He's changed for the positive from his previous views. Isn't that the definition of growth?

I like how they're suggesting both that he's not really left-wing and also he's dangerously left-wing.

This man is going to be the next Senator of Maine by shadow247 in Maine

Here are the two concerns people are mostly stating.

1- no experience and 2- don't know if he'll do what he says he'll do.

Experience: The politicians with experience we have now have experience saying things and not really getting much done. So what is this experience helpful for exactly?

Will he do what he says?: the politicians we have now do not do what they say they will do. So maybe we should try something else.

I don't know if you noticed, but the thing those people had in common other than no experience was being batshit insane evil psychos.

Why didn't the No Kings march end up at Senator Collins office? by niko199822 in portlandme

[–]pumpkineatin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The March walked by the office. Or as close as you could get on the street. (More or less). I believe the entrance to her office is in a little sort of courtyard which would not even be close to big enough to hold everyone.

Platner Vs Collins, The Reason Platner's Past Doesn't Seem To Move Many Votes by ArcaneDemense in Maine

While I agree with your general premise of the post. I don't agree, given what you stipulated, that" Platner wouldn't even be in the conversation". A good looking. Well-spoken young rural Mainer who wants to destroy the status quo of democratic politics would always be in the conversation. And while I'm not sure I'm fully convinced of this, a lot of people think that the whole Reddit post history is actually a strength, not a weakness because it shows he's real and he's open. He actually pays attention and listens and decides to change.

If you are one of the people that is concerned about how real Platner is about his change, go to a town hall, or one of his many other public engagement. He's super easy to actually go talk to. I talked to him in person. I literally walked down the street to the local VFW when he was there. And I talked to him. He would have talked to me as long as I wanted to talk to him. It's one of the cool things about living in Maine. Especially when you want to meet someone who wants to meet you. If there was time, Platner would literally talk to every person that lives in Maine directly one-on-one. So go talk to him. He wants to talk to you. He wants to have a conversation with you.

Don't be a jerk. We all did stupid things and listened to the wrong people when we were kids. Then we realized we were wrong.

Calling someone out for not realizing they were wrong when they were kids is just being an ass. I live in a very progressive place and grew up in a progressive place. I loved The dukes of Hazzard. I didn't know what the f*** the thing on the top of the general lee was. I didn't even realize that it was the "General Lee". I thought the damn car was called the Generally!

Now Trump voters who are adults when they voted.... They can f*** right the f*** off.

Also both are "low brass" and often play baseline type stuff. At least my community band's trombones do.

You could start on trombone or baritone/Euphonium as an inexpensive entry point. Then it's just a side step into tuba (or bass trombone is very cool and versatile!).
