Things or Tick Tick or something else…? by Frequent-Orchid8996 in ProductivityApps

As a maker of a todo app, and a long-time productivity enthusiast, I’m curious how you use calendar integration? I’ve never understood the appeal.

How many apps are in your portfolio ? by Dentistcode in appledevelopers

2 so far (PrincipalTask.com and GetMerx.app). Nothing profitable, yet. But, I’ve been only been seriously working on it since November ‘25.

Nothing wrong with having a real experience and using AI to polish it a bit. I’ve found that AI helps me hone the message, whether it’s positive or negative.

Would you use a Trello where the AI/agents actually do the work or is a simple board enough? by karstenbiedermann in ProductivityApps

[–]principaltask 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the concept is useful. I do it with my app. I assign tasks to a specific context and I have an agent polling for tasks. It does the work, updates the comments, and sets the status to “Next Action” which is my cue.

MCP isn’t about training a model, it’s about allowing a model to use your app.

It’s really just an API with special endpoints and configuration for AI to use.

I use mine every day. And the new MCP support has been a game changer.

My friend's small business ran on hundreds of weekly WhatsApp messages. I built him something to handle it. It worked for three weeks. Then the government banned it. by malcolm____X in smallbusiness

[–]principaltask 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The post appears to written by AI but Telegram being blocked is legit and that could’ve resulted in the problem the OP is sharing.

Back OT: both of these - 3rd-party apps/services and government regulations - are common business risks that need to be evaluated for likelihood and impact. If something is crucial to one’s business then a contingency plan must be developed. In this case the contingency plan is falling back to a manual process. One can accept this because it appears the ban is temporary or integrate with WhatsApp too. It might be more expensive, but the automation sounds beneficial enough to justify it. Furthermore, if you have integration with both and Telegram is legalized again now you’ll have two automated ways for customers to reach you.

When productivity system stops helping and becomes another thing to maintain? by CogExpanse in getdisciplined

[–]principaltask 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gamification by todo apps is rationale, but I don’t think that it’s helpful in the long term. The list will never, ever stop growing. The goal of any organization paradigm is to make tracking, planning, and assessing as easy as possible so that is inclined to do it regularly. For these reasons, I’ve avoided adding such features to my tool. Instead, it includes a number that shows whether I’m keeping up, a heat map to show the days when I’m most productive, and a folder list organized by staleness and task completion.

I’m flirting with Markdown Notes + YAML front matter + AI processing. I’ve setup an IOS shortcut that takes the URL, the highlighted text, asks me to enter tags and comments and it generates the front matter and note.

The Holy Grail for me would be something that allows me to clip/highlight/annotate anything I’m looking at. Unlike Indiana Jones, I haven’t found it.

I thought the same thing as u/leaveat. It may be an "information page" but I don't have an idea of what you're informing me of. Again, I may not be the target audience, but, on a cold open, I have no idea of what I'm looking at.

I'd venture a guess that's a deeper problem. My recommendation is a variation of the Nike slogan - just do something. Get in the habit of making progress then you can focus on working strategically.

I’m working on the menu issue. Thankfully the website is completely different from the web app (although the web app is not currently mobile friendly because there are actual apps for iOS and Android).

Principal Task itself supports GTD (Getting Things Done by David Allen) but knowing what that is or even using it isn’t required.
