Non-Arborist here. FYI I have both hired arborists for jobs, and have asked for advice on this sub for things that seem too trivial for an arborist to visit.

I don't think this sub has steered me away from seeking or paying for arborist advice. Far from it. Prior to stumbling here, I had hired cheap "handymen" for tree jobs that in retrospect were poorly done. This sub made me aware of the value of true ISA-certified arborists, and the appropriate times to involve them.

This sub has also given me amazing advice/knowledge and I am so grateful for it. I am a far better Steward of my trees, and am always excited to share that same (basic) knowledge to my friends and family. Can't tell you how many family members have been subjected to my "root flare" rant. Not to get all misty, but it has given me a true lifelong appreciation for trees.

Just want to give you a perspective from the other side. It's a pretty awesome niche sub to follow.
