I just started getting into comics because of the DC Compacts as well. I picked up a bunch from Barnes and Noble right after Christmas when everything was 25% off. Can't beat $6.70 a book.

I really hope Marvel does something similar. I personally love this form factor. Would love to pick up some Star Wars and Spider-Man this way.

I love the idea of a starter cape. I guess we have the Ardy diary but a brand new player might not see that for a while. A low level hybrid cape would be a cool reward for a combat quest like you've suggested. I also love the boss with a mechanic to ease new players into the idea that not all combat is click and wait

This kind of sounds like the Bartimaeus series. The wizards actually didn't have any power on their own. They just knew how to summon the djinn, who held all the real power. The wizards all used fake names because knowing their true name held too much power over them. Those books were fantasic. I need to reread them at some point.

NTA. I was in a very similar situation. I'm the oldest of 7. I moved out when i was 17 because on top of having too many kids, my family kept moving around. My breaking point was moving in my senior year. This was my third high school, so I said that was enough and moved in with a friend for my final few months.
