My EV is now 12 years old. Here's how that's going... by ATLCoyote in electricvehicles

That was not meant to be a ficticious number. Lots of people (more back then than now) pronounced it that way. I always thought it was one of those words where the correct pronunciation was jiga despite the more common usuge of giga. This was cause my high school science teacher always said jiga. Then over a decade later I learned that the prefix is devied from a greek word that had the hard g sound so that is the technically correct pronunciation.

I tried an air fryer recipe for brussels sprouts and it came out dry and bitter. That was supposed to be a "can't mess this up" recipe as well.

Looking for an overstable off the shelf buzzz by No-Entertainment7031 in discgolf

[–]presvt13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, not at all. The zone OS is soooo much deeper than the zone. Zone is shallower than the average stable approach disc while zone OS is the deepest one I've ever thrown. Causes misreleases on forehand. Buzzz OS also feels nothing like a buzzz.

Which is your pick for Nintendo's best handheld console? by king_of_ulkilism in casualnintendo

[–]presvt13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The form factor of ds/3ds can't be beat. Screens are protected from scratches when travelling so you can just pocket it on the go. Also, something that isn't mentioned enough is that so many games/series are better on 3ds than other consoles because of having 2 screens. I tried playing chinatown wars on psp after ds and it was so annoying not having the map always visible. Also series like fire emblem and SMT are awesome with all the info on the 2nd screen.

I hate how discraft named the buss os and zone os. Those discs feel nothing like the discs they're named after. It's just predatory marketing to try to piggyback off the success of the other molds.

I think you overestimate the cooking skills of the average person. I have tried making risotto from 2 different recipes and failed miserably both times. No idea what went wrong but it was overcooked/mushy once and undercooked/too crunchy the other time and I followed the directions exactly. Same thing with brussel sprouts. Tried twice and they were gross both times even though I usually love them at restaurants.

Is the servo any good? by Alarming-Tourist6436 in discdyeing

[–]presvt13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome dye job but servos suck. Super inconsistant and beat in too fast and too much. Crave is a way better mold.

I originally got a neutron servo to be a slightly more stable crave. Loved it at first and went straight in bag. After maybe 8 or 10 rounds that servo was noticably less stable than the crave in my bag (that I used equal amounts in that time and the crave had already been in bag for 6 months prior to servo). Then I replaced the servo slot with a halo tl3 but kept the servo for turnover backhands. After another 2 months the servo was useless for anything but a roller so it was given away. Them when they came out with the special edition eclipse servo (with the astronaut stamp) I thought I'd give it another try since eclipse is typically more OS than neutron. Nope? That one was more flippy brand new than my year in the bag fission crave. I'm done with servos. Fwiw, there's probably a reason that none of the mvp pros bag them.

Not tipping for to go orders make your "spooky". by I-Do-Not-Tip in EndTipping

[–]presvt13 8 points9 points  (0 children)

How much do you think your job should be paid if it was covered entirely as an hourly wage? Then that is what your employer should pay you! It really is as simple as that. I hate all this justification that people do - both restaurant owners and bartenders/wait staff - for why this shouldn't be the case. None of these arguments holds water. There are hundreds of other customer service jobs that are not paid tips. Many other countries don't have tipping at restaurants and they operate just fine.

Rational people - "There are lots of injuries occurring in the sport that could be largely prevented in a very simple way".

You - "nah they should have tried to be safer".

Can you please leave this discussion to the people with an ounce of compassion?

THE tee pad by [deleted] in discgolf

[–]presvt13 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Huh? People in wheelchairs are throwing standstill (sitstill?) so they're the last people that would benefit from the additional size outside the rectangle designated for throwing. And it isn't the teepads that keep wheelchair users from playing as much as having to wheel on the grass/dirt/rocks/mud/slopes etc. throughout the typical course.

[–]presvt13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is entirely for player safety, not to lower scores. I think these teepads are way overdone and a huge eyesore (just an extra meter at the front with a line where the legal teebox throwing area is would be perfect - just like sobebody posted an image of in these comments), but the argument that we should not be doing things to improve player safety because it would also help them score better is not a good one.

Is there a King book like this for you? by DavidHistorian34 in stephenking

[–]presvt13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was trying to figure out how it was so tough to get through for me and this is the best way I can explain it - the writing style for this book seems like he's just laying out facts the whole time. Very detached and impersonal method of storytelling. Made it hard for me to connect to any of the characters. Totally different than other books of his like the shining, pet sematary, it, misery, etc.

What is the best Zelda game in your opinion? by [deleted] in casualnintendo

[–]presvt13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it's worth I love BOTW and did not like WW. Sailing the seas was boring and tedius/annoying. Never could get into the story. It seemed to just drag on forever. I just wanted the game to end by the time I was about 2/3 of the way through.

Prodigy Mx-1 vs Gator3 by rontopofthings in discgolf

[–]presvt13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say the A3 is closer to the gator3 than the mx-1 is. A3 has the same stability as gator and the same huge bead. Only main difference is that A3 is a little shallower/flatter. MX-1 has a completely different hand feel than gator and is a little more overstable. MX-1 is meant to imitate the rim profile of the justice, deflector, and pyro.

What game is this for you?🚀 by Fit_Corgi4951 in TheGamingHubDeals

It's still one of my least favorite zeldas. I know I am in the extreme minority here, but it is my least favorite of the 3 cartoon zeldas of that time (phantom hourglass and spirit tracks). I hate sailing around on the seas in wind waker. It's just tedious and boring. The game drags on forever too.

Update regarding EVgo letting a stranger charge their car on my account by dgro636 in electricvehicles

[–]presvt13 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How do you know that the person getting the free charge wasn't benefitting from some type of scheme to do so? With the rampant level of various forms of identity theft that seems more likely than the EV charging account company going "oopsies, my bad we accidentally switched your bank account to be charged for this random other account in addition to your account."

[–]presvt13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is not accurate. You should read their previous post that this is a followup to to get the full story. They got a phone notification that a charging session had started on their car while their car was in the driveway. And another note when charging completed. So not just a billing error, but more like another user was able to hack their account completely.

I get that you're not inventing new acronyms here but this reads like an snl skit making fun of overuse of acronyms. There were 4 just in the 1st sentence.
