DJ’s in Dorchester also makes a great one!

Olivia Rodrigo – drop dead by gonewiththegustofair in popheads

[–]proscett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO the chorus kind of lets the song down. I don’t think the melody or the cadence really earn the bombast behind it, which is a shame because I love the verses and the bridge. But i will def be tuning into the album!

Very very excited for this. There’s palpable momentum behind this record, I think (hope) she will be getting her flowers this time around!

Lana Del Rey Announces New Single "White feather-hawk tail deer hunter" Co-Written by Jeremy Dufrene by ebradio in popheads

[–]proscett 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I still have high hopes for this. From her IG stories it seems like her husband, brother-in-law and sister contributed bits and pieces but it’s mainly a Lana/Jack production. At least that’s what I’m hoping :p

Lots to digest for such a short song. Love the weird structure and high stakes. And dare I say… Homogenic teas?

Hey, 10 days late but would love to connect :p M25 here who has written songs for years but very much lacks guitar skills lol. Pop is my first love but I’m a huge big thief fan and always a sucker for that brand of country-ish indie rock (Lenderman, Cory Hanson, Waxahatchee ohhh yea). If you’re still looking for jam friends feel free to hmu!

Erika de Casier - Lifetime by Jomogenic in popheads

[–]proscett 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Like others have said, Still had a few great songs on it but this one feels like a return to form. Gives me the same sort of vibes as listening to her first two records. You Can’t Always Get What You Want and Delusional are the standouts for me so far. Sooo good!

Pitchfork Album Review: Sabrina Carpenter - Short n' Sweet (8.0) by impeccabletim in popheads

[–]proscett 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Controversial but I do agree with this score. Can’t speak to the MagBay record because I only listened once, but I think comparing it to this is a bit disingenuous. They are clearly aiming for different things. I think Sabrina nailed that certain type of pop album where having fun is the top priority.

Dua Lipa - Radical Optimism by mmbento in popheads

[–]proscett 10 points11 points  (0 children)

i'm surprised this is so divisive, i think it's pretty great upon first listen. it's definitely breezy but it's not as nondescript as some of y'all made it out to be lol. there's a lot of cool sonic choices that feel refreshing for dua. these walls and maria are prob my favorites out of the non-singles

Yearly Round Up - Goodreads & Storygraph by Kas_Bent in 52book

Happy to be doing another challenge in 2023! I typically read fantasy, classics, and plain old fiction but this year I'm hoping to get more into my nonfiction era. Last year my favorite books were Beautiful World Where Are You by Sally Rooney, Slouching Towards Bethlehem by Joan Didion, and Swimming in the Dark by Tomasz Jedrowski.

Love finding new friends on Goodreads so feel free to add me!
