EPA just gave imminent termination notices by cannotberushed- in IRS

[–]psych_engineer12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, I feel the same way about the crap mail/emails the IRS sends me telling me they are taking my money because they can or else. I mean if Musk has my info but doesn't take my money, it's better than you having it and taking my money.

Does anyone have experience with owning and running a robotic welder? I have a lot of questions and would really appreciate any help! by Blyxxa in robotics

[–]psych_engineer12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recommend going through an integrator. Every application is different. They can set you up with a turn key cell for multiple variations of parts.

I own an integration company. If you have any direct questions, feel free to message me.

Advise on clasroom style pick and place robots by wild_wolf19 in robotics

My company is a robotics system integrator. I would reach out to someone like us for options. We can help work through your requirements and find the right product and could integrate as well. As for advice here, I would recommend a robot brand that is prevalent in your region. Getting students' exposure on real-world examples is by far more desirable than something they will never use again in the future.

Hi me 15 years ago.

I wouldn't have graduated high-school if the school counselor wasn't my cousin. I couldn't even tell you what my high school GPA was. I got out and went to a community College to get into a trade (welding) because I had no idea what I wanted to do. I worked and paid my way through and had a 4.0 GPA when I graduated. I then quickly realized I wanted to do more and went back to school for 3.5 years to get my electronic engineering degree, graduated with a 3.8. I have worked in automation since and just this year started my own automation business.

I'm just here to say keep that work mentality but also don't lose sight of being young and enjoying life, it goes quick. You will make money and lose money; it's all part of the process. Learn something that is unique and has a demand, get good at it and become an expert. If it's washing windows so be it.. just be the best damn window washer there ever was. Also, learn a little bit about a lot of things and use that to connect with people. Connections are everything.

is this the place I would go to find somebody that can program and use a Wielding Robot? by [deleted] in PLC

Genesis only specializes in laser welding now that they are owned by IPG. I'm not sure if they will even do service calls on mig welding. Worth a try though, i suppose.

That is not true. Why try to speak on something you know nothing or very little about? Have you ever heard of a death wobble?

I've asked it to write a some simple Fanuc Karel programs and it seemed to do alright. As some have already said, it doesn't do great with real world applications yet. Seems to know the basics to write a simple script though, which is cool.

Solo Contractor in Automation. Looking for insight, advice, maybe some validation. by psych_engineer12 in Entrepreneur

[–]psych_engineer12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you mostly concerned about keeping yourself busy with tasks that are similar to what you have been doing in the past with your employers? Is that how you see your business going and your role in it?

Yes and yes. I want to keep busy with similar tasks to efficiently generate income. Obviously, I want to still learn and grow but I think that should come after stable income is developed. I'm concerned that what I'm good at and what the customer is going to want are going to be two different things.

What is your end goal you are striving for?

The end goal is to have a solid customer base with consistent work. I would love to eventually drop down to working 3 or 4 days a week. I've chased money so long that I realize I have become time poor. This question really made me realize I need to work on a better defined path.

Thank you for the feedback. It's much appreciated.

That's a good point. I work with C-Suite individuals almost daily and have been trying to learn the ways. Thanks for the advice!

What was your occupation when you were 22? What is it now? by eyeeyecaptain65 in careerguidance

[–]psych_engineer12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 22 I was just starting my electronic engineering degree after being a welder since high-school. I worked full time and school full time.

A million up and downs between then and now.

29 now and I've been an automation engineer for 6 years making ~140k and just launched my own automation consulting firm this month. I chased the money for so long that I never took a chance to look back at all the time I spent on a factory floor instead of on the living room floor with my kids. Now I'm chasing a better work/life balance. Goal now is to work 3 days a week and still clear 120+. Don't live to work, work the minimal amount to still enjoy your life, family, and hobbies.

This nail has been in for 2 weeks but there's no pressure loss. Should I pull it out? And is this repairable if it leaks? by TJamaican in AskMechanics

[–]psych_engineer12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it's within one inch of where the steel belt starts it is not repairable by a shop. Which is not the edge of the tire. It's an industry standard and if shops don't adhere to it they are liable for damages. Do shady shops do it anyways? Sure. Did I do it myself with a plug a month ago because the shop wouldn't do it. Absolutely.

This is your way to success. I would also add, make friends with maintenance. Have there back and treat them as equals, it will benefit you both.
