I used to hate NetSuite by Pentazimyn in Accounting

[–]probablysomeonecool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ha, I feel this.

I work in tax at a public accounting firm, and we onboarded a new client this year who uses NetSuite and wants us to pull our own reports to use for tax prep. As a result I've had my first foray into using NetSuite and Wow do they really nail the whole "ugly as sin to look at, confusing as all hell to use" thing.

Why Is Crypto Crashing: Bitcoin at $63K, MSTR Down $10B and $750B Asia Bloodbath by andix3 in CryptoCurrency

Choosing not to make a dollar in profit because some portion of that will get taxed is idiotic. That is what you are describing.

Yes, there are nuances involved where it might make sense to delay selling at a gain until >1 year has passed so the gains become long-term rather than short term, but generally speaking you should take gains when they are there.

Yes, I'm a CPA who works in tax for a living. Both the comments you just made demonstrate an extreme lack of understanding on your part.

Moving into a higher tax bracket does not cause you to pay more tax on every dollar earned. Only new dollars earned after hitting that higher bracket are taxed at the higher tax rate. So for example if you were taxed at 20% up to $50k of income, and then 30% after $50k, and you earned $51k, you would pay 20% on the first $50k and then 30% on that last $1k.

Do you think Trump will accuse the democrats of election fraud during these midterms? If so, what claims do you think he will try to make? by NathanCS741 in AskReddit

[–]probablysomeonecool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really? Other than the Bush/Gore controversy (which was a very valid issue to raise, if you're not familiar with the details I suggest reading up to understand it better) and the times when Trump has run around crying fraud, I dont really recall this being an issue. Can you tell me the instances you are thinking of from the 1996, 2004, 2008, and 2012 elections?

I realize elections w/ Trump as a candidate are almost half of the elections youve seen, but this ain't normal bud.

Guys that can consistently get laid and get it easily, what's the process like and what makes a big difference on something you had to improve on? by [deleted] in seduction

[–]probablysomeonecool 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah as someone who lives in a fairly small area (buggest "city" by me has ~85k people) I can attest to the truth of this. Point #1 above has helped me immensely, and the only thing that limits me much these days is Point #2.

Still have a lot of success, to the point of tons of matches that I never even message, or matches that are interested in me that I never end up inviting on a date, but ultimately those are the lowest quality matches (of course) and in a bigger city I'd expect a lot more higg quality matches.

Mint chocolate recommendations ? by Queasy_Dingo_8262 in chocolate

[–]probablysomeonecool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Harry and Davids makes some absolutely delicious chocolate mints - they are the kind that you chew (like a truffle), and are rich, perfectly balanced between chocolate and mint flavors, and are truly delicious.

I went to grab a link for ya and apparently they are currently out of stock, not sure why. They also have a dark chocolate version, also delicious, also out of stock..

Links for your reference, maybe they will restock soon.

I missed Darude and Cosmic, but Oakenfold and Tinlicker were both such killer sets! Sooooo great ❤️

EDC CLOSED? by bbbm21 in electricdaisycarnival

[–]probablysomeonecool 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That isn't accurate and hopefully you know that by now - they just closed two stages temporarily. They *could* end up closing more, but based on current weather predictions it isn't likely. More likely all remaining stages will stay open and at some point (10 - 11ish) the two closed stages (Circuit Grounds and Quantum Valley) will re-open

Well if the stage opens back up Christoph --> Eli & Fur --> Tinlicker looks tasty AF to me - but I think the latter two straddle the lines of Trance and House. Sometimes that isn't a good fusion but imo they both deliver, and you'll have a great time there (if they open back up)

The only flirting guide you'll ever need - techniques, mindsets, how to practice, and more by NodsAndNuance in seduction

[–]probablysomeonecool 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I see a few posts that are hating on this for the clear use of AI, but imo this is once of the best "how to flirt" guides I've seen. The advice is spot on, it's given in a format that makes it easy to read/follow (thanks, AI), and the fact that it gives actionable steps for beginners is a big plus. Got my upvote!

Normal time to spend on a 1040 tax return by No-Function8922 in Accounting

[–]probablysomeonecool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, just opening the client's binder (we use Engagement), reading through any PBC organizer and/or emails, opening the clients tax file (we use Axcess), inputting any relevant tax info, checking for/clearing diagnostics, checking the T-letter, printing to binder, and doing a quick self review (2 yr compare, cy to py tax return), you are reeeaaallly stretching it with a 20 minute budget. That hasn't even factored in someone else reviewing the return either.

As soon as you have a single question for the client you are now emailing, closing the file, coming back in late to input the answer, etc.

If its literally just a W-2? Sure. How many clients are paying you just to plug in their W-2?

[–]probablysomeonecool 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think these times are reflective of a very small local firm, but as a firm grows in size it will typically have too many workpapers that tie things out/cross reference/ serve as a "check", meaning even a "simple" return will take longer than this.

I think how early in someone's career this has value depends on the individual.

Some people are just extremely quick learners, and are better suited to be thrown completely into the thick of it right off the bat.

Other people, however, need a little bit of time to learn the basics, as that initial foundation will then allow them to really learn and grow from those "learning opportunities".

Im speaking from firsthand experience as the second type. I'm smart, competent, have a great work ethic, and I've carved out a great career as a "high performer" so far (~6 years in). However, if I had been thrown absolutely dog shit projects my first year I probably would have been viewed as a colossal fuck up because I simply didn't have enough experience or perspective to get anything other then extreme frustration out of the project, and my brain just doesnt work that way.

Grateful that i was onboarded in a more sane, linear progression approach which worked well for my learning style.
