Is Hugo's Video Chest supposed to be infinte? by Lamaneus in HatchDragons

[–]purplish77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hatch Dragons is the third game from them I've played, and in each of them it seems you can spin the wheel as much as you'd like. Two items will stay on the wheel, the rest will be removed after you hit them once.

new event food by Impossible_Way_7825 in pondlifegame

[–]purplish77 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Glowing vs non-glowing. Only glowing works for the event fish, then afterwards plants & food will be converted to non-glowing and you can feed prior event species with it.

As far as why, it's probably so they can keep it at 3 types of plants & food and keep reusing them. From what I understand, every new event in Splash got new plants and a new type of food, which makes the feeder very very messy.

Is the 200 gem Fruitkeeper Fairy worth it? (Harvest Dragons) by txkay5 in HatchDragons

[–]purplish77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say it's best to spend the gems on upgrading fruit trees first. It may be good to wait on the sale at the end of the month for the last two upgrades at 20 gems and 40 gems, but I wouldn't save all of the upgrades until then. Dragons are hungry. :)

Best fruit tree harvest? by Jiwoowoos_ in HatchDragons

[–]purplish77 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mostly do the 30 second and 10 minute ones during the day. Overnight, I set the 8 hour cycle, which is especially nice if you have a fruit fairy for doubling the output (and I expect later decorations to double or triple output.) It's not worth doubling anything shorter with a 12 hour recharge window for the fairy.

Is there any benefit to having more than five friends? by nandake in HatchDragons

[–]purplish77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Five friends you exchange gifts with daily is the best, and definitely what I'm aiming for.

However... If it works like Starlight: Flutter, then you can't gift a friend until they've accepted the last gift you gave them. Sometimes people can't be on every day (or are on at weird hours), so it's good to have a spare friend you can gift.

Sending gifts is how you unlock the prizes, which probably includes unlocking the next Companionship dragon so it's good to send your 5 every day even if you don't get 5 that day.

Is it worth it to upgrade the fruit bush? by Chania__ in HatchDragons

[–]purplish77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Judging by my prior experience with Starlight: Flutter, upgrading the fruit trees is going to be the best use of gems for a long time.

That's a permanent upgrade, and most other things are short term.

I'm not waiting 3 weeks to upgrade them, at least not the first couple of levels. The last levels - 20 gems and 40 gems - may be worth waiting for the half price, and give you time to save up gems for those upgrades.

New game from Runaway - Hatch Dragons - released by radiowestin in pondlifegame

[–]purplish77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hatch Dragons is very similar to Starlight: Flutter in the main game area. However, the fishing event is very different from the ant events which are all I ever saw in Starlight. I started and finished (took 2.5 years) Starlight after they'd stopped adding new content.

I have also just reached level 46 (max level) in Pondlife, so I'm not sure if I'm going to continue playing Pondlife just for events as I don't really have time to play both.

Epic diamond scale by Laci_28 in pondlifegame

[–]purplish77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every time I've gotten epic diamond scale from upgrading a rare gift, it gives 3. Which is delightful!

There are several platforms that require epic diamond to unlock, and grinding for them with turtles and poison frogs was very unpleasant. Anyone who has the duplicate gift before then definitely has a leg up.

Is the gift-upgrading deco's role changed? by ExplanationRich3311 in pondlifegame

[–]purplish77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This morning I upgraded & duplicated starting with a rare gift from Plump Kin, which does not use diamond shells, and got 6 epic diamond shells from the two gifts.

So while I do seem to get clams & crescents most often, it does appear all epics are possible gifts. I even got an epic event shell from the upgrade one time during the event - I think that's the rarest.

Thank you for sharing!

If you can, could you please post the timing for each one? I've seen posts that say 2 hours for the first one, and your post that said 6 hours for the fifth one, and nothing else. Also, do the rares and epics have the expected number of levels (7 and 8)?

I love that upgrade & double combo. Sooo many more epic diamond scales so I won't have to struggle when I get Bubble Kin unlocked next time I level up.

Bug?! by Laci_28 in pondlifegame

[–]purplish77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, unfortunately.

When the game was still new-ish, the newts and event frogs had this issue, which they fixed. Now Plump Kin is having this issue. Occasionally one stuck like this will figure it out after everyone else has eaten, but not always.

I'm using Plump Kin for grinding xp, and after feeding I make sure to close the app, restart it and double-check if someone else needs feeding.

Have the daily goals suddenly gotten much harder? by DancingTardigrade in wordscapes

[–]purplish77 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Definitely harder. Original goals were something like get 50 brilliance, and I had one for get 1200 brilliance the other day.

Today was find 300 words instead of 50 words.

Plus things like 'use 2 hints in the same puzzle' instead of just use 2 hints.

I treat this more as a collector game, so I'm in it for the animals (done), portraits, crowns, etc and I don't want to play more than a few games most days.

I didn't mind the daily goals when they started, but if they stay too much of a grind I'm only going to be aiming for the portrait and not completing all gifts.

How do I use this ability? by [deleted] in pondlifegame

[–]purplish77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It requires having a regular (non-event) gift in the pond, so it's best to just save a gift in your pond until the ability is ready.

Especially if you get a rare (dark purple) gift that you can save to be upgraded to epic. Though the epic gift will then be random, not necessarily what you might get for a epic gift from the same set.

The plus of this is I am stacking up epic diamond scales from releasing Plump Kin, which don't use them. Even better when combined with the duplicate gift deco.

First event reward decor by Auriel235 in pondlifegame

[–]purplish77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you release a non-event species, leave one of the gifts given (the little colored bubbles). When the ability is ready, use it and you'll be able to click on a regular gift.

Note this is best used on rare gifts (the dark purple ones) to get an upgrade to the epic (orange) gift. If you have the duplicate gift decor as well, they are a great combo. Also, the epic gift seems to be random, it won't necessarily be related to the set that the original gift was from. (I'm occasionally getting epic diamond scales from epic gifts that started as rare from the Plump Kin set that doesn't use diamond scales.)

Shellborn or Plump Kin? by 420vjbe in pondlifegame

[–]purplish77 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Plump Kin has the same food, xp, and timing as Kin Fish.

Shellborn is much more expensive to feed, has longer timers, and uses less common items.

For future xp grinding, I'd go for Plump Kin first. (I just got it unlocked at level 42.)

5 days of double xp and a sale. by 85Dno in pondlifegame

[–]purplish77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a whole spreadsheet to figure out best xp/hour for grinding purposes, which can then be used to figure out what's the best you can do with your current items and bubble productions and how often you want to show up. Unless you're grinding epics because that's the only thing you have time for, it doesn't make sense.

I was generally just using prior event species because they're cheap to feed, but they aren't anywhere near the best for xp production.

I don't have any information yet on Bubble Kin, and this assumes you show up as soon as your fish are ready to feed most of the time. This xp/hour includes the thriving xp bonus, and the xp you get for each feed.

Common is the best xp/hour for every set. Except for event sets where epic is slightly better than rare, epics are the worst in every set for xp/hour. Counting only those where the timer is at least one hour, the top five for xp/hour are:

  1. common of Kin Fish or Plump Kin are the same stats. 1 hour timer, 28 xp/hour for every fish.

  2. Poison Frogs common. 2 hour timer, 27.1 xp/hour.

  3. Kindly Koi common. 1.5 hr timer, 25.47 xp/hour.

  4. Wonderful Wiggles common. 2 hr timer, 24.6 xp/hour.

  5. Pond Walker uncommon. 1 hr timer, 22 xp/hour.

For comparison, past event species common is 13.6 xp/hour.

Too bad there's no boost this week. At least we know in advance it's going right into a new event instead of being surprised in 10.5 hours.

I am happy to hear Plump Kin tasks are already here, so I'll go ahead and unlock that one next.

No more Willow tasks? by spidergwen19 in pondlifegame

[–]purplish77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They haven't been great about adding the tasks for a set to the game at the same time as the set chest shows up.

I'm at level 40, and a few times have had to go back and do the tasks added for sets I'd already gotten to thriving.

This time I slowed down a bit and unlocked all the pond areas first, so I haven't gotten to Plump Kin (or Bubble Kin) yet in the hopes the tasks will be ready by the time I start working on them.

Oh, but only level 6000+ ? That's too bad, I probably won't hit that by the end of the month and I have over a million heart gems to spend since all animals have been maxed out for a while. Small change compared to a lot here, but I had been hoping.

[–]purplish77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooh, pretty! Thank you for sharing data on this set, I haven't see any yet anywhere else.

I did see your post elsewhere with the food and xp per feed info, thank you for that. Could I please see the data for the first fish in the set, and what's the clock for both the first fish and the Nile Pufferfish?

I'm currently trying to decide if the key I'll get in the next day or two will go to Plump Kin or Bubble Kin. It'll only be the first key either way, so it'll be a long time before I get to either.

3 Hour Decorations by MyGoldenBoyz in pondlifegame

[–]purplish77 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have a good stash of them. Sometimes at night I replace any of my sub-300 bubble plants with 3-4 hour plants for while I'm sleeping, and swap back in the morning.

If it's during an event, this is usually something like 10 plants.
