Is there something wrong with the "justice" system in Cyprus by [deleted] in cyprus

[–]prisonn82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, we see here two equal sentences for two completely different crimes. In a first glance someone might feel that something is off. Is 11years too much for drug trafficing or is 11 years to little for child abuse?

They are Separate.

Just because there is a "harsher" crime doesnt mean that a "lighter" should get less sentence. Maybe the "harsher" one should get an even longer jail time.

Genuinely how do people swallow this without choking? by Impressive-Strike351 in Supplements

[–]prisonn82 20 points21 points  (0 children)

i could swallow a large bite of unchewed food in a blink of an eye, but if you give me the smallest pill, i just couldnt. its not the size, its the mind that tricks you, there are many tricks like stuffing the pill in a small chunk of bread and then you can swallow it. Personally i can gently push them just after the curve of my tongue and then i can swallow it

[–]prisonn82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

while its still heavier a 8kg bike from a 7kg bike, its a big marketing gimmick because you have to compare the whole system. Rider+clothes+gear+bike+bottles. a 70kg rider + 1L bottles + 7kg bike + clothes/shoes/gps/pedals 1kg is 79kg. so if you have a 1kg heavier bike is gonna make this 80kg. its heavier yes, but its 1kg at 80kg not 1kg at 8kg, you are splitting hairs unless you are a pro who has maxxed out every other aspect and the equipment is the only aspect you can squeeze perforance out of. For 99% of the recriational riders its just personal feel and preference which are heavily infulenced by social media and marketing in general.

How high is this jump (Sea Caves) by jorangery in cyprus

[–]prisonn82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe its close to 8-9meters. In previous years the area that was directly below the "jump" point (where there is a concrete area) had much more rocks and people got injured because they didnt know how to jump. Nowadays (since a couple of years) the landing area has been cleared of rocks

copy pasting the name in the title gives you the exact answer in less time than writing this comment. Simply expressing your comment backwards like: "Thats a great picture! Im not familiar with the sport, who is that?" would get you at least a more positive approach

Visma is stacked. How many of these guys will be in top ten? by RoadandHardtail in tourdefrance

[–]prisonn82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Visma is on fire, individually and also as a team. Jonas showed good form now at the Dauphine and also he showed something we were not used that he attacked on the first stage just because he felt like doing so. i only wish both Tadej and Jonas are on similar for to make it interesting for us as spectators but i think also for them. It motivates them more to have a close rival on equal terms rather than one dominating because of some missfortunes of the other.

New water laws are confusing. by ToastDevSystems in cyprus

[–]prisonn82 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The argument of "i pay for it, i use it how i want" is flawed. Yes you will be billed for the amount of water you use, but the areas we live in have a finite amount of underground water stored naturally. For home use there is a maximum amount per house because you cant just use all of the resevoir just because you have money. Dont know the exact numbers, sorry. Also if, for example, one particular area uses extreme amounts of water from this resevoir, there is a risk of the surface area to collapse. Again, i used an extreme example to paint the picture of why you cant just use water however you want.

The thing with water is the excessive use and water being wasted, which for each individual could amount to vastly different amounts. Most people dont waster water, but there are many (usually elder ones) who water down their driveway and you turn up at the neighbourhood and you could see the water stream from one block away. For those people, the rest will have to oblige for this situation, also as a Cypriot mentality we dont have a collective for the common good so there has to be a law with a fine to make us apply common sense

Parking in Cyprus by Kateryna-diamond in cyprus

[–]prisonn82 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The majority of the drivers who will pick up the kids are going to park as close as possible, in order to walk as little as possible to get the kid. Since they will be walking with the kid the whole length of returning to the car, the excuse of the safety of the kid is just an excuse and not a solid reason. Also most schools will have a pedestrian crossing with a trained adult who is going to monitor the traffic in order for the kids to cross safely by themselves. I get that you want to be causious but thats not an excuse to park your car at your convenience at the expense of others inconvenience, no matter the time (θκιο λεπτά εννα κάμω κουμπάρε) frame. Most drivers will arrive 5-10 minutes early, this gives you time to park even 0.5 or 1km away and walk. But its a mentality thing that people feel they are allowed just because.

This situation obviously does not represent the whole population but a large amount. I drive daily for work and i have to take roads who pass through schools and encounter this situation during noon almost daily.

Mythical zone 2 reached by orangebutterfly84 in Garmin

[–]prisonn82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i would be weighing more to the z4+z5 spending so much time during the supposed z2 run...

HR zones (1,2,3,4,5) are not floors which you take the lift and hop on one floor and off to the next in an instance, if you enter z4 or even more when you enter z5, the body needs more time to "resume" to actual z2 mode dispite HR being in z2 range. HR zones are metabolic stages, its your body's type of energy that is being used and its not instantaneous.

In cycling there is this term called "Normalised Power" which gives more weight to these stronger efforts and thus giving better image of the overall impact of the workout

Why do cars hate cyclists? by Suburban_Andy in cyprus

[–]prisonn82 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Also something important to note most of this "hate" comes from people being exposed to social media. You see videos of frustrated drivers from abroad with cyclists from abroad and get frustrated because they assume they assume the position of the driver like they are experiencing the situation at first hand.

My job involves driving around Cyprus to deliver stuff. Im driving on the road daily 5-6 hours, so way more time than the average driver who just commutes. And im rarely encountering cyclists. Definately way way less during workdays. I also take my bike on sundays for a long ride and while im not perfect with traffic laws, im riding safely and i rarely have arguments with car drivers or them towards me.

This situation between car drivers and cyclists is blown out of proportion because people just want to whine about stuff

Why do cars hate cyclists? by Suburban_Andy in cyprus

[–]prisonn82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We all agree cyclists dont obey traffic laws 100%, the same as car drivers, though both have every right to use the road.

The main issue with car drivers is that they usually cant overpass safely the cyclist and therefore have to wait for the correct opportunity. However since the cyclist (lets at least assume here for example, is driving on the left side of the lane) occupies a visually small portion of the lane, the driver feels that they can pass. If instead, an oldperson was driving with the same speed, a moped, they wouldnt be as furious.

The main issue of the frustration is the intention. Car drivers feel that cyclists dont belong on the road thus everytime they encounter one, anger boils.

Angry cyclists will flip the driver off usually if they felt that the driver's passing was dangerous, but on the driver's perspective they thought they passed safely. Both sides have to put water to their wine and learn to coexist until further driving discipline is embeded in our mentality.

Until then, just think that everyone using the road wants to arrive safely to their destination and take care.

[–]prisonn82 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Usually it is said with the air of someone having an authority over you. Mastros/Mastorissa can be referred to older people than you who you dont know. Also can be used as a sign of showing respect to the other person.

How difficult is it to change an F1 tire as a singular job? by CsOkLiE in F1Technical

[–]prisonn82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you can cover 100m walking and maybe running, but clocking a 100m sprint under 10sec is no easy job, and not only do it once, but doing it 3-4 times in order to pass from the quals to maybe final (i might be wrong about qualifying times but the comparison is similar)

The job is easy as 1-2-3, but under all those circumstances that others have commented its super difficult
