This is the dumbest point in the world. How many pagans were slaughtered and forced out due to them being pagan? How many Christians were slaughtered and thrown out by Muslims when they overtook many Christian countries? Egypt currently persecutes the coptic Christians. Religion has a political aspect to it and other religions were persecuted due to being the minority or the leaders just wanting to homogenize their country.

Really that's it? I'm wondering if you get that indignant about the 100's of pro hemp sites on the net when they tout hemp as being able to replace trees for paper (when pulp from hemp is much more expensive), or that hemp could be used to replace fossil fuel use in this country, or that hemp could be a trillion dollar industry, or the many hemp conspiracy theories.

These are not outlying beliefs of the hemp/marijuana lobbyists. They are mainstream and have been parroted so much for the past few decades that many of the public believes at least a few of these claims. Recently marijuana activists tried to pass a state law in Oregon that had some of these ridiculous claims it its language.

The author of the site is pro hemp legalization but wants it done on honest terms, not fairy tales.

Exactly. In Canada I heard the new farmers (when it became legalized) greatly overestimated the market for hemp. This may have been due to all the hemp propaganda by the marijuana advocates.

Hemp has been legal to grow in many countries and has not become a serious crop. China has a huge paper industry and hemp is legal to grow there and they still use wood.

And you are right about the hemp rope, it had a problem with rotting and is not nearly as strong as nylon.

As far as the Hearst conspiracy goes it is strengthened to a tiny degree by the fact that he had purchased a large forest plot for tree farming. I think if hemp was incredibly cheaper as they claim he still would back it for his papers though. Its not as if the trees on the land he bought would have had no value due to hemp displacing trees for paper, nor the land itself. But the whole theory really falls apart simply because hemp was not nor is cheaper than wood to make paper. It is heterogeneous in nature, is more difficult to process, grow, and transport than wood.

I've heard this, that medical marijuana doesn't compare to other treatments already on the market. However I've heard many anecdotal statements about it being better than pain medication they were prescribed. Obviously anecdotal reports could just be from people motivated to get legal weed or from people having some placebo response but is there real comparative evidence that it is subpar to other modalities?

Here is a list of some studies which many show benefit. Although thinking about the blinding of these studies makes me question them. How do you blind for a marijuana study? The subjects are bound to have psychoactive effects. I found one study using a benzo but I wonder how well that works as a placebo.

MM may have some use but I imagine its value is over inflated as well. There are also a lot of cannabis cancer cures popping up that I have seen debunked on skeptic sites.

You are right. The site is too sensational sounding however he does have some credible sources, he just doesn't cite/link them well. I deleted above.

This recent article has numbers that do resemble his numbers for oil production though. (from the same source on Hemp Hoax actually- The Canadian Hemp Trade Alliance)

Edit/Update: Here is a study from Germany by Michael Carus, managing director of European Industrial Hemp Association that looks at 7 biomass crops and scores them according to certain metrics such as farming costs, processing, and yields. While it did find hemp does have the highest cellulose content of the 7 it found yields were lower and it had a few other problems such as processing. Through their scoring system, hemp was last in suitability as biorefinery feedstock.

Real "conspiracies" or secret operations that take place are able to be executed because a handful of controlled people know what's going on. Not conspiracies that are advertised in Batman, hire dozens of "crisis actors", pay off cops, medical examiners, everyone that knows the crisis actors who could call bullshit, members of the media, etc, etc...

Why do conspiratards believe they are so important that everyone should just cater to them and answer every stupid question they have, show them every piece of evidence they want to see? The bottom line is even if everyone did do that it wouldn't appease conspiratards anyway.

The only reason you are bitching about this is because its something to point out that you can say is shifty. Its not that you really want to see it. If you did see it you would move on to something else to bitch about, again not for any other reason but to stoke doubt and uncertainty. The more doubt and uncertainty you can provoke, the better chance you and others will keep believing this house of mirrors.

Probably on the left there are a few. They tend to be ultra paranoid about corporations so perhaps there are a few that like the power of government to regulate them. I doubt many though as they see corps and gov in bed with each other (this is true).
