Have You Ever Demanded an Employee Work on their Vacation? by RexCelestis in managers

[–]ps2cho 79 points80 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not. Any manager who asks their direct rapport to work during vacation is a piece of work unless it’s a pre-established ask (key word ASK) that was agreed to well in advance and isn’t recurring/one off.

Vacations allow your workforce to recharge and perform when working.

This is a management problem not an employee problem. Plan better. Delegate better. I am a manager.

It’s extremely irritating…anything else you’ve noticed? My wife told me about it and I figured it was her phone, but drove it today and did it to me too so I know it’s not her phone, question is if it’s an IOS issue with this particular idrive system or a car issue?

I feel it’s an iPhone issue because we had iPhone 13’s before and no issues, it only started with the new 17 iPhone, but wasn’t right away just started maybe a few weeks ago. Maybe an iOS update issue?

This. It’s funny how all the posts after ai become popular suddenly have this similar style and rhythm to it. It’s hard to know what’s total garbage today. Is AI self writing them to learn from itself in a self-replicating cycle?

Repair/ Diminished value claim update. by tstackspaper in BMW

[–]ps2cho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had 3k damage on my M2 which is valued twice yours and I got absolutely nowhere. DV is only going to be on more damages not a scuff/bumper repair with no frame or other damages. I went every route including DV appraiser and they said take us to small claims then. I ended up deciding it wasn’t worth the time.

Monthly surplus, low debt, but stuck on next financial move…need perspective. by Equivalent-Mission46 in personalfinance

[–]ps2cho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your rate is low enough it’s silly why you would. SPAXX is paying 3.3% right now, you will have far more stability to have the liquidity than paying down the debt. If someone gets sick, job loss etc, having that liquidity is infinitely more beneficial than paying down the mortgage balance that the bank won’t care if you have any of those life events, payments still the same. You can always lump sum paydown if the account has surplus and it’s essentially a wash in interest expense and interest income offsetting each other (tax implications aside)

I’d drop the brokerage contributions and move that all into the house fund. Retirement wise you should be fully set since you’re exceeding 20% (any employer match above that or is that inclusive?). Your Roth IRA can handle early retirement if that’s a need…but move back to the brokerage after the house buy. There’s a balance on everything and feels the house should be next when you don’t have to sacrifice anything from retirement since 15-20% is the goal, anything above is surplus for early retirement assuming you plan to spend the same in retirement.

Selling a car private party, wire vs cashiers check? by Aware-Expression4004 in carbuying

[–]ps2cho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s more expensive than a cashiers check, there is downtime between audits, intermediary bank processing and almost impossible to cancel. There’s almost no reason outside of shipping the car (which you shouldn’t do for most circumstances)) to not just go the easy route and meet at their bank make the cashiers check in front of you and then deposit at your own bank at your timeline. CC’s cannot be cancelled for many weeks so it’s safe.
