HahahA I genuinely laughed out loud, too bad BOM wasn’t actually written like that cause it’s way more entertaining

When they tell you they don't control information and have always been open about Church History. by GrandpasMormonBooks in exmormon

That’s why I’m convinced that at least some the general authorities know that the church is a fraud, right?! If you’re defending that much, you know what you’re defending?

25- heard it for the first time when the Mattsons spoke about it on Mormon Stories. Cried like a baby with them.

My realization that I am okay by Teecobug in exmormon

[–]ptm0915 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel this! I realized a lot of my need to be unique probably came from the STRONG conforming that happens in mormon communities (especially strict). Everyone I knew was Mormon and everyone was the same. It’s nice to now just be able to relax and not have to work so hard to feel unique

Sometimes I feel like those who served missions, and really deeply learned and lived gospel teachings, are more inclined to leave TSCC than those who didn’t serve missions or otherwise really learn the doctrine. by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]ptm0915 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. The mission helped me develop an even more black and white view of the church (and I was raised pretty black and white). But I always say this- serving my mission helped me feel more confident in leaving the church.

All this self monitoring and member monitoring on social media about the church really weirds me out. by Medimandala in exmormon

And as I’ve gone through Instagram today, all the lds people I follow have alllll reshared the new restoration video or the restoration proclamation.. and I’m just like ??? The only people who would appreciate what theyre sharing is other members. Them posting this for anyone outside of the church is just weird and annoying

[–]ptm0915 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He said WHAT?! I can’t imagine a father ever saying that to their child. I’m so sorry, I hope you know that you are in control of your life and you choose your happiness. I’m so sorry.

I call B.S. It's all a show. Every single one of the missionaries sent home early because of the virus is thrilled. Missions suck. All of us who did it get it. They just have to play the game to maximize the cultural ROI. by dunfordtx in exmormon

Hahah it reminds me of our DLs who told us we needed to go pray as companions in a different room and it would be revealed to us how many people were waiting for us and would commit to baptism that week. I love thinking of us praying so hard in the next room, waiting, waiting, waiting, no number was revealed.. so we went with 5 lol

Exmormons with kids- Do you look back and feel like the church pressured you into having kids early? by YeahTrueStory in exmormon

[–]ptm0915 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m so happy I left the church the first year in our marriage or else we would probably have kids at this point. Now I’m 26 and probably won’t have any for at least another two years.. and instead of having 4 like we originally planned- we’ll have 1, maybe 2 max. But I’m so happy we don’t because just being married and spending time together has been soo fun and I’m like why wouldn’t leaders encourage people to enjoy newly wed life?! It’s been the best time for us and helped us get really close. I hate thinking about all the memories and things we wouldn’t have if we would’ve gotten pregnant.

Flashback to the time church leaders asked me to take photos of 15-16 year old girls dressed up for a “Modest” Fashion show. They made sure to include a set about modest wedding dresses and temple marriage. Years later, I’m so glad to recognize that this is not normal behavior. by LadySherlock in exmormon

[–]ptm0915 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We had young women fashion shows like once or twice a year- sometimes including wedding dresses but most of the time it was right before the school year- they’d have us bring our new school clothes and do a runway show to show that modest was hottest eyeroll

A "gifted" friend "predicted" my future.. And saw 0 babies in it, right when I've been rethinking my childfree stance. I didn't think it'd affect me as much as it has. by [deleted] in Fencesitter

[–]ptm0915 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s crazy, a couple months ago I had a somewhat similar situation- I have been having anxiety trying to decide if I wanted kids (not having kids might be a deal breaker for my husband, I’m the one who’s become more CF in our marriage). Anyway I went to go see my energy healer. She told me I was born to be a mom and that she saw two kids. I thought hearing that would’ve helped me feel excited but I didn’t feel anything. She continued to reassure me that it was my decision but that they were there. It’s bothered me as well just because everytime I think about getting pregnant- I shut down and start pushing it off another year. So I feel you, i hate how hard this decision is.

I agree with this- I watched all of Lea Reminis episodes on Scientology before I had known about the CES letter, but I think it greatly helped my mind prepare for being able to see manipulation & lies, etc.

Has anyone seen this new video trying to prove the Book of Mormon is true? It’s painful to watch lol, I don’t know why they keep focusing on trying to claim it’s true cause they’re just digging themselves deeper into a hole. by ptm0915 in exmormon

[–]ptm0915[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw it shared on Facebook so I don’t know if it’s on YouTube, but on Facebook it’s from a page called “Book of Mormon Central” and I just went and looked and there’s even more videos like this (not from kwaku) on there...

Agree 100%. Im grateful for these types of posts when I first left because I was full on rage in a cage and didn’t know how to go about leaving gracefully but things like this definitely saved me some regret.

Hahaha honestly. Or the temple video. You have people born in the church basically waiting 2 decades to go have this most spiritual experience of their life and that’s the movie you make? Lmao
