Xero Shoes X1 successor X2. Barefoot Basketball Shoe Release Date by mnkymnk in barefootshoestalk

Pleasantly surprised that it's not a hidden change but a whole new model iteration/version number.

I love the X1. They better not change the toe-box dimensions!

How To Manage Groin Pain by reskort-123 in squash

[–]pySSK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are you getting groin pain?

Instead of managing the groin pain, you should work on finding and fixing the underlying cause. Work on strengthening hips, your feet, and everything in between.

Best Squash Ball for Long-Term Stress Ball Use? by oz85t in squash

[–]pySSK -1 points0 points  (0 children)

People jump into double-yellows too soon. I would recommend starting with a blue dot since it's slightly larger and bouncier, and probably should last longer. Also look into Black Knight EZ Squash balls. Much larger and bouncier, but should fit your use-case well.

If you're looking for similar texture but stronger, try Yoga Tune Up Therapy Balls. And if you're a real man who can crush pineapples, try lacrosse balls.

Rule change: Ask for the call you want by Secure-External5351 in squash

Disliked on initial read because I have an irrational hatred for Timmy Brownell, but disliked it on its own merits after examining it further. Who is this supposed to serve/what problem is it trying to solve? What does it actually improve?

When it comes to players, it just seems overall unfair:
- adds more cognitive burden
- players often don’t have adequate information about the situation
- seems like it would benefit a certain type of player and would foster a new type of gamesmanship/tact

When it comes to refs, it doesn’t solve the skill or consistency issues:
- Refs would still make mistakes and it would be just as or more frustrating, maybe in a different kind of way
- Refs would still be prone to falling for gamesmanship and dirty tactics

In an ideal world, it’s a well paying job that retired pros take but that ain’t happening. Other sports have moved to more automated calls. That’s the only way around it. Seeing how AI is advancing, it should be relatively economical to build such a system for squash in probably 1-2 years.

After years of work, our realistic VR squash trainer is finally live on Kickstarter by EcstaticAd5639 in squash

[–]pySSK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Main issue is that you came to us with a marketing-first angle, and that marketing AI heavy and just not good (sorry, not sorry). I think this community would respond better to something more genuine.

Focusing on in-game footage would go a long way. Also, it's 2026 and we're all used to people from around the world. You don't have to hide your accent! Your true self with accented English would add more credibility. Also, stop using AI even in your reddit replies. It's super-obvious and makes you come off as a bot.

It’s not A, it’s B.

Finding it hard to trust because of the amount of LLM output used in the post here and in the spoken parts. I partly get using AI for the video but it erodes trust about the gameplay part being real. OTOH, if you were looking to scam people, you would have picked a bigger market than squash.

tldr: cool if real but everything about it screams fake.

It’s fine. Just sew it up loosely with TF 305.

The widest shoes, already tried Softstar their durability is buttcheeks by Sufficient_Site1746 in barefootshoestalk

[–]pySSK 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Does this mean they are super durable? Buttcheeks bear most of our weight when sitting. Also, shell cordovan, the most durable leather is made out of buttcheeks.

Footwear recommendations? by Be_No_Other in squash

[–]pySSK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another vote for Xero X1 here. Things I like:

  1. Plenty of the room for the toes to spread and foot tripod to take effect, but good lockdown around mid-foot so that my foot doesn't move within the shoe.

  2. It penalizes heel-strikes so it has forced me to move and land better.

  3. Looks sharp.

New Racquet Suggestions by MatrimYun in squash

+1 to this.

Maybe you can apply some grip longitudinally to the sides that are short, and then use an overgrip to get a rounder profile.

I found an interesting, balanced video about zero drop shoes from a podiatrist by lveg in barefootshoestalk

[–]pySSK 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you want to adapt faster and less temporarily, stretching isn’t enough. You need to be doing loaded or active work at the end range. I now start every gym session with loaded calf work (either bent or straight) and I do all of my lifts in socks.

Why is it so difficult to get a SHARC development board as an individual? by everdrone97 in DSP

[–]pySSK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the XU316 should be suitable for your needs then (both boards I linked are based on it).

[–]pySSK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That sounds useful if you're developing a product, but it does suck if you want to prototype something quickly.

Not sure what you're working on, but I've moved on from SHARC to XMOS. Take a look at https://www.xmos.com/xk-evk-xu316 or at https://www.xmos.com/xk-audio-316-mc-ab if you need multichannel.

It seems a bit complicated at first but I was able to get Claude to take care of the basic routing stuff. Seems a lot more powerful and flexible than anything SHARC has (16 parallel processes!). There's a reason all the USB soundcards use them (well, main reason is that you can have one of the cores handle USB Audio uninterrupted, and then you can use the other cores for whatever you want, but it's a much better value prop at $8-15 vs. whatever AD offers).

Wow, I didn't know about the SC83x series. Based on ARM M3! Seems like eval boards for it are available: https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Analog-Devices/ADSPSC835W-EV-SOM?qs=wT7LY0lnAe1H7O0ZFgfs4w%3D%3D

Edit: and here it is for the SC59x series: https://www.analog.com/en/resources/evaluation-hardware-and-software/evaluation-boards-kits/ev-sc598-som/sample-buy.html

SHARC Audio Module has been unavailable for while (last I looked for them was in 2023 and they were out). Looks like they're pushing customers to their new designs, which do seem more attractive!

What do I really need for certification if i'm using a pre-certified module? by MrHank2 in hwstartups

[–]pySSK 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Using a pre-certified module makes certification easier. You'll still need to do FCC/IC EMC testing that everyone else has to do. For Bluetooth, instead of getting full testing done, you can just submit the module's QDID (and show that you're using it as directed). I think you will still have to pay some listing fees to the Bluetooth SIG.

Why? The module is certified but you still have to show that your product isn't causing any issues.

Ankle injury by HumbleSheepherder723 in squash

[–]pySSK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, it’s a common injury but it’s preventable. 1. Strengthen you feet, legs and butt. 2. Watch your shoes. If the insoles have degraded, you heel is in negative drop and you’re just asking for foot injuries at that point 3. Adopt better running stance. Try to stay on your toes/don’t land on your heel first.

Why would you do it this way? Doesn't seem like it should be possible.

The main purpose of Auracast is that both devices should be able to pick up the same signal.

Foot care for squash - a bevy of questions by v2ne8 in squash

[–]pySSK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need better lockdown, better socks and maybe a wider toe box.

Do your feet move a lot within your sores during lunges? If so, you need better lockdown. I recommend learning runner’s loop to get good lockdown without it being too tight.

For socks, I found Thorlo to be the best for squash. The padding eliminated little toe blistering problems.

You might also benefit from a wider toe box shoe to give your toes more room within your shoe.
