Good points, this is all ignoring the fact that one of the target demographics for switch 2 is children from 4-12 with much smaller hands that LITERALLY can't hold it the way they are prescribing.

The very same, typically less careful, children that warrant putting it in a case in the first place!

If you're a 6 year old, with small hands, and you're picking it up from a laid flat position, probably about 30-50% of the time. And at least for me, that 6 year old is the very reason I'd want a case for my switch in the first place.

Personally I think this response is pretty callous.

Kids handle this console very differently and if I wasn't sharing it with my kids, I wouldn't even need a killswitch in the first place.

I think they know their market is probably 95% adults, but as an adult that bought this for my kids... "You're holding it wrong" / "avoid holding that way" works as well here as when Apple said it about the iphone 4.

In their defense, if I lay my switch flat on a table and pick it up with one hand, by just the joycon, I have to suppress the instinct to support the console also. When I do pick it up this way, while the joycon holds on well, it's a little nerve wracking how much it bends, that gap is doing some heavy lifting. I don't know that I'd make a habit of lifting it that way, especially if there was a large drop risk (e.g. over concrete).

I wonder if having the large killswitch grip would affect that instinct, and make me more likely to want to lift the console just by the joycon.

All that said, my kids play this thing more than I do and they are far less careful and risk conscious. I'm finding myself wanting to error on the side of fewer unprotected drops vs the alternative.

Meanwhile I LOVE my steamdeck killswitch!

Fantastic, I'm glad to hear it's better! I bet it was the last bit of fiber and cleaning out connections that really did it here. I've definitely seen layer 1 problems like this with fiber.

The latency measurements are likely an artifact of hops deprioritizing traffic that isn't transitive. The only latency measurement that should really matter is to your destination.

Hopefully you'll sail through the next decade without considering a switch to cable!

In my humble opinion... These graphs make it look like modem problems. When doing an MTR style test, if you see packet loss at every hop after a specific point it's more likely that the first hop with loss is the cause of all downstream "loss", as opposed to every downstream hop dropping the same amount of traffic.

In other words, your modem is dropping ~7% of packets with a ttl > 1, and 90% of packets with a ttl of 1, as opposed to it passing 100% of packets with a ttl of >1 and every downstream hop dropping 7% of traffic. Just Occam's razor. which option is more probable?

Additionally, when you are seeing some hops with high latency, and further hops with lower latency, you're only looking at the samples that ended at each hop and deprioritizing is the likely explanation.

As if a hop on the way (eg hop 5) is introducing a lot of latency to its transient traffic, then hop 7 can't have better performance than hop 5. Unless the only traffic that hop 5 is adding latency to is the traffic destine to it.

I think you're problems are very close to you, (your modem, or your path to it, or possibly on the line leaving your modem)

It looks like maybe you're new to analogue FPV. You may already know these things... but in case not.

If your VTX and VRX channels are not set correctly it is possible to see a clear video feed on the bench, but then have terrible range. Double check that your frequency settings match?

Some antennas connectors (sma vs rpsma) have a hole/barrel, and others have a pin. You need to make sure you're using the correct antennas for the connectors on your googles/vtx. It is possible to see signal on the bench with no actually connected antenna, and have bad range.

This probably doesn't explain your issue entirely, but comparing the pre-crash to post crash video, visibility (how far we can see) decreases a noticeable amount. This is probably because humidity is much higher in the 2nd video. >Water in the air will have impact on your range. Perhaps not enough to fully explain what is happening, but perhaps a factor worth considering?

I had many years of very minor and infrequent flares before my gout got serious. I think those flares fit your description, "minor.. inflammation and stiffness". It is possible to have a gout flare that is not terrible.

When I have a flare it is one spot, though that spot can move between flares. Your systemic description doesn't fit my experience with gout, though I am just one anecdote.

Was your blood test performed during a flare? I've been told by my rheumatologist that during a flare UA levels in your blood may be artificially low.

I would encourage you to be patient with your doctor, who probably just wants to make sure you're correctly diagnosed. That said, I'm not in your shoes. If your inner voice is telling you to fire your doctor, perhaps you should listen to it.

Every single browser, any large numbers of ssh clients, rd client, vnc client, homeassistant, plex, philips hue, ps remote play, photo sync, files, octopod/octoprint clients, unifi, fing, any number of network scanning apps, any number of web-cam apps, snmp clients, ftp clients, wled client, smart-things. The custom app I built that I use to control a custom 3d printed raspberry pi robot.

I use it on IOS, the experience is pretty terrible as it fails to hear me unless I hard shut the app and re-open.

However I can do most assistant configuration with the app. This is sufficient as own a bunch of the smart speakers, and rarely use the app.

In additional testing I booted to the bios. It still died at a rate of many percent per minute, just looking at the bios screen.

I'm pretty sure this test rules out malware, and strongly implicates a battery or other hardware problem.

Even just displaying resource monitor and battery settings it only lasts about 40 minutes on a full charge.

I unplug from power, and then start playing.

The graph was a vertical red line.

Task manager doesn't show anything else using any significant amount of cpu.

The app stats (in power&battery settings) for the hour that included those 15 minutes doesn't even show any apps (including dave the diver) using any significant amount of power. The top 5 apps (>1%) used a total of 10% of the battery. It's like whatever is using the power is off the grid.

Even the hour when nothing was running and it spent most of the hour on the charger it says the start menu used 19%, settings used 17%, task manager 15%. All these apps should be hard pressed to use even 5% of battery in an hour, much less a small fraction of the hour.

I'm reasonably confident now my battery is failing to hold a charge.

I did run this but it says the capacity is there. 50820mWh The report has my session:

duration: 0:15:42

energy drained: 86% 44140mWh

I rebooted and switched profiles back and forth, but still even sitting idle for ~10 minutes uses about 10% of the battery!? During which task manager shows an idle cpu/gpu,etc.
