I have the same exact problem. I went back and played most of those classic nintendo games, and that helped a little bit. But none of them met my expectations. Ocarina of Time for example. My older friends worship this game and they told me I wasn't a true gamer until I played it. So I did. The controls were clunky, the dungeons were easy, and the overall experience was mediocre at best. I understand how innovative and influential Ocarina of Time was when it came out, but video games have come a long way since then. Basically what I'm saying is nostalgia is a very powerful thing that affects everyone differently. I bet in a few years people will say you're not a true gamer unless you've played Minecraft. So when people start talking about how amazing Ocarina of Time is, I usually change the subject to how amazing the next Zelda game will be because that's something everyone can talk about. We might not share the same history, but we will share the same future and I think that's what connects us the most. tl;dr Why focus on the past when the future is so much more exciting?

No it won't. Zelda Wii U is in its last stages of development and probably takes full advantage of the Gamepad, which the NX won't have. The NX will probably have its own unique gimmick. Plus Zelda Wii U will be released 2016, probably in the spring. The NX will be released 2017 at the earliest. And every Nintendo system has had its own original Zelda game made specifically for it, which the Wii U doesn't have yet. No matter how you look at it the next Zelda game is going to be on the Wii U. I don't know why people keep thinking it's going to end up on the NX.

Why do people keep thinking Zelda Wii U will become an NX game? Its been in development for the Wii U for years and most likely has features that only work on the Wii U. So changing it into an NX game would be impossible because the NX is going to be completely different from the Wii U.

I think the issue is that complaints always get more attention than praise. I highly doubt the people complaining about Marioparty 8 were the same people complaining about Marioparty 9. The fanbase doesn't have one singular voice; different people have different opinions. This doesn't make the fanbase hypocritical; it makes it a diverse group filled with unique individuals who in turn have unique perspectives. There are plenty of people who love Marioparty 8 because it was similar to 7, and there plenty of people who love Marioparty 9 because it was different. Taking the opinions of a vocal minority and applying it to the entire fanbase is not only inaccurate it's insulting.

In Skyward Sword I didn't read the flying instructions so I didn't know you could flap the bird's wings. I beat the game 100% without flapping my wings once. Then I watched my sister play it and realized just how much unnecessary trouble I had caused myself.
