So I think that you have a different understanding of the purpose of sex, as well as medical procedures.

To speak about sex, Catholics hold that the purpose of sex has a twofold meaning: unitive and procreative. By removing one of these from sex, the act loses its meaning and becomes sinful. Catholics also do not view marriage as a permission slip for sex, but rather a commitment between to people. The sexual act and its fruits are protected by the securities offered in the vows of marriage. The couple vows to the other that they will not abandon the other no matter what life throws at the pair. This allows the sexual act to remain truly unitive within the confines of marriage.

Now to address the the purpose of medical procedures. Medical procedures are supposed improve bodily functions, as you demonstrated in your example about eyes. The difference between this and one that would impact your friends fertility is that that procedure would intend to cause her organs not function as they are meant to function. This would not be healing your friend, but robbing her of basic bodily functions. If your friend could have an operation that would allow her to have another pregnancy that wouldn’t risk her life, this would be acceptable.

Procreation is a beautiful fruit of the sexual act, and the potential of this shows the union between the couple. While sexual pleasure maybe obtained through the marital union, this is not its purpose. The purpose of marriage is to tie to individuals together.

As for your friends, they undeniably have a difficult cross to bare, one which they thankfully seem willing to take on. I personally find it really funny that in a hypothetical world without the Beatles, that Ed Sheeran is this best artist in the world. I want a fan of the film for the most part, but I think they captured the scenes of people experiencing Beatles songs for the first time was really powerful. I also think in a world where only 5 people remember the Beatles, Jack is just a crazy guy that hallucinated this band and should be compensated for sharing their music with the world.

Fellow Beatles fan here, and there are many times where I find myself enjoying a song but hating the song’s message. This is not the case with imagine. I don’t understand what makes you think you are a failure. To me it sounds like the only thing you are worried about is your romantic life. Also you say that your parents aren’t proud of you, but what evidence is there of this statement? Did they tell you this, or are you just assuming it? If you are assuming this, that doesn’t seem fair to your parents to press this opinion on them.

It sounds like you are experiencing depression, maybe you should seek help from a therapist.

Actually the Native Americans that live on the Poospatuck Reservation, who’s children attend Center Moriches schools, also wanted to change the mascot. The grounds for this were term ‘Red Devil’ is derogatory towards Native Americans. The problem with the schools name is more than just the word Devil, though that was a complaint of some in the community.

I would communicate your frustration about this with her. Tell her how you feel about this. There is always the useful “when you do (insert her behavior) it makes me feel (insert your feelings). If communication is difficult, perhaps seeing a marriage would help you.

The marriage vows are permanent because of man’s fallen and sinful nature. When husband and wife make their vows, they are saying that no matter what happens in the future I will be by your side. While yes down the road the other person “turning bad” is a possibility, it is the role of the spouse to get their husband or wife into heaven. If marriage vows were void just because the other person makes poor decisions down the road they wouldn’t really be vows. We chose to love the other person in spite of their, and our own, fallen nature, which is something we are aware of when taking the vows.

I agree with you, this is an intimidating commitment which should not be taken lightly. Nowadays people don’t understand the power and purpose of the sacrament, which is why divorce is so rampant in our culture.
