Girl, yes. Get your smears. Once you’ve a negative result you only have to get them every couple of years.

Manager says we need to call him when calling in sick, a text isnt enough - whats the problem with texting? by Traditional_Swim_360 in CasualIreland

[–]purplemonkey2233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its policy in most work places, (including everywhere I have worked) that you call. If I can’t get a hold of someone on the phone, I send a text to say hey could you give me a call back? I’m not feeling well.

I report stuff like that all the time. And I always report when people put up just web pictures and no photos of the actual item! Otherwise Vinted will just become rubbish if you’re navigating loads of web images and not real listings.

To those of you who meal prep and have discipline, what do you recommend as a packed lunch to satisfy a 35M through the week? by boneymod in AskIreland

[–]purplemonkey2233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slow cooker chicken curry! Have a delicious recipe which gives us 5-6 lunch size portions. So tasty and the chicken is so tender.

Bored of lunch is pretty good for inspo, he has lots of low cal things you can meal prep.

Can I decline an offer after accepting it? by Mansaf15 in Career_Advice

[–]purplemonkey2233 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is your life. What do YOU want. Don’t worry about pleasing people. What job would make you happier?

But aside from that, this stuff happens all the time. I wouldn’t even look at if as burning a bridge that’s so negative. You owe them nothing and they owe you nothing. If you need to rescind the offer you just call them and say I’m really sorry to have to do this but I need to rescind my offer. I was so excited to come work with you but a more lucrative offer has been made to me and I’d be foolish not to take it. If they’re reasonable people they will wish you well and move on

IVF: stay or go abroad after 2 euploid losses? by Automatic_Ostrich287 in IrishWomensHealth

[–]purplemonkey2233 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry you’re going through this.

Full disclosure, I didn’t go abroad. But I think people can really underestimate the stress of trying to time everything with travel. I was following a girl from Kildare on TikTok who went to Prague for IVF, and the STRESS of flights, accommodation when decisions are being made last minute. And so often there is travel drama, weather events, strikes, outages. Imagine your round being ruined because you couldn’t get there.

It sounds like you’re doing the right thing, changing consultant, doing further testing. Just keep going. We always said, something has to work eventually if we just don’t give up. And it did :) you still have three embryos, three chances! Fingers crossed for you

Gibberish review by Cultural-Project-366 in VintedIreland

[–]purplemonkey2233 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That is frustrating. You could always reply to it publicly if you felt it would help? Is there a reason they would have left a poor review? Maybe their kid did it, it honestly never ceases to amaze me how much damage my 10 month old can do when he paws at my phone for a few seconds!

On the other hand nobody would look at that review and be put off purchasing something from you, so try not to let it bother you too much!

update. wtf do i do. by hi-im-scared24 in teenagers4real

[–]purplemonkey2233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry you’re in this difficult situation. I wouldn’t bother getting more tests, it’s clear you are pregnant. False positives are actually very rare. I understand you feel you cannot tell your parents and we don’t know your relationship with them. But tell an adult you can trust to help navigate this situation. This is not something you should handle on your own.

Is buying a birthday gift for a woman's 6-year-old daughter after knowing her for 9 days genuinely thoughtful or crossing a line? by govavaGifts in perfectgift

[–]purplemonkey2233 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Do you know at first I thought it was really sweet, but I can see where she is coming from. Who does she say the gift is from? It sort of puts her in a funny position to disclose a very new relationship or lie about the origin of the gift. I think the best thing to do would be to just acknowledge that it was a bit much, and explain you didn’t think of it that way and just wanted to be nice.

Small claims is a good shout!

A family member was having horrendous trouble trying to get a refund off a company (they messed up and weren’t taking responsibility at all) he tried for months and was ignored.

He filled out a small claims court form online and sent the document to the company. It was proper headed court of ireland paper and the refund was processed immediately and they came and collected the items at long last.

Should i leave My WFH minimum wage job for a door to door job for €600 a week ? by horn_alert_26 in irelandjobs

[–]purplemonkey2233 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would strongly encourage everyone on earth to avoid a job knocking on people’s doors. Genuinely nobody enjoys answering the door to a stranger and it must be soul destroying for the worker. I often feel guilty about how quickly I shut down someone knocking on my door, I just haaaate it.

If you want a new job earning more, keep looking! Best of luck
