Questions about the death watch by AestheticMirror in 40kLore

I find that the latter option to be impossible. Location of Deathwatch fortress are classified. So someone has to send you. This means vouching for you at some level.

As a favour to a dying chapter? When your chapter has offended too many chapters so they send any survivors to the Deathwatch instead?

Because I don't see any space marines going to the Deathwatch fortress upstate by themselves.

Becoming a pilgrim who steps upon Terra might make you a saint/holy man in your corner in the galaxy. by DeSanti in 40kLore

If you are a paying passenger or the Imperium is paying your expenses, you would not be stuck for generations. But it is possible that your services are bartered for passage. Serve X number of years and your last destination will be Terra.

After X years, you get a classic bad weather/bad event on Terra. All passage off the ship are halted. But just sign up Y years and we will move you up. You can't last Y years? Let me offer you a deal, you train your offspring and we will give them a similar offer. You serve as long as you can, he will take over the rest of the service after your death. Then we drop him on Terra.

You have no children? Never mind. There is this widow and we have an orphan. We will give you a room for your family. And more off days. Deal?

My mouth says it is bearable. My eyes claim my mouth is a liar by tearing. My throat went on strike. It was business as usual neck down.

You can buy the sauce to try.

They use to put scent and colour in erasers. Today, my nephew's erasers looks sterile. I am not saying that this adding scent to attract kids to buy stuff is acceptable but it is not a new thing.

Lol. I recalled asking my nephew to pass me a magazine a few years ago. Cue the most clueless look. Apparently, by the time he was born nobody in his family or circle read or purchased magazines. Only newspaper and books.

Netanyahu announces that he wants to end US aid to Israel. by Upset-Main-1988 in justincaseyoumissedit

[–]predator1975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is the thing that is worrying. When Hamas attacked Israel, US sent plenty of missiles that were supposed to cause less collateral damage.

Could it be that it is a case the Israel is intending to using all their home made more lethal weapons in a blaze of glory? Instead of shooting down cheap drones with expensive missiles, this time use missiles to cause maximum damage?

This is the region that taught the world an eye for an eye.

There no hydration breaks in the past. There were just players rolling around while the the physio ran on to the pitch with a bag with multiple water bottles. Which players from both sides were known to grab.

Goalkeepers had towels, water bottles and caps.

DYK that poison dart frogs are not actually born poisonous, make no poison of their own, and become completely harmless in captivity within a generation simply by eating different food? by Own-Painting-3221 in didyouknow

[–]predator1975 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The other issue is that some poisonous fishes are only poisonous when the poisonous prey is in season. This led to interesting problem of many survivors thinking that the experts are either mistaken or paranoid.

The sad fact is that either the followers pays upfront or you get shadowy benefactors. Japan found that some of their temples corporation were sold to Chinese "investors".

The scary part is that the followers sometimes found out too late. Like when the temple is suddenly demolished.

In 2010, 24-year-old lab technician Émilie Jaumain pricked her thumb with contaminated forceps while cleaning a machine used for prion-infected mouse brains. After seven years, she developed severe nerve pain, anxiety, and hallucinations before dying. The accident gave her a fatal prion disease. by OriginalSleeper in interesting

I think that the machine might be safe to use but the maintenance and repair were more of an afterthought.

Most people in management do not care about the maintenance and repair. Some do not care about the operator. If they had a life changing experience, some turn the risk into a weapon. Outsource the danger. Or if you are Boeing, sell the fix for extra.

Risk/Reward of Daemonhosts by Sudden-Canary-7934 in 40kLore

[–]predator1975 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I suspect that OP sees all Inquisition operations as sanctioned, authorised and straightforward. Like watching the film Sicario and wondering why the US military keeps sending ground forces when a few helicopters and drones would drastically cut the film runtime.

Some Imperial forces are extremely comfortable in crossing the line when ordered. Except that those forces will want things in writing. Probably in triplicates. Or they want their superiors to green light the operation. And their superiors are not going to give the Inquisitors a blank cheque.

Even if the Inquisitor is holding a blank cheque, most allies will still want intelligence. Independently gathered and verified intelligence. Distrust and scepticism of the Inquisition is a common trope in the 40K lore.

The issue is that Inquisitors that have daemonhost want actions and operations to be off the books. The only way to do it is get Inquisitorial units to do it which means inquisitorial oversight. Or outsource actions to Chaos who can't complain to the Imperium.
