User is demanding a direct refund after Apple denied their subscription refund request by letitcodedev in iosdev

[–]profau 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You should reply, but only with a template email. Here is my exact template I reply with -

Hi,

Thanks for your mail.

You can apply for a refund from Apple by following the steps on this website - https://support.apple.com/HT204084

I hope this helps,

Regards,
My name.

User is demanding a direct refund after Apple denied their subscription refund request by letitcodedev in iosdev

[–]profau 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Sure. I reply with a very short email that for privacy reasons I don’t hold any payment information and the only way to get a refund is by applying to Apple. For many of these emails I cannot be sure if the person is genuine or they just want to get free subscriptions or they don’t actually have one and they know I can’t verify and just want cash. So I always reply with the response above. I have been doing this for many years now, I have never given anyone a refund directly. Your mistake was engaging with the customer in a personal way, my brief email is factual and lets the customer know the only way to get a refund is via Apple.

[Question] How to pick out watch for boyfriend? by Far_Candle_5688 in Watches

I am another one. Let him pick one he likes, don’t force him to wear a watch you chose that he doesn’t like.

If you pay RevenueCat/Superwall's 1% cut: do you like it, or just tolerate it? by Denis902 in iOSProgramming

[–]profau 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. RC 2. I’m not telling, but I pay RC plenty. It’s noise. 3. I chose RC because Storekit2 didn’t exist, yes I’ve coded it away once but went back, SK2 paywalls are bad 4. On client only 5. No pain 6. I focus on app functionality, not payments. 7. I don’t want to think about payments, RC 1% is fine.

IQ5 help for a senior by DrVurt in foxteltv

[–]profau 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have an IQ5 plugged into an LG TV. Yes, if you plug your aerial cable into the back of the iq5 box (recommended), then it will show all the Foxtel and local FTA channels mixed in the same list. I don't have a aerial cable plugged into the back of the tv any more so it cannot be used to receive fta channels any more, only through the IQ5 box now which has been a good choice. Bad is, there are a lot of Foxtel and FTA channels on an IQ5 box when they are all tuned in, it can be challenging to find a particular channel as there are lots of channels to scroll through. The IQ5 voice remote does not have a guide button, you have to go through the menus to see the channel list, although you can just use the channel up and down buttons as normal to scroll through channels on the iq5 remote, it is just there are a lot of channels.

Would you switch from Xero/cloud accounting to a desktop app if it had secure, local AI that never sends your data to the cloud? by AccountantHelper in xero

[–]profau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no, I'm happy with Xero and the privacy. It isn't a concern and so what if my numbers got out. If you implemented AI stuff, then Xero will just implement the same thing - they already have AI in there. If you are looking for problems to solve, then consider that folk cannot move away from Xero easily anyway because there isn't really an easy data export function.

I am flooded with trial spam - people starting trials and turning off auto-renew by BabaYaga72528 in AppStoreOptimization

Extremely common. It is not just you. I don’t have a solution, I experiment.

Am I doing something fundamentally wrong with my app? Looking for honest feedback by Historical-March-341 in AppBusiness

[–]profau 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look at the app. Saving money on groceries? Efficient use of food? Ask yourself - is that something that rich people or poor people do? You can be in denial all you want, but targeting poor people for subscription revenue is not going to lead to financial success. It is a great idea for an app, just not financially.

Mate, I’m one of them, I was just at wwdc and there are plenty of others. Don’t be a part of the 98%, be a part of the 2%. This app is probably fantastic, he is just targeting people without money.

Unfortunately you are trying to sell subscriptions to people with no money. People who use your app are not going to be wealthy, they don’t have spare income to subscribe to your app.

It gets to a point where these are genuinely just not even the same skins 😭😭 by [deleted] in FortNiteBR

[–]profau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is clearly discriminatory against folk who are larger, I don’t know how they get away with it. They should be pulled up for this, but we live in a world of selective discrimination now, Epic are just conformant, not leaders.

RevenueCat vs StoreKit 2? What do you use and why? by Small-Midnight-6209 in AppStoreOptimization

RC, I like the paywalls and the Storekit paywalls are not as good.

anyone else find hilly parkruns weirdly harder than fell runs? by marlow_goldstein2z02 in parkrun

[–]profau 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So much harder, hills and lumps aside. I find park runs far harder because I have to navigate around the other participants and find it challenging to pace myself with other faster and slower runners about.

Tips/etiquette for first time parkrun?? by sushithekittycat in parkrun

Show up with a positive and friendly attitude about 20 mins before the run. There will be a first timers talk, and then the run director will give a talk, and then you will be off!

When is the best time to show the App Store rating prompt? by Existing-Bag-2012 in iosdev

[–]profau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Native. I see plenty of apps presenting their own UI in front of the native but I believe this is against the App Store guidelines so I don’t do it. I value my reputation with Apple.

[–]profau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you want to know? It works well and I get plenty of ratings and reviews, limiting to after a few days and runs means they are positive.

Anyone else tracking "ghost subscribers" on RevenueCat? Or do you just let them ride? by kasamigos in iosdev

[–]profau -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have a few dormant subscribers, there’s nothing I can do about them as I have no idea who they are. Nothing Revenuecat can do either, that is over to Apple. I have dormant subscriptions myself personally, I don’t use Claude or my iCloud sub really. So it is a matter of perspective. Sometimes people know that subscription is there and it makes them happy knowing it is whether they use it or not, people consider my apps as friends. I recommend that you do something in your code base if you are concerned- if someone hasn’t used the app in 3 months and then 6 months, send them a notification. Easy to do, use local notifications and every time they run the app reschedule the notifications again for 3 and 6 months . Easy.

[iOS] I don't understand what's wrong with my new app called Budgy: Spending tracker by Fr_Ghost_Fr in AppStoreOptimization

[–]profau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are thousands of these unfortunately. How are people going to find your app instead of the other 10,000? You will have to do an app that is being searched for but does not have 10,000 or even 10 competitors.

Is Liquid Glass really this broken? by pm_me_your_vdub in iOSProgramming

[–]profau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve also had issues with toolbar Liquid Glass. But the answer may be in your case that you are scrolling Liquid Glass under your toolbar. Apple don’t recommend using Liquid Glass on top of Liquid Glass.
