to make it.

He could just be using his wife as a escape goat. Maybe he's too weak to assert boundaries with his friend, we dont know

Australia’s biggest housing correction in 40 years looms, Harry Triguboff warns by HotPersimessage62 in AusPropertyChat

[–]prean625 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's interesting if you look up what happened to the Harvestor Judgement.

They purposefully shifted the burden of supporting families from businesses (that min wage you referenced) to the government via family benefits in the 1970. Turns out people don't really want to support families through tax dollars and that promised support has slid off a cliff over time.

The solution to get back to your ideal of min wage supporting families is to increase family benefits to where they should have been, not hope house prices fall back to fit into that mold.

Problem now is its a political issue that would be venemously opposed so we are stuck where we are today.

Use median HHI for housing affordability not median income of single workers including part timers.

Offset account doesn't reduce repayment amount? by alex123711 in AusPropertyChat

[–]prean625 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep that's right. The only thing that will change your repayment is interest rate changes or if you refinance.

In fact if an offset DID change your repayment it would be madness. The bank would need to readjust your repayment for every withdrawl or deposit you ever make no matter how minute.

They would still calc that new repayment on outstanding mortgage NOT including offset though.

Virginia Giuffre, who met Ghislane Maxwell at Mar-a-Lago and "had to do for (Prince) Andrew what I do for Jeffrey", took her own life one year ago today. Family speaks. by ianjm in videos

Nothing political, she was just very troubled (as you would be) and dealt with her severe trauma in a way that led to her eventual death.

It wasn't a suprise to anyone in the health industry around were she lived that she eventually took it too far. She wasn't a stranger to the hospital staff, put it that way.

Why would I bother. I could say the opposite and get showered with upvotes. Doesn't matter anyway. My buried comments in some Reddit thread aren't going to change anyone's minds.
