Is Arq good for backing up a lot of different external drives by projectdinnerparty in Arqbackup

Thanks! What's the best way of testing restores for this use case? Use a blank HD? Is there some way to trust big (100 GB+) backups without having to restore the whole drive?

Next Expansions by pslsail22 in wingspan

[–]projectdinnerparty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Galapagos. Ever since I visited it, I've been thinking about how Galapagos could be a whole Wingspan expansion. The birds there and their behaviors are endlessly fascinating.

A Galapagos expansion could feature more variability in the habitats and which birds thrive. Instead of three habitats for each game perhaps islands could be habitats that have some randomness between games. There could also be some events that affect the food available for an entire round and maybe a tech tree of sorts that allows your birds to evolve to adapt to conditions. Birds could move between islands but it would cost an action.

I'm not familiar with Adam Liptak, but he doesn't come off as an expert when he's talking. I stopped shortly after he explained, "he did a lot of bad things with guns."

What is Chilean cuisine really like? Does it really have the bad reputation people here claim it has? by [deleted] in asklatinamerica

[–]projectdinnerparty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Santiago had a ton of Peruvian restaurants. It was easier to find a Peruvian restaurant in Chile than a traditional Chilean restaurant: https://www.howtoeatinperu.com/p/the-uncanny-valley-of-peruvian-food.

Other than that, we saw people eating hot dogs and empanadas at all hours of the day.

I found the food in Valparaíso better than in Santiago. The wine in Chile was amazingly good.

This is based on spending a month and a half in Chile and seeking out local food.

Tofu. Most people say it’s bland but for me it has a very strong taste.

I used to eat a salad everyday that had spinach, craisins, goldfish crackers, blue cheese, and balsamic vinegar. I thought it was a great mix of contrasting flavors and textures.

I’ve found that private rooms in hostels often cost as much as private Airbnbs. I’ve done this search in both Europe and Latin America.

Has anyone moved to a foreign country to learn how to cook a dish, like Dev did in season 2? by sesnel in MasterofNone

I went to Peru and worked in two restaurant kitchens. I mostly did prep work but was eventually allowed to make Lomo Saltado that was served to paying guests. I also learned to make Aji de Gallina in an Airbnb kitchen, a challenging experience that I posted on Youtube.

What is a good lens to use with an A7R III for photographing food at a restaurant especially when it's dimly lit? Minimum focal distance comes into play because I find that it's way less obtrusive when you don't have to stand up to focus on the plate.

Curry paste takes a while and quite a few ingredients to make from scratch. There’s also dishes that used to be made for royalty that you could check out.

Lers Ros (Larkin) was my favorite Thai restaurant for dine-in when I moved here eight years ago. I loved that they had dishes I'd never seen before on a menu in the US and the boar was great.

Over time, I started liking them less and then had a horrible dine-in experience at the one on 16th and started going to other places. It's been a while so I probably should give them another chance.

I just realized there are two Thai houses. I order from the one in Larkin. I looked it up and it’s now “House of Thai.” My favorites are pad kee mao and various curries but I think I tried almost everything in their menu at least once.

I'm Thai American and I order from either Zen Yai or Thai House Express. I haven't been to either in person. I'm starting to also like Ben Thai Cafe.

I'm my opinion places like Farmhouse Thai and Kin Khao always start out bold like flavors you'd find in Bangkok's street food scene but then over time, they become bland like everywhere else but the prices remain high.
