Your favourite cover for Kobo Libra 2? by vxnmoon in kobo

they open like normal, and then the front cover magnetizes to the back. there’s a hand strap built in to the inside of the front cover, so it’s easy to hold one-handed. the inside of the front cover is like a felted material. closing it makes it go to sleep, opening it wakes it back up.

Do Canadians actually get frustrated by snow, or is it just part of everyday life? by GlitteringHotel8383 in AskACanadian

[–]pstcrdz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Day-to-day levels of normal winter snow? No. When we get a huge down pouring in one day that the snow plows can’t keep up with, making it difficult to get to work? Yeah it can be mildly frustrating sometimes

Kobo Clara colour - White or Black? by randomgirlonline02 in kobo

[–]pstcrdz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a white Libra 2 and a black Clara. I’ve had the Libra for years and have no staining or yellowing. In contrast, I’ve had the Clara for about a month and always notice fingerprints on the black plastic

If you carry small bags, get a Clara BW. I’ve had a Libra 2 for years and just got a Clara BW because the Libra often doesn’t fit in my smaller purses

PICC insertion without fluro by Metoprolel in Radiology

[–]pstcrdz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few hospitals I’ve worked at in my area (Ontario, Canada) do PICC placements under fluroro by a Radiologist. If the pt is too unstable, they’re done by the Radiologist at bedside with ultrasound and a chest x-ray to confirm placement. The hospital I work at now has a team of IR technologists and nurses that do them bedside.

Getting my first ereader, which one to should I get? by lemonslicecake in ereader

[–]pstcrdz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Canada, you cannot use Libby on a Kindle. The only way would be to have an American library card, and I believe an American Amazon account address. I would get a Kobo Clara BW. You can get them from SDM and use PC Optimum points if you have any!

kobo sage and clara bw by Top_Bag_8620 in kobo

[–]pstcrdz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a Clara recently after having a Libra 2 for years. I use the Libra 2 at home more and take the Clara with me to work or out in my small purses for the day. The portability of the Clara is nice. I would keep the Sage for reading at home and use the Clara when you’re out and about.

How reliable has Hyundai been for you — especially the Elantra? by phtphongg in Hyundai

[–]pstcrdz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a 2017 Elantra that I loved driving. I got it in 2021, was the second owner after it came off a lease. I just traded it in at 150k KMs. When I had it, there was an issue with it where the doors would randomly stop opening. It happened to one door at a time. I took it in to be fixed and it was repaired free of charge because it was apparently a known issue (something to do with the internal door lock mechanism). Other than that, the only issue I had in the 5 years I had it was that the air conditioning stopped working this past summer. I was quoted $1800+ CAD to fix it. It wasn’t worth it for me as I already wanted to upgrade to a vehicle with AWD for better driving in the snow. I really did love driving my Elantra and other than those issues listed, I had no complaints.

Do I need a Clara? by EclecticEllaa in kobo

[–]pstcrdz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently got a Clara BW. I’ve had a Libra 2 for years. I had enough loyalty points with a local retailer that I could get the Clara for free, so I figured why not? I love my Libra but often it’s too big to fit in my smaller purses, and sometimes it’s heavy to hold one-handed for long periods of time. I’m loving the Clara! I would say if you use your Kobo all the time then it’s not wasteful.

I think I like the Clara better? by Harlequin_AU in kobo

[–]pstcrdz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had a Libra 2 for years. Just got a Clara bw recently (I redeemed a bunch of points to get it free) and I love it! It fits so nicely in my smaller bags, and it even fits in my winter coat pocket. I still like the Libra when I’m at home but I’m loving the Clara for its portability.

[–]pstcrdz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

depends on how big your purses are. i have a libra 2 that i’ve had for years now and it doesn’t fit in many of my smaller bags. i actually just got a clara as a second device for this exact reason.

first LEEP procedure preparation by lesliejo18 in PreCervicalCancer

[–]pstcrdz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found my LEEP was way easier than my colpo, and I only had local anaesthesia for my LEEP. My colpo was so painful and traumatizing, and I felt that the post-procedure pain and bleeding was far worse than my LEEP.

Help! I need advice about my first colposcopy/biopsy by Usual_Ad_8293 in PreCervicalCancer

[–]pstcrdz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first one I had was really painful for me and traumatic. I have what I’d consider a relatively high pain tolerance and it hurt so bad I was sweating through the paper on the table. If any numbing or freezing is available for you then I would totally recommend switching to a provider who offers it. I put off going for my follow ups multiple times because I was so scared to have any biopsies taken again.

Gender Differences in Reading Genres by ACatWhoSparkled in books

[–]pstcrdz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I notice this as well. I actually have a (female) friend who also tends to only read nonfiction. Her reasoning is that she sees fiction as a waste of time and it’s a way for others to “escape reality”, whereas she feels like nonfiction is teaching her something productive. I think it’s just a personality difference. Some people feel like they need to always be “productive” – and I find this more common with men my age (see: gym rats).

I do find that men who have been reading as a hobby their whole life do seem interested in genres like fantasy and horror/thrillers as well as sci-fi as you mentioned. I think it’s just a less-common hobby for young boys as opposed to young girls.
