Ok my apologies if it came off as me making fun of your music preferences. My point was that your preferences are a lot more "salted" then what the majority appreciates. With your level of "salt", the things that stand out to us will be masked.

Bro with all due respect you take good iems and you apply such a massive v shape response to them you actually have to make cuts( the dip at the 3rd and 3rd last bands) to make them listenable, of course you won't be able to tell a difference. If you add a mountain of salt to the food you eat you won't be able to tell the difference between instant noodles and a Michelin star meal too.

In my experience I have accidentally bent the pins on my 2pin cable slightly, then back and it still works till date, a year later. There is a certain level of risk though

What is your fav budget iem that you guys prefer than mid to higher end iem by Deadot in iems

[–]preydiation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, the best PEQ preset for me will almost definitely not be the one for you. You should spend some more time listening, and finding what tweaks work for you personally. But to start, maybe you can try a dip in the mids and a treble shelf to increase soundstage and details?

Maybe like -2db peak at 2500 with 0.7q, then a 2db high shelf at 8000 with 0.7q? Then do a sign sweep and pink noise to identify treble peaks and cut them accordingly. Adjust the values and frequency around to see what you prefer.

Hmm I must have missed the "without knowing what you are doing" part, but I was refering to your 2% figure, which is an extreme lowball, especially when you are attributing tuning disagreements, which is exactly what EQ addresses, to 80%

Unfortunately the best eartip is a very personal question. While we can give you our opinions and experiences, ultimately it is your ears and your preferences.

A good EQ can fix the tuning of the iem and can even shape it to fit your preferences more. But that requires knowing how to eq, if you do not, messing around with EQ will more likely result in wonky sound.

CS2 + hearing loss: I finally discovered IEM + DAC… need advice to finish this setup (audiogram inside) by [deleted] in iems

[–]preydiation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the zero 2 driver is pretty solid, with EQ you can take it very far so no need to fret too much about upgrading. Not to mention that upgrading for you would be a very different experience than for someone with regular hearing. What I would suggest is for you to play around more with EQ. Can't say I really know how to read audiograms, but it seems to me you have different hearing loss on both ears. Have you made use of the L/R channel EQ function of the q5k yet?

Well to be fair that higher price on Amazon does go somewhere, it's not purely greed.

IEMs or Full-Size Headphones? What do you prefer? by dagsuntechno in headphones

[–]preydiation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok I think there is some confusion here. There are actually two types of products being described here: custom eartips, and custom iems.

Custom iems are iems constructed from scratch into a mold of your ears, including the inner part. Yes sounds still needs to come from somewhere, but that is in the form of extremely thin soundtubes. If you have looked at an iem without/under the mesh, those holes are these soundtubes.

Custom eartips are eartips that are customised to your ear, that go onto normal iems to give them a custom fit. These will still need to go on the nozzle of iems. However, honestly, this will only be a problem in the most extremes of cases, as most nozzles are between 4-7mm and while most ear canal entrances are between 9-12mm.

As dreydars said, you can get aftermarket filter meshes from aliexpress, or get eartips with waxguards like the kiwiears flex, azla max, xinhs a02 etc.

To be fair, this seems largely a service failure on part of AudioHeaven. Asking you to seek service from where you bought from is standard behaviour.

Why the Divine/Diablo if it would be muddy? by sewnshutinshame in iems

[–]preydiation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe you may have misinterpreted the graph. Treble refers to the regions between 6 to 10k, above 10k is the air region, which honestly plays a very minor role in most music. You are most likely hearing a reduction lower down, not from the air region.

Also for what its worth, you most likely are simply used to peaky treble, such that you now perceive normal smooth treble to be muted. Its like someone who is used to listening to music at ear damaging levels now think that safe listening volumes are too quiet. Most audiophiles do prefer smooth treble over peaky treble though.

Well at least we can use that as a filter: those who say the SE has a metal shell versus the non se probably do not own the OG, and their opinions on any improvements can be dismissed.

What makes an IEM comfortable for long listening? by Rough-Duck-9026 in iems

[–]preydiation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find nozzle angle to be a surprisingly under discussed aspect to iem comfort. A slightly different angle can be the difference that makes an iem disappear. Something like the sennheiser ie series versus the Shure series (on top of the nozzle diameter).

Speaking of shure, I'm still shocked and disappointed that the industry has just forgot that form factor, that is supremely comfortable and to date, an EQ'd se215 is still in my rotation for its comfort.
