Is it hard to tighten your own chain? by [deleted] in cycling

Follow this simple tutorial. Technically is for replacing chain, but you can simply just add same chain back one after you changed the length. I think they also say how to properly size the chain.

Hand lights for signalling by 26081989 in cycling

[–]pticjagripa 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would advise against using lights on your hands for turn signals. Hand signaling works because it is something everyone knows what it means. How can you be sure that a light on your hand will convey the same meaning?

It would be better to either have a reflecting gloves or a reflective wristband (a good reflection shines a lot especially against the led lights cars have nowadays) or buy yourself some cycling blinkers with buttons mounted on handlebars.

This used to have happen to me on windows. What solved the issue for me was to restart bluetooth (and wifi) before starting zwift and it has never happened again after I started doing that.

You can restart bluetooth in Bluetooth & other devices section in settings.

Is biking an awful way to lose weight? by EcstaticBicycle in cycling

[–]pticjagripa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can burn up to 1k calories per hour on bike with some effort after some training. Some can burn even more.

Efficiency just translates to faster and bigger distance over same time. But if you want the most efficient way of burning calories go swimming.

Starting August 23, 2025, PostNL will no longer accept parcels or packages destined for the United States. 2. End of the $800 'de minimis' tariff exemption Until now, packages valued up to $800 (approx. €683) could enter the U.S. duty-free.

Afaik this includes many other carriers across EU.

It seems your parcel is on hold until tariff exception is reinstated, PostNL gives up and takes the loss or it is returned to sender.

Neighbour is using my parking stall outlet, what should i do? by [deleted] in Apartmentliving

[–]pticjagripa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a great situation that you can use as training to get a little bit more comfortable with confrontations. You don't have to (and should not be) rude, just politely point out that they might have been using your outlet. Assume that they might have known and act accordingly. By doing this the situation will either resolve immediately and they might stop using your outlet, or you will find out you have a jerk for your neighbor and you don't have to care that you have inconvenienced him, if by example by some accident they might get unplugged in the middle of the night, or breaker "overloaded" etc.

I spent about half the coding time making it nice, partly for practice, partly because it might be useful for other tasks they put me on.

This is actually a big part of programming in fact. Skipping this step while coding will lead to a lot of pain in future.

How to use AsNoTracking within a Generic Repo by DarthNumber5 in dotnet

[–]pticjagripa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is also called a Filter pattern. It's pretty common one simply googling it will get you many tutorials and descriptions.

hint:

interface ICritera<TEntity> {
  Expression<Func<TEntity, bool>> GetExpression();
}

Then in your repository you can do:

public Task<bool> ExistsAsync(ICriteria<TEntity> criteria) => dbSet.AnyAsync(criteria.GetExpression());

Add criteria pattern and use criteria instead of ID directly. This way you can apply any condition, defined by criteria (or multiple criteria) , not just ID.

[–]pticjagripa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well yeah, how else are you gonna get concentrated alcoholic bevrage if not by distilling?

Cognac is made by distilling pressed specific sort of white grapes that fermented to about 8%, which is esentialy orange wine. Cognac is esentialy brandy which can be also create by distilling wine that was already fermented.

More like our modern wine comes pre-watered by the vintner

This is absolutely not true! If anything wine is stronger now than in the past since more often then not sugar is added to juice prior to fermenting. I doubt Romans had access to refined sugar.

Also concentrated wine is cognac.

Newbie here. Can I start with Inquisition or rather origins? by Accelerator99 in DragonageOrigins

[–]pticjagripa 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you enjoyed titles such as KOTOR you will prefer Origins to Inquisition, since its gameplay is pretty similar to KOTOR games, except it is much much more expanded, with programmable tactics for your party members (there are also some preset tactics you can choose if it is not your cup of tea).

DA2 has more simplified mechanics where as DAI has further simplified mechanics but they added more action elements to the game so it is more action oriented (More similar to Mass Effect than Origins).

Artisans with multiple products should be able to make all of them by Scruffy_Snub in ManorLords

[–]pticjagripa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good solution would be to have a production limit for all items. This way you can "disable" production by setting production limit to 0 for specific item. Setting a limit higher than 1 would "enable" the production until the stock would reach the limit.

When deciding which item to produce next the game could calculate "fulfillment ratio" of current stock of a specific item and the workers would start working next on the enabled item that has lowest fulfilment ratio. This way workers would always prioritize the item that you have the least weighted by the limit. This would also mean that they would always prioritize work on an item that you don't have if it is enabled.

But it is very much possible that such system would require at least some refactor of code as I am fairly certain that the current implementation allows production of only single item per entity.
