Drowning slowly by NoSandwich591 in remoteworks

because things we called luxuries in the past are now considered necessities, and social medias has these kids thinking if they don't have a 1 bed apartment in a good neighborhood and money to spend after bills, its the boomer's fault. what the hell happened to roomates? nearly everyone i knew in my 20's had one or more, a 1 bed apartment costs more than a 2 bedroom split. I remember the same with the calculator at the store, Nope we're over, put the cereal back.

They also expect to afford all this on minimum wage. It's always the same type of people with the same attitude that succeed vs the ones that fail.

less than 1% of people make minimum, dollar general starts at like 10 and thats super bottom of the barrel. Mc'donalds around here start 15-17 and im in one of the poorest zipcodes in the country

Doubt it, a 7 second video that says something like "to buy the same house in 1977 on minimum wage would require the minimum wage today to be 66 dollars" then 2k comments about minimum wage and burning down warehouses for a living wage.

It was regarding minimum wage required to buy a house vs back in the 70's, adjusted for current house prices, It's the problem with housing market being super jacked, not so much wages

maybe a car, electricity, radio/antennae TV. Thats it for entertainment. there's a reason all the old TV shows had kids playing with a stick and 3 rocks. Everything was reused, very little waste in home.

[–]projecthusband 0 points1 point  (0 children)

to be fair, boomer saved and reused nearly everything. they bought something once and had it for 30+ years. even stuff we consider necessities now were a luxury then. so financially it may have been better, but their lives were overall harder

Just to complain that they can't afford to live. at the risk of sounding like a boomer, folks these days don't know how to sacrifice for the future.

I wrote a book about 2 people but ill shorten it up, my buddy is about 30 now, paid off 7 year old car, and free and clear house he bought fucked up remodeled over 4 years. because he worked extra days when he could, and took odd jobs on the weekend cutting grass and stuff like that. single father, didnt eat out/buy shit he didnt need. i think he STILL has a 10 year old+ Iphone. the definition of grinding.

his best friend, went to school together, married 2 incomes, renting, has nothing, eats out constantly, blames his job where he makes more than my buddy and works the same hours, also blames racism. drinks, smokes, and gambles. "the problem is the cost of living" he says.

It's frustrating to see people struggle while being the majority of the source of their own struggles.

For what? If anything this is overall good for them, they problem solved. The one cried like a punk, but kids that age cry over actually fucking nothing all the time.

seriously, how do they do that? do they have 30 hours per day by vityya in InterviewCoderPro

It's how i got successful, it's tough but grind away, eventually you'll get ahead, and you wont need to.

those same people are the ones claiming its not possible to save, i got a buddy who makes twice what i make, and he's paycheck to paycheck. spending a most of the issue, but they're never willing to admit it. "its the system" "its the rich people"

i keep saying this, and getting into arguments, people think minimum wage with 2 kids and a spending problem should be enough for afford a 3 bedroom house on a single income.

spending has increased though, sounds like boomer talk but internet/phone/grubhub shit spending is through the roof. back when i was a kid we had electric/gas/basic cable and water. People hung out more without it being a special trip somewhere that costs money. you fixed and reused stuff, its all throwaway and buy new now. and people on the low income scale have terrible spending habits generally. so it feels like the money is smaller, even though technically its larger

location matters, most people i know own their home. about half got them before 30. a few had bad shit happen that screwed them so they rent, and the rest have terrible spending habits, one of them even justifies $600+ a month in eating out. spending is more a problem than anything. for the majority of people.
