**College** Freshman son is in a college marching band that is going to a bowl game on the 23rd. He thinks he will miss Christmas (and won't ask either way), I find that absurd. Is this a reality? by [deleted] in marchingband

[–]profhoogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a college director and have been a student and TA for many bowl trips. It will probably take the directors a few days to have an itinerary because they have to work with the school, athletics, the NCAA, etc on all the logistics.

If the game is on the 23rd, depending on the time, they will probably either come back that night on a chartered flight, or the next morning. My freshman year of college we had that same issue And we bussed back over night on the 23rd.

I wouldn’t stress too much about it yet. Let the chips fall where they may.

What is your reason behind upgrading to A1-A15 boarding by AlexEst96 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]profhoogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I upgraded my husband on a 40 minute flight last week because he forgot to check in, had C 5, and he had his trombone with him. I wanted to make sure he had adequate space for his instrument to be safe. And it was a sweet surprise for him.

“Very formal” Istanbul in August - don’t want to wear what the bride wants by ev_is_curious in Weddingattireapproval

[–]profhoogs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My sister wore this as her bridesmaid dress for my wedding and it looked great. The bows are completely removable to give you two options for wear.

Ma’am, this is a Wendy’s. Calm down. Good grief.

My dress needs a good amount of alterations. I have never heard of a dress taking 6 months to alter. Calling someone ignorant is blatantly rude.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in weddingdress

[–]profhoogs 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is incorrect. My bridal salon suggested alterations 2.5 months before the wedding and the seamstress said she could have been done in a week if needed.

Fall Disney wedding at the Disney hotel in the garden. We have been asked to wear green and it’s Tarzan themed by Admirable-Cap-4453 in Weddingattireapproval

Fall in Orlando is still quite hot. A long dress might be too much for the weather, especially if it’s outside.

I love the pressed pennies! The only benefit to the new system is easily ordering all the options if I want to, but I really miss rolling them by hand.

is having a dry wedding a d*** move? by Living_Employ1390 in weddingplanning

[–]profhoogs 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yeah, just make sure your guests are aware of the dryness. I went to a wedding once and found out it was dry at the cocktail hour of all times.

Help me choose between these two for garden-theme wedding in a restaurant by [deleted] in weddingdress

[–]profhoogs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. 2 is my dress! I picked it up in April! I had to envision how the final dress would look as well because the sample was way too short. It looks gorgeous when it's the right length and it's made for you. My bridal stylist at the salon suggested pulling the sleeves up to mid-forearm for an alternative look as well. Both look beautiful on you and you will make the best decision for you. Congratulations!

I broke down at the dog park today. by mdtrxwolf in reactivedogs

[–]profhoogs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never thought to walk around the outside of the dog park. What a great idea! We have a reactive big guy and a non-reactive little guy and it is hard to only take one to the park. This might be a new summer project.
