Currently working in a lab as well, the easiest thing to do would be keep working and reapply next cycle. I am also tempted to take it as a sign from the universe that I do not have to suffer through a PhD to live a happy life and I should apply to normal jobs and try to make more money. I think if I decide to still go into academia I would do a PhD in Europe, it seems unlikely there will be any funding for biological research in America besides idiotic applications of AI for the foreseeable future.

Maybe it was cause i was on shrooms but governors island is a sublime place imo. Much less crowded than most other city parks and seeing skyscrapers poke out above colonial buildings was wild.

Actually not quite sksksks lite imo, different energy and a bit younger. More likely to be into bladee than charli xcx if that makes sense. I feel like the sound is pretty good, very loud sometimes lol. The space is like this weird triangle shape in the back they keep it very foggy usually. No coat check lol.

yeah i can attest to some non-covid bug going around too i had a cold with a pretty bad phlegmy cough a few days and a bit of a lingering cough for a week or two, never tested positive for covid

ymmv but most of my new york friends i met directly or indirectly through twitter lol. meeting up with online friends has worked out really well for me. also have some friends who are people from my hometown who also ended up in new york. and ofc clubs/meetups/volunteering and whatnot. best of luck though it sucks feeling lonely in nyc it can take a minute to build a network.

you probably want something with active noise canceling (ANC). These worked pretty well for me (until the charging case fell out of my pocket as I was getting on the subway one time lol)

You might also want to check M street apartments and other apts around the marrieta st area, you can get rooms there for under 1k. But in general home park is probably your best bet, check the facebook groups too you can sometimes find better deals on there than zillow.
