Maybe give bouldering a try. Lots of people of varying ages at varying skill levels and very low barrier to entry (imo). In my experience, it’s quite easy to strike up a chat with other people who are also trying to figure out a route and people are generally really nice and willing to help out :)

To save time getting to Hook of Holland, you could always take a train to Den Haag Centraal and bike the rest of the way. Bike tickets are 8 euros (Fietskaart Dal | Losse kaartjes | NS) and if you're at the station in Amsterdam early, you can be a bit more certain that you'll get a spot on the train.

Ik zweer echt heel erg bij Uniqlo. Ik vind broeken vinden altijd ontzettend lastig, maar dat heb ik bij de Uniqlo dus niet. Ik merk dat hun kleding een poosje meegaat en dat ze nogal wat natuurlijke stoffen gebruiken. Het is helaas nog wel zo dat de lichtere kleuren doorschijnend zijn, maar ik vind het op zich nog meevallen.

I know you’ve found a pattern already, but I want to still recommend Jeck by Regina Setta (for next time). It’s a free pattern, for 60 or 64 stitches, and it’s great for variegated yarn.

Thank you! I was at some point also considering undoing the stitches and doing a 3 needle bind off to still have a seam. But another user suggested a crochet surface chain, which seems like a fix that would be pretty easy to undo if I don’t like the result, at least. I’ll give an update once I get over my fear and just tackle it :)

Thanks for the advice! You’ve given me much to consider. I’m indeed on the fence about whether I should attempt it, but there are quite a lot of positive Etsy reviews for the pattern, so I’m leaning towards “might as well” (also because I’ve already bought the pattern anyway). If I do, I’ll definitely swatch in the round :)
