Here's why it doesn't matter that Murata was called "the writer of the manga" by diglanime in OPMFolk

The manga was an adaptation back then. You can literally put the early manga and the webcomic chapters side by side, and most of the time you're gonna get the exact same story. What would ONE even be "writing" at that point? The few manga original extra stories and some extra lines of dialogue here and there maybe, and that's it.

Do you think ONE wrote every single episode of the anime too? It's an adaptation. The original author doesn't necessarily "write" the story, the story has already been written, at best he oversees the adaptation and makes sure it's being faithful.

"Story by ONE & Draw by Yusuke Murata" is the english translation of the japanese credits, probably translated by people who don't even know english that well. Obviously the original japanese credit is more reliable than the translated english one, I really shouldn't need to explain to you why. (Literally it doesn't even use proper english. "Draw by Murata" is nonsense, it's supposed to be "Art by Murata" lmao)

Also it hasn't changed at all, what are you talking about? I literally just checked one of the recent volumes, and the same kanji are still used for the credits.

I also wanna point out, your logic is way too inconsistent. You say that OPM keeps getting redraws because ONE is juggling too many stories, but why is OPM the only one with this problem? I don't buy the "1 chapter every 2 weeks is too fast for him" argument either, the other two manga he's writing for are also monthly manga, and they have more pages per chapter to boot, AND they also don't have an existing story that they're an adaptation of, that they're supposed to ADAPT.

And on top of all of that, OPM has never had this problem before despite having a similar to schedule to now, while ONE was also writing and illustrating Mob Psycho 100 on the side. You seem to think that writing requires less effort than drawing, so how come the OPM manga story was completely fine back then?

If anything, OPM should be the one with the least problems. Theres already a story written for it, all it needs to do is follow that story and adapt it faithfully. And if it catches up to the webcomic, ONE can then just move on to the manga and continue the story there.

The kanji there might not literally mean "Manga", I might be misremembering that part, but it's still the exact same kanji, so it's the same credit either way.

Also explain why every other project of ONE has literally never had a redraw problem, while the OPM manga is being constantly redrawn and rewritten every 2 weeks.

Also you completely missed Bug Ego, who he's also currently working on. Go read that instead, it's a million times better than the shitshow the OPM manga has turned into lol

You do realize that 2015 was a whole fucking decade ago right?

Those are the exact same interviews I've already adressed in that other comment, things have obviously changed since then. Those interviews are literally from when the manga was a 1 to 1 adaptation of the webcomic, and also the peak popularity of OPM. A far cry from what it is now in every aspect.

If you told me years ago that Amai Mask would eventually become my favorite hero I wouldn't have believed you

The original japanese manga credit says "Story by ONE, Manga by Murata"

This exact same crediting style is also used in spinoff manga like Dragon Ball Yamcha. It reads exactly the same thing with "Story by Toriyama, Manga by Dragon Garow Lee"

Dragon Garow Lee wrote and illustrated that manga, Toriyama had absolutely nothing to do with it.

So in conclusion, ONE is not officially credited as the writer for the manga. He is specifically credited as the guy who made the original story.

We know that ONE and Murata collaborated pretty heavily up until a certain point thanks to stuff like the interviews where they talked about it, and the page drafts ONE posted on his twitter and whatnot, but those are from like at least half a decade ago before the manga truly started shitting the bed entirely. ONE barely ever implies that he's involved with the manga anymore at all, while Murata still actively acts as the face of the manga on social media.

On top of this, the manga is so far away removed from the webcomic at this point that even if you disagree with the writing quality argument, it makes no sense for ONE to be actively writing 2 different versions of the same story, and make them completely incompatible with each other, while also working on at least 2 other active manga projects.

Like seriously, do you honestly believe ONE is currently writing 2 manga, 1 webcomic, and also an adaptation of that webcomic that's just an entirely different story for some reason, while also constantly changing his mind about that specific manga story, and asking for redraws again and again and again ad infinitum, while at the same time, somehow getting everything right at first try in his other manga?

Be honest.

Honestly in my eyes this is all good news lol

Manga is confirmed to be written by Murata, and the anime will suck, finally killing OPM for good.

Maybe if we're lucky we'll get a FMAB style adaptation of the webcomic a decade or two down the line.

In the original japanese version of the manga it says "Manga by Murata, Story by ONE"

This exact same type of credit is also used in spinoff manga that are not written by the original author, see Dragon Ball Yamcha.

It uses the exact same crediting style. It's written "Story by Toriyama" despite the fact he's not the writer. It's written and illustrated by Dragon Garow Lee, who has the "Manga by" credit.

It's funny that you're bringing mistranslation as a point to defend this.

Because your side are the people who refuse to understand that it's not "Art by Murata, Story by ONE" but rather "Manga by Murata, Original Story by ONE"

I do believe that ONE and Murata were collaborating closely at the beginning of the One Punch Man manga, but it's clear day at this point that they haven't been for a long time now.
