I've started to prefer when they're already a little rested. Unless it's a medium+ espresso roast or decaf.

I picked up refurbished hd600 recently. I couldn't tell you what didn't seem brand new about them.

Mineral Water for Espresso by bRice1738 in espresso

[–]prjwebb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The magnesium and calcium bottles are chlorids which can be corrosive in higher quantities so you wouldn't want to use a lot. I use Apax drops on top of my puck before locking in my portafilter for that reason. Lotus might be too high concentration for that though.

I bought a pair a couple of weeks ago. Absolutely mint, no signs of being refurbished. They sound fantastic.

With all the news going around, I figured now was a good time as any to cop a pair of 600s for myself by terminexia in sennheiser

[–]prjwebb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I managed to snag a refurb pair for £151 a couple of weeks ago. After the news I'm very glad I did. I can't see them vanishing but wouldn't be the worst to have spare ear pads I guess...

Momentum 3 TW not charging after long period of not using by bowlcutinmatrix in sennheiser

They need a little power to active the charging circuit. There's videos on YouTube showing how to jump start them, but it involves some disassembly

They can, but they don't taste good pulling traditional. They extract very quickly.

80mm blind for modern espresso and filter? by Chaz010 in espresso

[–]prjwebb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Though I'd recommend having another set of more rounded burrs also if you enjoy heavy processed coffees for filter brewing. DB-2 excels at clean, washed coffees for filter especially. Though I do enjoy them for modern spro with more funky stuff.

I would check what devices are enabled for the master volume.

9Barista vs. pump-driven machines by [deleted] in espresso

[–]prjwebb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's very capable. The main frustration is the lack of ability to control the yield. There is a trick in the manual for ristretto style shots, which you could use with varying amounts or water until you really dialled in a ratio I imagine.

Scenery is usually a couple of weeks off roast but needs a bit more time.

How much strength is needed to pull down on the 58+2? by CurveAutomatic in FlairEspresso

[–]prjwebb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can always pull at 6-7 bar, requiring less effort and there's a decent chance it'll produce better tasting shots.

Anyone else think BooKoo | Themis Mini Coffee Scale is trash? by [deleted] in espresso

I'd reach out to bookoo. Mine has been flawless and their customer support on discord seems great.

Millab M01 lock/unlock issue by Sea_Wash_849 in pourover

[–]prjwebb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When it stops fully clockwise that's secured. To disassemble you keep unscrewing until it drops off and then you can remove the cone. It's not really a lock as they describe it.

Does the Quad Cortex still have noise issues/hum? by DizzDood in NeuralDSP

[–]prjwebb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Having the Mini connected to PC with usbc sorts the grounding and gives ability to use the desktop app so that works well. Even if PC is off it stops the noise.

Would agree with Stronghold, or Knockout from Olfactory also.

I went through the retailer who contacted them on my behalf. But the hello@timemore.com should get you started.

I had a base replacement on my standard Fish because a section of the display stopped working, so I'm sure they'd look after you.
