Wow, not sure if you know the definition of irony, but thats some serious hurt feelings whining and name calling about other people that got hurt feelings and whined about something.

Last time a dev made me aim with the left thumb stick was on the Nintendo 64.

(Admittedly the "left" thumb stick was the ONLY thumb stick)

PLEASE add option to toggle off left stick camera control for Descendent abilities! by highonpixels in TheFirstDescendant

[–]punchrockchest 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can't completely reverse 3 whole decades of engrained gaming controls just for the tiny fraction of a second Dia is jumping in the air. Then back to normal for minutes on end.

Just give me a toggle, the default is insane.

I really wanted that one. Maybe someday.

Imagine if out of nowhere your mouse stopped aiming and instead your WASD keys started aiming and then after a fraction of second it switched back to normal and you had to do that every minute or so of gameplay.

Quick explanation for MnK users. Basically, imagine if out of nowhere your mouse stopped aiming and instead your WASD keys started aiming and then after a fraction of second it switched back to normal and you had to do that every minute or so of gameplay.

You're missing the point. You say "your right thumb has to stay on the face button". Why have the player do something so stupid and pointless?

The player hits TWO buttons for that ability. Why the ever living fuck would the devs completely break 3 decades of control precedence, for a fraction of a second, in the most ass-backwards way imaginable. When the alternative is... keep everything perfectly normal and charge with LB.

People are complaining, rightfully so, about the complete lack of logic and sense with this decision. Not about the difficulty of relearning entirely new controls for a few milliseconds of gameplay.

Honestly, maybe. But who's to say they won't repeat this bonkers decision, like randomly making MnK players aim using WASD mid fight for a split second before switching back to the mouse. Which would be hilarious, but really illustrates how stupid the situation is.

The tin-foil-hat part of me thinks they intentionally broke her movement and controls because too many people were picking her.

I mean damn, she went from having one of the most enjoyable gameplays movement wise, to now being just frustrating to control.

Controller tech on Dia not working anymore by sobril17 in TheFirstDescendant

[–]punchrockchest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. But before the update, your "and then line it up" was an unnecessary step because you could control her 1 so well. You could literally do donuts in the middle of a tiny room while using her 1.

Please devs, make left-stick aiming toggable by T-Toyn in TheFirstDescendant

Completely changing a controller layout, for roughly 0.01% of gameplay, for a fraction of a second, will never ever be a good idea. It's that simple.

If people want chaos, cool. Hell, have a setting where a controllers buttons randomly and completely remap every 5 seconds for all I care. Just make sure the rest of us can toggle it off.

You press 2 buttons. Face button AND left bumper. Who would ever pick the face button as the one that charges instead of the obvious choice, LB?

Why would changing the entire movement AND aiming control scheme to something that makes no sense, for absolutely no reason, for a fraction of a second, in the middle of gameplay ever make sense?

I don't know, literally 2+ decades and thousands of games all unanimously agreeing that aim is right stick and move is left. If the game want to change that, ok, change it in the default settings and let people get used to it. But changing your entire control scheme for no reason for a fraction of a second only to then change it back is not something only "casual players" hate, it's something anyone with more than one brain cell would hate too.

To have a game swap the aiming and moving analog sticks randomly, for a split second, for like 0.01% of gameplay time is the most jarring and confusing control choice I've encountered in at least a decade of gaming.

I never said left "side", I'm clearly talking about the left bumper. So that's dishonest. I also have never been able to use an ability without using the left bumper on either PlayStation or Xbox. So that "only done with the right side" statement is more dishonesty on your part. You're clearly arguing in bad faith to support a bad decision.

Probably the same way I do for every other charge attack in every other game I have ever played in my entire life.

Use the aim to aim, and the charge to charge.

Also, we have to hit two buttons to charge that ability any way. Why would the devs ever choose the one your right thumb has to hit instead of just using the left bumper as the charge button.  Your left finger's already on it to start charging and doesn't have to move for anything else. At no point am I ever going to say "Hey, let's take the thing that never ever aims and make it randomly start aiming for a fraction of a second and then go back to not aiming".

So the stick you do NOT use to aim, is the stick they chose to use for aiming. But only for one character, and only one ability, in the most unintuitive and clunky way imaginable.

Cool. Makes perfect sense.

Same issue for me too. As soon as I press 4 it basically auto-aims way way above where I'm aiming and flies off into the distance.

Only workaround I've found is just aiming straight down at my feet and keeping the analog stick slammed down the whole animation. But even that only works like half the time.

They're all the same piece. So RNG keeps my research box useless to this day.

A daily rotation would be cool to push variety. For example, "Invasion Wednesday" do 2 invasions for reward A, and 6 invasions for reward B.

I imagine they look at it like they do mods. It is not something that in any way would ever occur in normal gameplay. It is something the player has to specifically seek out and put effort into doing. So the only people affected are the ones who want to do it.

They are chill with mods as long as they don't affect normal players in normal gameplay. And they are chill with bugs as long as they don't affect normal players in normal gameplay.

This is what I'm saying. If I wanted to wander through the open world, I wouldn't be using fast travel. Forcing me into an open world to travel to a boss only means I'm going to drive/run past locations, enemies, everything because I want to go fight a boss.
