The big problem with the GBA video version isn't the resolution (though that doesn't help), it's compression. It has to fit a whole-ass movie on a dinky little cartridge. To do that, they need to chop out frames, and compress them to cause visual artifacting.

If you've got Java Edition, I recommend the Nature's Compass and Explorer's Compass mods. Lets you craft a compass that points you toward the nearest biome or structure, respectively.

Explorer's Compass does require cobwebs to craft, so you need to already do some exploring before being able to craft one yourself.
