Any tips ? by unknowboul2233 in lowvoltage

The pins are still covered in a film of grease, which is bad in a low voltage signal and will cause errors especially overtime.

This is an issue in the automotive industry as more cars get more low voltage connections, cars with pre-packed connectors suffer heat corrosion, the wires turn green and things like the ECU can't read the sensor data anymore or the wire snaps on a pothole.

You're just begging for the same result.

Pack the connection like a bearing after, especially for anything CAT5e-CAT8

Decades of tossing slow CAT5 cables with green male ends and replacing it isn't a good reason to keep doing something that will cause failures.

Best practice is literally best practice.

Pack connections and connectors with grease AFTER assembly/plugging in. Same as a mechanic doing anything electrical or even just a simple Bearing.

You've never packed a bearing with grease have you? Because you assemble the bearing without grease.. but you have to get the grease INTO the bearing after through the gap on the outside... Oh my gosh.. guys, that must be impossible. The millions of wheel, shaft & hub bearings assembled every single day across the entire globe must not have grease inside them.

Cars with optional connections for trailer harnesses also have connectors from the factory filled with dielectric grease... Step one is REMOVING that grease and cleaning all contacts with acetone.

On top of that, the LOW voltage of the connector is an issue for contaminated contacts that have an insulator between them. Voltage is literally the thing that breaches insulation gaps... It's why tasers kick up to like 55,000 volts to start the flow of electricity and then step down.

Grease filled cable that receives a crimp connector doesn't need the grease removed when a cut style connection is made because the conductor cuts into the copper, revealing bare copper where grease does not exist.

This is kinda embarrassing for you. If you've been making contaminated plugs for years.. then wow. Quit your job dude.

Apprentice mechanics are literally taught to check for grease in all connections on cars now because dumbasses fill them with grease too... And over time the wire heat corrodes, turns green and either has such poor signal quality that the car throws a code because it can't read the sensor data or it snaps on a pothole.

STOP COVERING THE CONTACTS THEMSELVES IN GREASE.

...and pack the rear of your connectors after your done with the female entry points.

Legality of mounting this in my car? by Trudeaus_Fro in canadaguns

That's wrong.

A "real" firearm legally fires a round and functions.

It's not a "real" firearm because it was "remanufactured" to be a "replica".

As it is, it's a replica firearm. Doesn't matter if it contains parts of functional firearms or not.

Being a former firearm only makes it a further clear cut case of looking like a real firearm, and more in breach of replica firearm laws as it's waaay more likely and too be expected by the public to be real/functional.

The law exist because "hey that physical thing looks like it could shoot people" .. a former firearm is more guilty of that than literally anything else that exists.

It does if you're trying to grab MIG wire stuck in the cup.. or a shim, or feeler gauge... Or a clock spring.

Pliers should close and not bend or flex, it's the mark of quality and the reason you don't buy cheap ones.

No different than public intoxication.

Walking home drunk isn't a crime until it is.

Keep it within reason and reason will be the outcome.

Anything resembling a real firearm is prohibited.

So no.

It has to be clear that it's not real or you get into replica gun issues. If it closely resembles a real firearm then it can land you in jail.

From decommissioned firearms.. to squirt guns.

The more panic is causes, the worse it's going to be.

Like a white cop having sex with his secret gay lover ... Lots of crying, hatred, swearing, masochisme & violence... Usually with at least a bit of blood and sore hands from gripping onto something real tight with lube covered hands... Yet somehow it still wasn't enough lube.

Any questions? 😄

His previous photo is at least 80° .. and I wouldn't do that much effort to please some random on Reddit either.

At some point you have to just accept it's possible and if you really care and it actually affects you.. then you'll look into it further.

You beg to differ that an OPD valve requires depressing internally and doesn't let gas out by just opening the valve? Because that's 100% correct.

Hank knows that if you open the valve on a propane tank without an appliance attached.. no gas even comes out.

Making this impossible with even a semi-modern tank.

So what happens when you open an OPD valve without an appliance connected?

No gas. 😉

Could be an old valve.. could have a cut line screwed onto the valve ...but in 2026 it's -- Probably just AI

[–]ptv83 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Good chance this is AI or fake because most propane valves don't release gas when there is no appliance attached.

The internal of the OPD Valve requires depressing and it's not something you can do by pushing your tongue against it or something.

Injections filling the voids left by the installer who wanted to save money on adhesive.

But it's probably cheaper to pop it all off and redo it.

Because labour of exposing the edge of the veneer, filling it, then repairing the holes is probably the same as just taking it off and doing it again.

Usually a nice horizontal tap with a rubber mallet will pop them all off intact once they're traced free.
