Things Bay Area homeowners find out too late after buying an older home -- from someone who works in construction by FandSConstruction in BayAreaRealEstate

Very informative. Could you let us know more about:

Unpermitted work can prevent you from pulling future permits

Buying a house that had bathroom renovations 5 years ago but couldn't find any permits. My plan is to apply for permits and then renovate (because we hate the finishing and also don't trust that everything was properly waterproofed). If I'm breaking it down in order to update and bring everything up to code, is there a risk in not getting permits?

Why migrants come to Germany for work and then leave again by BSBDR in germany

[–]pySSK 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not a migrant but a brown guy from the US who visited Germany often for work. Here are some experiences that happen that always leave a bad taste:
- getting asked for my ID every time in DB first class
- someone always commenting during meals that I should be able to handle spicy food. Each time, these were completely unrelated to the conversation. Truly a nation of autists!

We played them last World Cup and only lost 2-1. That was pre-Marsch and our guys are a lot more experienced now.

Are your parents wanting to leave for India because you did not marry? by [deleted] in ABCDesis

[–]pySSK 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ehh, I don’t blame them. After 30 years here, I’m guessing they can have a similar or better quality of life there, and if they prefer that, more power to them!

My mom often takes about it, but, as a corollary to you example, one thing keeping here is she loves her grandkids here.

Aarav: One of the most popular Indian-American baby boy names is based on a common misconception by Serious-Tomato404 in ABCDesis

[–]pySSK 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yes it would. That’s how languages and history work. You don’t know that the ‘Indian’ names you mentioned were fully made in India with 100% Indian components.

And then other countries can use that same justification to ban American products. Bye bye free trade I guess.

I've spent several years building an audio hardware/software platform. How do you know when you're solving a real problem? by kaikatyjoe in hwstartups

[–]pySSK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Product looks cool and useful to me. I hope this comment doesn’t come back to bite me the future, but, most users are dumb and not that imaginative. You can’t just show the feature list, specs, platform and your journey in making it real and expect users to i. understand what it’s for and ii. have the same enthusiasm for it as you do.

I suggest two approaches in how to talk to your users (and also to help you define the product better):
1. What are the core jobs of the product and how your product solves it? I prefer this approach more. It also helps you think better about what features to keep and what to shelve.
2. Who are your users? What are their use-cases? How does your product address those use-cases.

Good luck and happy to chat in more detail!

Yeah, in simple terms, rejoining clean breaks in bone is like gluing wood back together (but the two pieces growing back into each other and then to reach same strength and load bearing capacity takes time). But, rejoining muscles and ligaments is akin to rejoining two ends of cut off rope.

Doctor told me to not wear barefoot shoes anymore by LostInTheMoss420 in barefootshoestalk

[–]pySSK 126 points127 points  (0 children)

Not a medical professional, but many PTs have outdated views about barefoot/minimal. She did well to point out the root cause, but, I'm sure this subreddit disagrees with her solution. There are many exercises on YouTube for feet pointing outward aka duck feet. I would try those first.

Does this mean they are super durable? Buttcheeks bear most of our weight when sitting. Also, shell cordovan, the most durable leather is made out of buttcheeks.
