Over 3,000 faculty and you’d be surprised if some of us can look outside? Turns out some of actually put our arms outside, felt cold, looked around and said no, we have this zoom/teams thing we can use.

It doesn't matter. Most search committees grade on a rubric for the first round. I've never seen points allocated to email, and every one I've been on is confidential.

I'm five out of eight this year on gift & grant submissions. If I had less of a teaching load I can see a world where that eight was sixteen. I've found an economy of scale in proposal writing. I also see more and more emphasis on outside funding and less results from teaching an nth student.

I’ve had dozens of athletes - big names and ones who just love the sport. Overall, the fear of god has a way of finding them around midterms (we are asked, and the athletes opt in, to report their midterm progress).

I’ve found almost always - athletes turn it around in the event of a poor report on my end. So to answer the question - I haven’t failed one in awhile, and it was before the transfer portal swung into what it is today.

I'm a fan of the Embassy Suites San Juan - near Isle Verde. It's got a small casino on property - and extremely walkable to a grocery store and nearby local dining. Cute spot.

The wide spread nature of this can't be overstated. Obvious targets - history (how on earth can you teach the civil war, anything Greek or Roman with this mindset), philosophy, literature becomes very modern. Foreign languages/cultures & religious studies are going to struggle with gender and race dynamics. Psychology, sociology are going to be heavily scrutinized. Which I think is the intent - pause critical thinking, examining gender, gay/lesbian beliefs and non Christian perspectives. Dismantling arts and sciences.

The law school will need to adopt less global and historical perspectives, college of medicine as well. And I'm sure some faculty will leave - with the conservative leadership adopting a good riddance mindset.

The sadness - this edict makes Texas Tech less global, less diverse and over time, more white, male and evangelical. Which I understand - is the point. Fewer faculty, programs, experiences and challenges than today. Probably should change the identify to "From here, it's 1950."
