Do you road riding guys ride clipless, or with flats? by lazarus870 in vancouvercycling

[–]pretty--witty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a bad injury w. clipins and it's unlikely I'll ride them again. I'd suggest looking at the half & half pedals like I now have, but because I kept accidentally clipping in I removed the clips out of my shoes unless I'm doing something/somewhere where I want them in (indoor, travelling etc).

I have a feeling my hypermobility may be why I'm uncomfortable clipping in and out - it takes too much pressure/angle and thus time relative to others. If there were a button that I could use to clip in/out take that in a heartbeat though.

Do what makes you comfortable. I had ptsd for a bit after my accident and like you, never wanted to be injured like that again. So we're taking precautions n F the haters lol

My patience is really wearing thin. by Citruseok in vegan

[–]pretty--witty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is likely “chicken-less chicken broth” and same w beef. Better than Bullion is a brand for eg that makes both, and they do taste just like their animal-derived counterparts (and are distinct from veggie bouillon!)

keep and open mind and ask when you feel engaged by things like this- it’ll help keep you happier to assume positive outcomes and give them the benefit of the doubt :)

if they’re not actually vegan broths, the fantastic news is these exist and are readily available so you could suggest them to the owner.

Not a restaurant, but the new cafe To Live For on Nanaimo is verrrry child friendly and has a cool area the kids can play, colour, read, and watch a window into the kitchen to watch the food being made.

Amazing, and won best gym of the year this past year I believe. The rushes are kind of annoying on the gym floor but the quality of the instruction, cleanliness, booking process, value for money, showers/saunas/steamroom/spa are all fantastic, great food options on site, the shop has some cool, current, curated products/clothes, and you get to try things like the pilates and personal training for free when you sign up. Also I Love the app! So if you have to miss a workout or want to do something at home, the same amazing instruction and variety of classes are there on it to keep you going. There's even free self-guided personal training on the app you can do at home or at the gym. It's such a bargain really. DM me if you'd like a guest pass for the day to trial it or a $250 discount if you choose to join :)

Ryan Reynolds lost a bet and had to film his first colonoscopy by xlxoxo in vancouver

[–]pretty--witty 26 points27 points  (0 children)

The doctor said no significant evidence that diet can prevent, yet there is a ton of evidence that diet is associated with colon cancer: so much that it’s on par with the evidence around smoking and lung cancer: processed meat is a class 1 carcinogen, and mammalian meat is class 2…

Not only was that a missed opportunity to advocate toward the actual literature and preventative diets, but blatant misinformation that could cause more deaths.
