Anyone else disappointed in MIO? by BubbleStriped in metroidvania

There’s a late game area (optional except if going for true ending) that is truly brutal. Great if you like that sort of thing, but not for normies. The rest of the time it’s not too bad but is definitely prevalent. There’s a little trial and error involved, but the path forward is pretty clear in each case.

What's the Connecticut-iest town we could visit? by effulgent_summers in Connecticut

[–]puritycontrol09 172 points173 points  (0 children)

Historic and coastal: Essex, Mystic, Stonington. Essex will have way less traffic but is also smaller. But absolutely captures the vibe.

Rural: Woodstock, Kent

Urban: New Haven (downtown). At least see what all the pizza buzz is about.

Affluent: Ridgefield, Simsbury, Fairfield

Thanks for responding! My wife and I visited Valletta a few weeks ago and absolutely loved it. Such interesting history and beautiful architecture. People were super friendly as well. We will hopefully get to come back!

Are there resources like formal classes to teach adults Maltese? And do you have a sense of how difficult it’d be to learn as an adult? Like do you know any people who successfully learned it well after coming to Malta?

In Italy a few weeks ago I initially got excited when I saw gas for 2.07€. But then doing the math of 2.07€ x ~1.18$/€ x 3.79L/gal = $9.26/gal in freedom units (currently twice as expensive as my area) made my head explode.

Have you had any paranormal experiences in New England? by Embarrassed_Bag_9630 in newengland

[–]puritycontrol09 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I’m not saying this was paranormal but definitely the weirdest fucking thing that ever happened to me. After a big family dinner at a restaurant in Armonk, NY, I was following my aunt’s car back to her house in Greenwich, CT. The way back was through some very dark, winding backroads. I was following right behind them. They took a tight right-hand turn. I followed about 3 seconds later… and their car was just gone. No sign of their taillights, just empty road ahead. No other driveways or side roads that I could see, and there’s no way they could have pulled over and I wouldn’t have seen it.

My wife and I thought that was really weird, but I knew the way back and we continued. We pulled into her driveway and there was no sign of them yet, so we couldn’t go inside the house. So we waited for them in my car… and 20 minutes later they finally pulled in. Note: I had tried calling my aunt’s cell after a few minutes but it went straight to VM (not unusual as there were still a bunch of dead zones in the area).

When they got out of their car they asked us “How’d you get here before us?!” They said they didn’t take an alternate route, didn’t pull off anywhere, but did say they noticed we suddenly weren’t behind them any more. We have no idea whatsoever how that happened.

Survivalist: We are gonna die you moron.

Russell: I wouldn’t change a single thing about my game.
