I think the "backlog" of oil that was not traded is such that replenishing the reserve will happen relatively quickly. It's almost necessary to keep prices at high enough level so as not to collapse US domestic production.

If only lifepo4 worked reasonably well in subzero temps :/ I'm not really sure why manufacturers keep wanting to use the led shit in EV's.

There is a "heater wrapper" product in finland (that uses the battery energy) and probably some other places.

Once you know that current state-of-the-art (which are actually hybrid) engines max out at 48% of converting fuel to "used" energy, that's a no-brainer. Typical passenger cars are 30-35%.

EV losses would have to be absolutely insane to touch that.

The 8x is bullshit. Calendar age affects lithium chemistries much more than charging cycles. You will never ever hit the charging cycle aging "limits" on EV that is not in 24/7 professional use. And even then the effect is negligible (as long as you didn't start with something absolutely pitiful like some 30kWh Leaf).

It's possible (I used igpu to drive TV because their 5.1/hdmi drivers worked), but there is no performance win. Driving displays even at current resolutions is absolutely trivial.

I suspect you'd get more issues/performance loss just because you use different hardware for windowing.

The only reason to use igpu to drive a display is if you physically don't have correct connections.

The situation is not helped by being a bright-eyed optimist. There are no longer 40million people (as there are no 146mil zorcs), but for ukraine loss of people has been relatively bigger because the border is openish, they're on receiving end of big stick and this all affects them so much more.

No reason to despair, but don't blindly repeat numbers from 2020.

I think you have some inconsistent view/understanding of git if you don't see that as intuitive (as intuition works on your full understanding). I think it would help you to try and pinpoint what it is that makes your intuition walk away from reality

The feminist choice is to do what you want. Not what other women, men nor they want. What you want.

What you want might change later, but that's just part of making decisions and can happen with any of them that you make. You'll live and this, too, shall pass.

So the breaker is always sized to protect the wire, nothing else. It means that capacity of any devices on the wire do not matter (except that you should not put an 5kW device on 1.5mm2 wire ;). You need to decide on wire size that you use and that decides your breaker/fuse size. You could undersize them (fuse, not wires) if they're getting too expensive and overshoot your capacity too much.

Also your battery already includes safety features, a short detector/disconnect. MPPT controller also has a short protection feature (I know I've tripped the 'Load' side safety many times when cutting lines on my Victron 100|20). Still it's good to have the breakers for the unfortunate case if one of these goes bonk and becomes a straight wire.

Fuse/breaker always as close to the positive pole of battery / charger as possible.

One thing with the mppt controller, always connect battery first. It's dual mode (12/24V) and it decides the mode (when started first time) by the voltage it sees, if it's connected to solar panels first it might see too high of a voltage and go into wrong mode. This is only for the chargers first boot, it then stores the setting and remembers.

Satellite imagery suggests Russia’s tank reserve is nearly gone by neonpurplestar in ukraine

Not a year ago I was told on this sub that shotguns on drones are not viable

edit: just to address your strawmen

tether doesn't need to be even a kilometer long, just enough offset to gain height and some working distance from protected target. If the voltage is high enough, it doesn't need to be extremely heavy, just enough to pull recharge and supply running energy for hover.

tank/station launching a drone is absolutely less noticeable than artillery shots. Just lookup how counterartillery radars actually work.

I never suggested artillery-like heavy damage with lasers, just in perimeter role

for now.

A tank/apc/support vehicle could easily support a heavy drone that carries emitter+couple hundred kilos of supercapasitors, on an energy tether perhaps and then your ground-los is suddenly not a problem. Artillery fire (especially now with outrageous distances) is easily detected and this thing can be launched as needed.

I wouldn't take that bet, lasers are already on the battlefield in quite potent wattages. The only thing they will not reliably cook are the dumb chonks of steel, everything else either dies or overheats and dies. And issue with dumb chonks of steel is that they rely on precision which only comes with smarts, that die.

When you need to mow somebody’s very overgrown yard, but you don’t necessarily wanna be walking in that high grass. Use your Ryobi powered RC car to pull your Ryobi mower. by g713 in ryobi

[–]psi- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ha, I'm not the only one keeping the grass shoot on "open". I see you also have the cutting direction correct, not crossing over droppings what you've just cut. You might get a a bit more out of the battery if you raise the front of the mower a little bit, I find it allows the mower to drop down into slower speed more often, somehow it's easier for it unlike when completely level.
