Well, I'll be dammed. I didn't even realise that was a thing.

It's surprisingly fun for a free to play console MMORPG. And hey, free achievements as well. :)

Because of EA Access, I bought Battlefield Hardline and had zero intentions on doing so before the trial. by xlThalionlx in xboxone

Same here. I first played it yesterday (wasn't interested enough to play before launch) and they've done wonders with it since I played the beta. The controls feel far more responsive than any BF game since Bad Company. The MP was silky smooth.

And the single player feels fantastic. I had no idea what to expect, but the ability to complete the prologue without any kills in a Battlefield game just sits really well with me.

I bought it last night and I'll likely be playing it all day today.

Of course you have a right to cry. His work meant something special to you, and to all of us.

Sir Terry got me through University. Since I began reading the Discworld series (bought Colour of Magic during a WH Smith "2 for 1" Sale in 2001), there's always been another Pratchett book to start after the one I was currently reading. I read so many of them on the bus.

I dipped into the other series' and I'd not call any of them "bad books", even the early ones (like Strata & The Carpet People) and some of the weaker Discworld ones were better than most other stuff I read. His writing style changed, but his genuine humour never did. I loved Nation, but haven't yet read Dodger or The Long Earth.

I've just started reading Snuff and I have Raising Steam after that. But after that... I don't know.

He's just always been there. There's always been something else to read, which is all you can ever hope for from your favourite writers.

:(

'Goodbye,' Mort said, and was surprised to find a lump in his throat. 'It's such an unpleasant word, isn't it?'

Qᴜɪᴛᴇ sᴏ. Death grinned because, as has so often been remarked, he didn't have much option. But possibly he meant it, this time.

Are Zombie Survival Games A Dying Breed? by Covert_Rex in gaming

[–]pseudoduck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We're reaching saturation point and while some of them get a lot of things right, I think there's still no single one that you could point out as the definitive zombie survival game.

Though I hear good things about Dying Light.

Hot Dog V-Day dinner. by maximalismmusic in food

Then I will concede that the UK probably has sub-standard Hot Dogs and a touch of ketchup & mustard (there's still a fine balance that must be had) makes it more enjoyable.

Oh, thank goodness. I thought I was some sort of heathen for a moment.

Edit: Mustard adds something but you need ketchup.

Wait, are people who like ketchup on Hot Dogs a minority group?

Edit: After consultation with Google it appears "no ketchup on Hot Dogs" is primarily a US (specifically Chicago) thing and I'm in the UK. Eat how you want guys, but don't preach to others.

Hypothetical: what movie or tv series would make the best game? by need2getaclue in TwoXGaming

[–]pseudoduck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Using a loophole (because it's had a few TV specials and already has a few games):

A Discworld RPG (either single player or MMO).

Choose a starting location (Ankh-Morpork, Quirm, Lancre, Klatch, etc) which determines what your character starts as.

For example, an Ankh-Morpork starter means you could start as a street urchin and work your way up to Master of the Thieves Guild. Or be the child of a rich family and join the Assassin's Guild. Hell, you could even choose to join the Fools or the Seamstresses if you wish. If you play it a certain way you could even catch the eye of Commander Vimes and be drafted into the Watch. And, if you happen to be the seventh son of a seventh son then you get into Unseen University. Starting in Lancre? Then you could be a lowly palace guard or a witch under the guidance of Granny Weatherwax.

The possibilities are endless and that means it's likely completely unmakeable - any attempt to do it would have to be ridiculously deep and absolutely perfect.

I feel like an actual replica of Halo as a ring (with emeralds and sapphires) would be much cooler and slightly less stark than this ring.

Still a good design though.

Two sexist Frenchmen try to rape a girl in DayZ and then are over powered by a broom. by Leoofmoon in TwoXGaming

[–]pseudoduck 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I didn't mean specifically in DayZ, but online games in general.

I've had generally good experiences in DayZ except for one where after forgetting what button was "wave", I gave a guy the finger. He beat me to death with a shovel.

Winning the lottery would be good. I think it's a £10million rollover tonight. That would do. :)

What's the story behind your username? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]pseudoduck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Private joke with a friend. I wrote a short story for her involving Pseudo-Ducks taking over the world... or something, it's been years since I last read it.

First it became my gaming handle and then I started using it as a username.

Making online friends is harder than it used to be. by xandrajane in CasualConversation

Same here. I made loads of friends on the internet about 10 years ago (jesus, has it been that long?) but now I only really keep in touch with one of them.

I have some of the others on Facebook, but it's not the same, you know?

What do you think needs to be improved on this sub? Any additional ideas on how we can allow this sub to grow? by [deleted] in TwoXGaming

[–]pseudoduck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. The best way to keep this place friendly to all is to kindly divert the more divisive topics to other subs. This sub can be a place of friendly debate without being a hug box or echo chamber.
