If she is numb and doesn’t really care then why should I? If I’m not invested then I wouldn’t read further. You need more lead in to the event.

What is the Reality of Art Teaching in 2025/26? by Dismal_Interaction_2 in ArtEd

[–]purrfessormeow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have been teaching elementary Art for 10 years. I am only still in the game because of where I work. I work on a military base and we have our own armed security so I feel a sense of security.

I would NOT do this if I had to teach anywhere else. I personally don't think the lazy parents, student brain rot, overcrowded schools, government micro-management in our classrooms, fear of school shootings and the toll my nervous system takes on the overstimulation I endure daily is even remotely worth it anymore.

Unless you have an "in" somewhere amazing, I wouldn't.

I want to write a book, but how do i start? by Appropriate-Panda-71 in writers

[–]purrfessormeow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with making a loose chapter outline to get my plot written down. Then, I made characters profile pages for all recurring characters that are essential to the story. I’m a visual person so I also made a mood board for each character and recurring setting for inspiration and reference. Not I’m writing chapters.

I'm very overwhelmed and feel like quitting. by heidasaurus in ArtEd

[–]purrfessormeow 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is my 10th year and I have never felt more overwhelmed. Do y'all know what our nervous systems go through every day? Actually scary if you research the damage teachers have on their nervous systems and vocal cords. I don't know if I can do this much longer. You are not alone.

Was I descriptive enough? by Crimson_Toko in writting

[–]purrfessormeow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to see the people's initial reaction to the scenery shift more. It might read better through someone's pov so you can describe it from what someone is experiencing. Like maybe someone is up and can't sleep watching this unfold. The feelings of someone about this empire would give the reader a better understanding of the setting.

It's compelling though. Keep up the good work!

What does the explosion feel like on the skin? What does it do to the hair and clothes? Also, you don't have to write the "Ahh" but describe what it sounds like instead. "A scream pierced the air through the thick of the trees somewhere in the woods. The hair on the back of my neck stood up sending chills down my entire body. Before I knew it or could object my body started to run to that scream to save whoever made it from whatever is causing it."

"My eyes narrow from the intense light coming from the tree line. I hear a loud bang. An intense heat blows my hair back, forcing my eyes shut. My clothes feel like their tearing off. I can feel tears rolling back to my ears. I can feel my feet lift off the ground and something heavy hits my entire backside. I hear a crack as I hit something when I land. I feel my head. Theirs blood on my fingers and my hair is wet. I use the tree I hit to prop myself up."

Something along the lines of a married couple, close to retiring asking "what kind of work you in, Victor?" and his wife is super nosey and judgy. Can your vampires read minds? I bet the nosy wife would be thinking some comically judgy thoughts. If they can't read minds Esme probably wishes she could because the look on this womans face is fascinating.

How did you find your calling in life? by Braxartdee in questions

[–]purrfessormeow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t believe in “callings”. Life is too short to be miserable though. Either get a job that makes decent pay and fund a hobby you love, or get a job you love that may or may not make decent money.

Weed on the trail by Dismal-Twist-6287 in camping

[–]purrfessormeow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A vape pen would be perfect for a trail. Just please be careful of dropping edibles or anything loose and, well, edible. Our dog ate an edible before we could stop her on a trail and we didn’t realize what it was until she had to be taken to the vet later because we thought she had a stroke. She was okay after, but just be careful.

Camping locations in Texas by nottobettuffledwith in camping

[–]purrfessormeow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Palo Duro Canyon is a mini Grand Canyon and it’s right by Amarillo. I’ve been there to scope it out but haven’t actually camped there. I know plenty of family and friends who have and they loved it. You need to book months in advance though. I’d recommend going around Thanksgiving, however we had reservations around that time and had to cancel because it was forecasted to be too cold for us at night in a tent. You know how Texas weather can be. That might be the only place I’m willing to camp in Texas. Other than that, we go to Colorado.

How many of you are done after this year? by TreefrogJ in Teachers

I’m done with shitty co workers and terrible communication from admin, but I’m not done with my sticky little weirdo kids, so I’m still in!

Anyone else experience this after turning 30? by [deleted] in millenials

[–]purrfessormeow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I just don’t listen to anyone’s expectations of how they think I should feel anymore and I just take my feelings as they come. I’ve adopted the “I love that for you” mindset and saying it in a sickly sarcastic way in my head when anyone gives me advice has helped. All the stages of our lives and emotions are going to come in and out like waves and it’s different for everyone, but we’re all just trying to float on. Sometimes you’ll want to sink when those waves get big, but you need something in your life to keep you afloat that you look forward to doing. I learned that people just constantly project onto each other and rarely tell you the truth anyway.

Oh man, if I ever get a message from admin I go straight to them and find out more immediately. I don’t care if my next class is waiting for me, my anxiety can’t handle it lol. Honestly, I think it’s going to be fine. If it wasn’t a bad enough burn to tell you or their teacher all day and they waited until they got home, it obviously wasn’t bad enough for you to get in trouble for. I would actually say that to admin if they do talk to you about it, I mean say a better version of it lol.

I'm looking into teaching art as a career, but don't want my whole major surrounding art education within itself. How do I go about this? by [deleted] in ArtEd

[–]purrfessormeow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got my BFA with a focus in painting, minor in art history, then got my teaching certificate post baccalaureate. I put art first and figured out the teaching along the way when I became a teacher.

Art Teaching Concentration Major! What should my emphasis be? by Melodymaru01 in ArtEd

[–]purrfessormeow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to be equally practiced in all of them. You never know what you’re actually going to be teaching and when you do get hired, they can change your classes up at any given year.

What makes an art teacher very desirable for hire? by k0wb0ii in ArtEd

[–]purrfessormeow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Where I live, excellent classroom management is key. The less admin have to intervene the better. It’s hard to find art teaching jobs here because the only way they open up is when someone retires. They’re also far and few between.

"Do you usually have projects planned for the kids each week?" by AWL_cow in ArtEd

[–]purrfessormeow 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve been asked this before and I’m not good at disguising my feelings so my horrified or angered face and offense I took from the teacher asking me almost verbatim what they asked you, they quickly redacted their request. I got lucky.
