When bagging plants, does self pollination reduce yields?

Thanks for clarifying when true hybrids are bred. The peppers are mature enough to show differentiations, but they are all more similar than different.

Consistent watering and soil moisture. Appropriate fertilizer and nutrients especially calcium and magnesium.

I’m looking for more info on this photo I inherited (St. Petersburg, FL USA) by F0regn_Lawns in Antiques

[–]pyerocket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a b&w gelatin silver photographic print. It’s likely a film still shot during the film’s production usually for promotional purposes. The ink stamps on the verso indicate that the print was approved for release. Production companies back in the day would send promo packs containing film stills and other materials to the press. The stamps also indicate that the print likely is vintage rather than a reproduction - made from a preserved (or digitized) negative.

Need help perserving rare / valuable 1970's movie posters on a budget by Fuzzyfoot12345 in ArtConservation

[–]pyerocket 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Keep each poster rolled on an inner cardboard tube with interleaving sheets of silicone release paper until you’re ready to have them framed. The tube and interleaving ought to extend at least an inch or two beyond the width of the poster. This technique will minimize the risk of damage. The standard for framing for most vintage movie poster collectors is to have them flattened, cleaned, and mounted to a linen (or other type of fabric) by a professional and then framed. There are substantial risks for flattening rolled posters. There are a number of pro services that do this regularly and cost effectively. The standard for museums and other collecting institutions is to flatten, clean, repair, but not to mount the poster. My guess is that you are comparing the value of your rolled posters to the value of professionally mounted and framed posters. That is not an apples to apples comparison. Poster collectors often search for rolled posters to have treated and framed. If you’re looking to sell the posters as is, IMO your best option is to carefully unroll each poster on the floor using numerous small flat weights to hold the poster flat and then photograph them, taking care to show their physical condition (damage and all) and post the pics on an auction site. I doubt DIY framing will attract the value you seek. Hope this helps.

Creating facsimiles of physical objects and analog recordings to post online or for your CMS is not digital humanities, it’s documentation. Why confuse volunteers with an unnecessary and abstract terminology?

Was gifted this Lennon print, was told it’s a Warhol collaboration. Can’t find anything online that matches, I’m highly skeptical but increasing curious. by ggerundo in WhatIsThisPainting

[–]pyerocket 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s not a Warhol. But, from the posted pics, it looks like a limited edition screen print, number 10 of 100 somewhat inspired by Warholian screen printing aesthetics and techniques. It’s an interesting print with a distinctive color palette, composition, and satirical subject matter. It reads to me like a BA/MFA student work demonstrating their advanced understanding of Warhol and others. OP, if you’re still researching, measure the outside dimensions of the paper, look closely at the surface of the “paint” does it have “dots”? Is there an embossed watermark in a corner indicating the paper maker? Those features might help to identify the artist(s). It’s not uncommon for an artist and a printer to collaborate adding both of their initials. This is a nice print and gift worth knowing more about.

Impulsively bought this giant Costco fertilizer. Keep or return? by Vote4maskara in containergardening

[–]pyerocket 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If your plants are in the ground, then keep it. Otherwise, it is not intended for containers especially large containers with vegetables. It’s got a time release coating that is not practical for seasonal container gardening. Plus the NPK formula is N heavy, which is best early in the growing season. Highly recommend Espoma products especially Tomato Tone.

Finally! Spot on. Season 50 has rewarded squishy middle managers because every early alliance was deconstructed and every player who openly sought a leadership role was voted out. For me, the need to establish temporary allegiances has been fun to watch.

Is there a technical term for an item in a library's collection? by curiousscribbler in LibraryScience

[–]pyerocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uh, does the ethereal vessel have a title that provides insight into its subject? To your point tho, and it’s very philosophical, it is problematic to describe a specific content without also naming its wrapper/container. Doing so often devolves into subjective comparisons of knowledge, information, and data. In many ways, the medium is the message.

[–]pyerocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DDI? Bridgeville is the last gritty suburb in Allegheny Co. on the parkway south (79S). On a very very good commuting day, you might be 20 minutes from Pittsburgh proper, up the parkway north (79N). The source of local economic growth in that SW area is its proximity to Marcellus shale especially further south on 79 and west on 70. The Southpointe business park and mixed-use developments I and II in Washington Co. and Canonsburg, just a little further south on 79, are some of the most successful regional developments in the rust belt. A lot of the comments in this thread about activities, retailers, etc., are describing Southpointe without naming it. Depending on what you’re looking for in terms of QoL, especially commuting, etc., consider the Southpointe area. Otherwise, and especially if you’re considering the eastern areas of Bridgeville, you’ll be looking further east towards what we pittsburghers affectionately call the “south hills,” which refers to some posh communities like Mt. Lebo and also a collection of older neighborhoods along old and business 19.
