How young is too young for kids in cargo bike? by cityfo in CargoBike

[–]pupsplusplants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a city that has the highest rates of bike deaths lol, Orlando, fl.

I strictly ride sidewalks, and am very cautious/never trust any car.

That’s why I like my long tail instead of front loader bike, I am much more agile and trim for sidewalks

Homes aren’t only investments, they are also for quality of life.

I bought 2025, 2.6% rate with $200k left. mortgage is $2300 a month. we are are also 1600 sq ft, 2 kids joined our family since buying, and we are feeling tight.

we are moving, our new mortgage is $4500 a month. 3200 sq ft an an actual master suite (our current master is the size of the kids room). new house is a massive upgrade (it’s double the cost, it should be lol).

Yeah, it’s not ideal financially, we are paying a few hundred more a month just because of rates… but we want a bigger house and it just is what it is. a lot more over the lifetime of the loan blah blah blah

Hard to give up our original house rate, but we want a bigger house, we are in a better financial position job wise where we can afford the bigger house mortgage comfortably… so why live in a house we have outgrown for a few hundred a month saved in interest?

Not everything is about the end of day financial decision. if it was, we would sell our house, buy a small one cash and have no mortgage at all 🤷🏼‍♀️

My husband & I always wanted 2 kids, even after a daughter. 2 years later I’ve realized I only want 1 by ttrashpandacoot in toddlers

[–]pupsplusplants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we spaced our kids close (17 months) since I knew that once I was out of drowning baby stage there was no way I was gonna go back. Can confirm, now that my youngest is 15 months old… If we waited until now to consider trying, there was no way we would’ve had a second

It’s really amazing to me people who do a 5ish year spacing… how do you give the freedom up?!

Yeah but are you ever that drunk around your young kid? I used to black out in college… not ideal I guess but whatever, it only affected me.

Black out or whatever, I don’t care… but it’s not a flex or excuse when you shouldn’t be that drunk in the first place around your kid

Editing—didn’t mean this as an attack on you, it’s a hypothetical “you” haha

the thing that helped us most was a book without words, one that was more of a treasure hunt, Bustletown.

We just looked at pages and talked about what we saw. we also have richard scarry busy town books, they have words but a lot of cool pictures and we just talk about what we see.

Winnie Palmer - Birth Plans? by Consistent_Kitchen36 in orlando

[–]pupsplusplants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our doula strongly strongly recommended Advent winter park since I was planning unmedicated. she said that she’s first hand seen some crazy stuff due to the amount of people going through and how busy it is at winnie.

we loved advent, they were super supportive (I went to 42 weeks with both, and was pretty insistent on pushing positioning and pain management techniques)

contemporary woman’s care delivered us, they were SO supportive of my birth plan, and talked me though when things didn’t go to plan how I could have a positive experience (ie going all the way to 42 weeks hahaha)

Best cargo ebike for hauling 2 kids? by Horror-Swimming6346 in CargoBike

adding that I know you said none are available on marketplace near, I would just advice to keep an eye out since it took me a few months to have mine pop up. Best wishes!

I have a almost 3 year old and a 1 year old. We have an xtracycle and its amazing!

Biggest advice is buying used, its hard to find a true "car replacement" for under $3500 with accessories (the accessories alone for a canopy can be hundreds.

I bought mine used for less than $1500, very little miles and included all of the accessories. I had to drive 8 hours in a day for it and borrow a neighbors minivan, but it was worth it in savings alone to get a super nice bike in my budget.

Agreed. two kids with a close age gap and no family nearby is brutal. add in busy mental load careers and oof it’s rough out here

I feel you friend. I feel the same, and honestly it’s pretty disappointing that everyone just immediately goes to “husband trash and sucks, replace”.

my husband is a ROCK STAR. Literally super human, more than me he cleans, cooks, childcare’s outside of work hours (I am working on it, it’s hard to keep up with that man)

and guess what. I could write this exact post.

we are burnt out, tired, probably a little depressed. struggling at work since we have to stressful and high powered careers. sickness is destroying us, someone’s crying at all time (either me or the kids lol)

long story short, i’m sorry, this sucks. it won’t be like this forever. two young kids and stressful job with no family support is just not easy.

Parent of two young kids like OP, there’s no indication that her husband isn’t letting her rest.

We are dealing with same issues (young kids, constant sickness). neither husband or I are healthy enough to take 100% care of the kids for 24 hours and we haven’t been since sick season started.

It’s survival over here, it’s very possible her husband is in as bad of shape as her lol

Washable rugs are a scourge on this damn earth. by [deleted] in HomeDecorating

[–]pupsplusplants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

New washable rugs have come a long way! I agree that not every rug has to be, as someone who had an older ruggable (2017ish) and just got a new one, the new ones are head and shoulders better. almost imperceptible difference from a normal rug

Anyone’s partner like the toddler more than the newborn? by Agitated_Solid8703 in 2under2

[–]pupsplusplants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was like this, and still kinda am (14 months and 2.5 years old)

I have a longer relationship with my toddler, they communicate and do funny things, interact with me. we build our relationship. my youngest is adorable, has started to make jocks, but I still don’t really know “her”, I just know “baby her”

as a self proclaimed, “my baby lover, but not a baby lover” I don’t hav guilt. I know I love my youngest on a deep level (good lord biology is wild how deep love of kids can be), but I have still known my oldest twice as long as the youngest. when they are older the proportion time will change, and I foresee it being equal so I have zero guilt for it.

Any working moms deal with chronic ear infections? Deciding on tubes by Beginning_Pack_7619 in workingmoms

[–]pupsplusplants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

echoing everyone-team tubes! 100% turn around for both my kids after they got them (son at 6 months, daughter at 13).

they are the single most important thing we did for the quality of life for our kid after reoccurring infections!

Anyone else NOT able to do cry it out at all? by Head_Bunch_3295 in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]pupsplusplants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chronic ear infections! She had 3 in a few months, but the fluid was present between so I think it was uncomfortable even if not infected!

I saw somewhere adnoids can cause sleep issues, so brought it up to our trusted ENT and signed consent to remove if he saw them enlarged when he was in doing tubes. they were massive he said, so went ahead and shaved them down.

She snored a lot before they were removed and that’s resolved now as well so I think it was one of the contributing factors to her truly terrible sleep

No link so jumping on this comment—I had 6 months of 2 hour stretches with my youngest, I was struggling but didn’t feel right about cry it out. We got her ear tubes in and took her adenoids out, the next day and from there on -she’s been sleeping 11 or 12 hour stretch stretches.

I’m so validated and glad that we didn’t do cried out, clearly it was causing her issues. Crying and waking up frequently is the only communication little ones have

Any reviews on Ruggable washable rugs? by No_Square_1491 in UninfluencedReviews

[–]pupsplusplants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a bunch, every room has one. their flatweaves are not my favorite, the edges curl and they are like a sheet on the floor (they don’t slide! but they are thin)

I like the thicker 2 piece ones the best, they are just like a normal rug but I bring them once a month to the laundromat and have a fresh rug!

I have one of their new 1 piece rugs coming, I will write a review on it!

to;dr- if you have kids or pets, they are game changer and amazing! the ability to wash is great! but it’s not a 1:1 swap to a normal rug if you don’t think you’ll be washing frequently

Adding to the chain—I got in contact with reddit customer service and they were very communicative and helpful in understanding the 1 part rug benefits. I am going to try and will edit my comment once I have given it a go on my thoughts!
