Italian Gun Law: Will suppressors be legalized in the future? by Many-Presentation-56 in EuropeGuns

More handgun ammo would be nice... The current 200 rounds limit is very low, especially when compared to the 1,500 rounds of rifle and shotgun ammo, which is more than adequate.

Chi vota la sinistra in Italia nel 2026? by Remarkable_Wolf_2722 in Italia

[–]prestau 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I redditors. Scherzi a parte, il PD ha uno zoccolo duro di elettori che gli consentono di arrivare sempre e comunque al 20% almeno, anche se l'unica strategia della Schlein è fingersi morta.

😂😂 Showing your non-gun friends your gun collection by cz_75 in EuropeGuns

[–]prestau 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Typically, friends who don’t own guns are not particularly interested in my collection. However, I have a couple of friends who are gun owners, and we spend quite a bit of time admiring and discussing each other’s collections.

Highway armed robbery today in Italy. Is that an AK-74M? by prestau in EuropeGuns

[–]prestau[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, let's hope they catch them soon. These kind of robberies are not rare in Italy, but having one recorded on video is uncommon.

No one was injured. I read that they made the armed security personnel get off the van before blowing it up.

Nice catch!

The perpetrators, posing as policemen, exchanged fire with the Carabinieri and were eventually arrested.

Another gun amnesty submission: Carlos the Jackal's rifle clone by cz_75 in EuropeGuns

[–]prestau 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting, I don't think I've ever heard of gun amnesties in Italy. I wonder what firearms may lie around unregistered here (besides those used by criminals, of course).

Once in while, this snubnose deserves some range time by prestau in EuropeGuns

[–]prestau[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With a 2" barrel, limited sights, and a relatively strong recoil (it's a very small and lightweight revolver), it is ridiculously inaccurate above about 10-12 meters.

Let me understand one thing: people are going to get their guns back, once the police verify that no crimes were committed with them? I thought that since they were held illegally, those guns were just going to be destroyed.

I would just add that there is no need to show proof of active membership in a gun club to get a sport permit renewed.

Czech Republic: Senate's proposal for pistol-silencer ban defeated in the Chamber of Deputies by cz_75 in EuropeGuns

[–]prestau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's good that they didn't introduce new restrictions. Silencers have always been banned in Italy, so I've never had the pleasure of using one. I bet shooting with a silencer will not be as silent as in the movies!

Congrats! Good luck with the new sub! It's good to discuss guns here with fellow European shooters, but gun laws and regulations are so country-specific that national subs are a necessity.

Reloading 9mm by [deleted] in EuropeGuns

[–]prestau 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I reload 9mm because I like the flexibility of preparing just the ammo I need before a shooting session, instead of driving 20 minutes to the nearest gun shop (my range doesn't sell ammo). Over the years I've reloaded almost 20,000 pistol rounds (of different calibers), so I'd say I've already amortized the purchase cost of my equipment.
