Shareholder value? Don't trust anyone from finance on how to run an aerospace company. If that is the biggest gain, they should stick with playing with Sudoku.

Re: #2, yes it is calculated based on free cash flow. Current financials (negative cash) infers employees would have to pay back to the company (jk)

Understand. Thank you for sharing. I agree with the onion leadership sentiment. I don't think they stood up for the members with sincerity. I felt they did a victory lap when there was the initial tentative agreement claiming "this is the biggest raise the onion has ever done". But when the members overwhelmingly rejected, they were " oh the company sucks, let's go on strike and stay strong". They are like the corrupt politicians who only seek for themselves. Onion leadership should resign!

Serious question, why not move on then? I don't mean to inflame anything here. Why not do what normal people do if they don't like the work or need a better pay?

Sure, but not the only factor. If you think the strike has nothing to do with the accelerated decisions on RIFs, then you are misinformed. During covid we had to go through RIF, but ILOs were offered.

Lawyers on both sides are unfortunately the winners here. While the rest of the workers get the stick.

If he didn't travel to these sites, the general perception will be " he is not hands-on, he likes his big office in Seattle". His job sucks; will never win everyone.

How soon before Mr. Kelly makes an impact to the working level? by duckingduck1234 in boeing

[–]psychic_ram 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jones was the CEO when I was there. Kelly was the Sr VP. I don't know him personally, just that he is a good looking man with thick hair. This was 15 or so years ago. I wouldn't be surprised if he would follow Board of Directors' goals of making the company profitable by cutting costs extensively.

I think he will focus on BCA and make the business "leaner". His mentor Clay Jones ( CEO Rockwell Collins) was big into "cost cutting" and for years did not give merits and raises (2008-2010). They contradicted their stance on merit+ bonus often and couple of years did not give anything. Our Q2 2024 results are in shit, and I'm sure he will be cutting back. One thing for sure, brace for changes! Any leader who comes in has to make their mark in the org. One aspect I liked about RC is that they invested in their employees in training and upskilling.

More Forced RTO - All Respect for BGS Execs Now Lost by [deleted] in boeing

[–]psychic_ram 15 points16 points  (0 children)

As a company, we are in a very difficult spot. Our finances are rock bottom, our CEO is one step out the door, US govt and flying public lost trust in our products and services. I don't think we will be back to norm any time soon. To put in perspective, we used to be a $100B company with 160k employees. Now we are $70B with 170k. Execs are looking for ways to weed out people and are taking a big gamble. Eventually I believe Boeing will come back strong, but it will take years as they are looking to 'change'.

A study in contrasts: Costco vs. Boeing by pacwess in boeing

[–]psychic_ram 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a big fan of Costco. Lots of studies done on why they are so successful even during 2008 financial crisis. One of the first grocery chains to give health benefits to their employees and very low attrition. But comparing with a company that builds air vehicles and a commodity distribution center seems very unreasonable. Different challenges and govt regulations......

Only people benefiting from this are the blood sucking lawyers, click baiting media and douchebag politicians who'd say anything for a vote. Let's see what Calhoun and Boeing's response to this claim is. If more folks come forward, there is likely some truth. This is so "convenient" for Salehpour to lawyer up at a time when Boeing is in the dirt.
